This company preys on unsuspecting consumers who are fooled into thinking this company is providing a service in conjunction with real estate professionals as part of the sale of their property or homeDelivered by USPS in what appears to be an "official" envelope, this business is extremely deceptive despite the disclaimers in small printIt looks very official and is intimidatingIt has personal information on it, albeit incorrect, and asks for $to send us a complete property profile and a deed to our propertyOn the delivery envelope, there is a notice in a black outlined box that warns of a $2,fine and years of imprisonment for obstructing the delivery of this letterAlso: This is not a government document Above the address it says: IMPORTANT PROPERTY INFORMATION RESPOND PROMPTLYFor the unwary, especially senior citizens this company takes PUBLIC information regarding the sale of their recent real estate transaction, copies it off and sends it out like an official invoice with a BILL for $ Truth is, this information is available to anyone for FREE If you confront them, they will tell you that they are providing a service and that their mailings have disclaimers that say this mailing only applies to those who wish to "accept this offer"

We do not misrepresent our identity either. We are legitimate business entity with the name of Local Records Office, which advises the consumer that we deal with records, specifically Deeds or other Records of Title.
 
There is nothing false, misleading or deceptive within which we operate our business. We make it clear to the consumer that our letter is a solicitation and not a bill. The consumer is advised that they are under no obligation to pay for our service unless they accept our offer and request our service.
 
In this case, the consumer did not accept our offer. Local Records Office has been removed them from our data base and will not receive correspondence for our part.

This is an unsolicited and unnecessary service. They will provide for $89 what I have already received for FREE from the Recorder's Office where my new deed was recorded. The problem is that they make it look like a bill. To be fair, however, they do state at the top of the page: "You can obtain a copy of your grant deed or other record of title from the county recorder in the county where your property is located in." I received the exact same letter from First Documents in Corona, CA a couple of days ago. LET THE BUYER BEWARE.
