Review Ebay Vehicle Auction Fraud
I was scammed by a seller for 17k for vehicle on auction. The seller had a BBB record of serious ethics violations and fraud. I notified Ebay of this and requested to cancel the transaction. For some reason that defies logic, the decision whether or not to cancel was left up to the seller, who was the scammer! They naturally refused, leaving me stuck in a bad transaction l without offering due consumer protection. My worst fear later came to pass. After the transaction was finalized, customer relationships changed, communication delays, and other problems began to surface. The seller retaliated for my reporting him to eBay, by increasing the price by $250 for 'storage fees' and threatened to add another $25.00 a day if I d When the seller finally delivered the vehicle 30 days after the sale. I had it inspected by my mechanic and his finding was: The left front fender had been altered(moved) the left headlight and hood misaligned preventing the hood from closing properly. None of this in the Carfax report. Moreover, the seller has failed to provide the vehicle Title or any other documents for the vehicle. It's been sitting on my property for almost month's months, and I have to get around as best I can to attend to my errands. I'm a senior with health issues. The 'investigator' assigned to my case has been less than adept at handling this matter. Investigator erroneously contends the issue with the car is attributed to blemishes due to 'age' (?) Clearly, the vehicle was 'not as described' and is covered. This is deception in the purest form as evidenced in their past history. Needless to say, this case has created undue financial and emotional hardship on me. The17K I spent could have been sitting in the bank drawing interests. I'm a veteran eBay buyer for 16 years, over 700 transactions and purchased 3 cars over the years, maintaining a 100% rating. I complied to the fullest and met my burden of proof in this case initiated by vehicle fraud. I reported the scam before the transaction was completed and my request to cancel for the reasons given was denied! I had the expectation as consumer to be able to transact business in a safe protected shopping environment with purchase protection. Please give consideration request for a review and VPP reimbursement. Thank you.

Placed in KO book for no reason, have never had a claim paid, removal from KO book requires a very intrusive review of your finances.
On or around 12/15/19, I bid on a vehicle at an Adesa mobile auction. I Received an email that stated I was outbid and it was sold to another vehicle. A week and a half later, I received an email from the credit/collection manager at Adesa Kansas City with an invoice for the vehicle bundled with quite a few late fees. I went back and forth via emails and calls stating I felt I shouldn't be responsible for the fees, and would pay for and pick up the vehicle if we could work on the fees. I was told that was up to the General Manager and she would let me know. Instead, I got a call from *** at AIA, after discussing the unit with him, he informed me that if I just paid for the unit everything would be fine, and even told me to just bring the amount I thought was correct and they would likely take it.

I went to Adesa Kansas City with cash in hand to pay for the unit and the credit manager said she could not waive any fees, we'd have to talk to the GM. We spoke with the assistant GM, he looked at the copies of all the correspondence I had with the credit manager, apologized to me and told her to waive all fees. I paid for the vehicle and removed it.

I then found out I was placed in the KO book and sent a form requesting very intrusive details about my finances to see if "i am insurable", even though they did not pay out a cent.

The VERY NEXT DAY, I received a call from another individual regarding my "Debt at adesa" which I informed him had already been taken care of , and he then said that Missouri Auto Auction in Columbia had just contacted them regarding a NSF check from May of 2019 - Something that I took care of back in May - When I proceeded to ask him why I was getting a call about an NSF check from May in February of the following year he stammered a bit and then said he didn't know , but I'd have to contact them. I have emailed Missouri Auto Auction asking for a copy of the NSF check as I have switched banks since then and cannot go back and look online to print the copy of the check that was paid, and have gotten no response.

I have been told that my financial records will have to meet a certain standard to be "Reinstated", even though I have NEVER had a claim paid out, did NOT have to pass these "Standards" when I signed up for AuctionAccess, and pay cash at nearly every auction I attend.

AIA/Manheim/Auction Access are all under the Cox umbrella now, and this is an unfair monopoly that tends to unfairly blackball smaller dealers like me out of business. AIA has not incurred a loss, and neither have any of the auctions that I use. I spent well over 800,000 dollars at Adesa from July of 2018 until July of 2019.

Desired Outcome

Removal from KO Book, as there has not been a claim paid. I am fine with remaining on a cash basis with *** but submitting three months of personal and business bank statements, listing my assets and net worth, debts, and other personal information is not only intrusive, but unnecessary as there was no loss involved by any company involved. This was all over a misunderstanding via an email received stating that I did not win this vehicle.

Mr. is a licensed car dealer, not a consumer, who failed to pay for vehicles he purchased at two wholesale auctions located in Missouri (one loss has since been paid). Auction Insurance Agency (AIA) insures both of these auto auctions for payment insurance. Mr. is not a customer of AIA. Due to his dealerships payment issues at the auto auctions we insure, we notify all our insureds that we will no longer provide coverage should our insureds suffer a payment loss from Mr. dealership. We refer to this status as being "uninsurable". Being uninsurable is determined by being a payment risk to our insureds, and is not necessarily caused by a loss that results in a paid claim to our insureds. That said, we did pay a loss our insured because of a bad check Mr. dealership wrote to Missouri Auto Auction. Once Mr. resolves this issue in full, he should qualify to submit the financial documents requirement by our Risk Dept to review his uninsurable status. *** is welcome to contact *** (XXX-XXX-XXXX) who is handling the auctions claim.

Please also note that AIA and AuctionAccess (separate company) are most certainly NOT owned by COX Automotive.

I was frauded on eBay auto for 16K. I was notified by eBay that the sellers account was a scam 3 days after I had wired the money. I frantically filed a claim with Auction Insurance Agency and had to complete several steps to fully complete the process. My wife and I were traumatized by the event naturally. AIA's Jessica B. was the investigating agent assigned to my case. It took a total of 2 months of leg work, emails and phone calls until I realized a full reimbursement of the 16K. Jessica answered each of my emails and responded to my phone inquiries, which meant allot at the time. She was professional, yet able to calmly direct a frantic old man through the process. I have only positive things to say about AIA and especially their staff person, Jessica.

I requested to receive a refund for a $420 purchase that this agency insured and they will not reply to my email. Order ***XXXXXX
Auction Insurance Agency insured a listing from a seller that was grossly misleading. Estimated value of the listing was to be over $6000 and With a minimum of 500 items. Once received the items were not completely different than what I ordered with the Majority expiring in 2017. There were approximately 370 items with a retail value of less than $300 and all expired or broken. I ordered shaving cream, lotions, shampoo, deodorant, cosmetics. I received Over The Counter medications that expired in 2017 which can make people sick. I simply asked to return the products and to receive the $420 I spent. I sent all this information to *** of Auction Insurance at email ***@auctioninsurance.com for order ***XXXXXX. I received an email saying they are looking in to the case and they will not reply when I attempt to contact them. I simply want a refund. Its not fair to mislead consumers, or sell items that could make people sick.

Desired Outcome

I would like a refund of the $420 that I spent.

Auction Insurance Agency is the third-party administrator of B-Stock Supply's Buyer Protection Program. We reviewed the individual's dispute and determined that the order was not misrepresented and did not qualify for the buyer protection. Below is a synopsis and conclusion as to our findings and determination.
The order/lot was listed in the salvage condition category. The definition of this condition, as described on B-Stock Supply's site, states that such items are "broken, missing parts...and cannot be disputed." The listing also stated that the lot will consist of expired items. Given that the order was for salvage items disclosed as being expired, the individual's claim for misrepresentation was denied.
In addition to the misrepresentation claim, the individual claimed that only 370 of the listed 500 items were received. We contacted the seller about this issue and they have since sent an additional 250 units to the buyer. The additional units were delivered today per the tracking information we received. We mentioned to the seller the buyer's dissatisfaction with the order. The seller expressed no interest in addressing that issue and cited the disclosure in the listing.
Don't hesitate to contact us if any further clarification is needed.

we did business with AutoNation Auto Auction and paid them late becuase my daughter had brain surgery but paid in full and was put in the KO book
The AIC put us in the KO book because I paid the auction late because my daughter was having Brain surgery but I paid them and there was no loss but we got put in the KO book by Mr *** who is very rude and disrespectful. Mr *** left me a voicemail when I got it I returned his call and told him that I would be able to send the wire the next day,the reason the wire wasn't sent earlier is because my daughter is the one that has to do it because the auction wont let me send it out of my account and it has to come out of hers and she was in the hospital and could not do it. so there was no reason for them to put us in the KO book in the first place we pay cash for all the cars we buy at the sale so there's nothing for them to lose on our behalf, they do these things because they can and there's no one to stop them from doing so I emailed the CEO and was told to talk to someone else who in part was rude because he feel he can this company destroys small businesses just because they can and it not right. we do business with a lot of Auctions and never had a problem before this. It's a shame how these types of business self regulate

Desired Outcome

to be taken out of the KO book

Auction Insurance Agency Response • Aug 12, 2019

Thank you for the notice. Mr. is not a customer of Auction Insurance Agency. While we do provide insurance services to wholesale auto auctions, any decision regarding whether or not to to do business with Mr. is solely made by those auto auctions. Furthermore, Mr. still owes Auction Insurance Agency over $7,000 from a loss he caused for one of our auto auction customers in 2017. We would be glad to discuss the repayment of that debt with Mr. at his convenience.

This company has a longtime, respected dealer on the "KO" Book because of the actions of another individual who co-owned a dealership.
Some years ago, my partner *** at our joint venture "*** of ***" sold a vehicle on ***. The car was perfect. Mint. I saw it before it shipped. The buyer claimed massive damage through *** buyer protection and got a cool $10,000 plus a perfect car. Part of the always lucrative *** Buyer Protection scam. My partner owned the *** account, I was not involved. His car, his money, his bank account. Simply both on the license. He did not respond to the *** complaint, thus they ruled in the complaintants favor. Now, I cannot register any of my dealerships at auto auctions and I ended the partnership 5 years ago. I am on a permanent naughty list and it is doing real damage to me, and I had NOTHING to do with the transaction that got me there. I estimate my lossed earnings from this at about $2,000,000. I am now searching for lawyers in *** to bring a suit for damages. This company is so grotesque and erroneous. I am a well respected dealer that has bought and sold many thousands of vehicles over a decade, and this company continues to damage my livelihood and reputation in the industry. Terrible company. One lawsuit might change that.....

Desired Outcome

I want my name removed from the KO Book and to be off their arbitrary "naughty list".

Thank you for notifying us of this complaint. I have reviewed the situation in question and have found some discrepancies in what Mr. has described. The eBay complaint in question back in 2014 was not due to the condition of a vehicle that was sold by Mr. dealership (*** of ***) on eBay, but a vehicle that was sold by his dealership on eBay where the eBay buyer paid for the vehicle in full but never received the vehicle. During our investigation of the eBay user's complaint we found that the vehicle had been sold to a different purchaser and therefore *** was unable to provide the vehicle to the eBay buyer. Unfortunately, it took nearly 60 days for *** to provide a refund to the eBay user that had paid for the vehicle. During that time, our company became concerned about ***' financial ability to provide that refund and we stopped insuring its transactions. After that point, *** of *** did eventually provide a refund to the eBay user. To be clear, eBay's Vehicle Purchase Protection is not a "lucrative scam" - any losses paid under this buyer protection program cost eBay Motors money and is the opposite of "lucrative" for them.
That all said, my company's records indicate that we have not heard from Mr. since 2017. I am certainly willing to talk to him about his status with AIA and see what can be done to address his complaint. I will reach out to him talk, or he is welcome to contact me directly at XXX-XXX-XXXX.

VW Auto Finance was sent to the Auction Insurance agency by Adesa for a loss of $6500.00 on 06/01/18 payment was made in full to Adesa 06/01/18
The Action Insurance Agency received a claim of $6500.00 from Adesa Auction on 06/01/18 and my company VW Auto Finance INC had already submitted a wire transfer to pay Adesa in full $6500.00 on 06/01/18 to avoid the agency having to paid any claims in my company's behalf. My company was immediately listed on the KO book as a non-trustworthy company and I am blocked from buying at *** and most of the auctions or using my $50,000 floor plan (capital purchase credit line) from Nextgear due to the block. Management from Adesa Auction Ms. notify the agency that payments were made in full. and I was told by the Auction Insurance Agency the removal process would take 14 to 10 business days and to send my business account statements for 6 months to MR *** employee of the Auction Insurance Agency which happen to be in vacation the whole week from 06/01/18 through 06/11/18. This put my business on hold for this period so not only did I had to wait till Mr. *** returned from his time off to view and work on my case, because I was told he is the only person in the entire company that can remove my company from the KO book, So finally after Mr *** returned 06/11/18 and after me having to call multiple times and spend time chasing MR *** down, I was told by him when I ask how long would this process take " It depends on how much my phone rings " . He finally responded to me by calling me on 06/19/18 that he was not going to removed me from the KO book because my bank account is not strong enough. and I would not be removed from the KO book due to my bank statements had some overdraft fees paid to the bank by the way and even though my account showed a current positive balance of over $20,000 he would not remove my company from the KO book. My personal business account has absolutely nothing to do with me being able to purchase cars in the auctions. I am a license dealer and all my credential are in perfect shape Furthermore This is not a requirement by law in order to operate as a dealership and conduct business to have a perfect bank statement. My company has a surety bond of $25,000 the amount required by the DMV to cover any loss that my business activity can cause and there has been no claims on my surety bond. However, Mr. claims that is not enough money for him to consider, it is for the DMV as far as I am concern. I being told by MR *** I can re-apply to be remove in 6 months if my banks accounts are strong and at least show 4 figures. How is my company going to be able to survive the market let alone make any profits if I can't even do business Meaning I am ban from doing business at most auctions specially *** which my company has spent over $120,000 in the last 5m that I been open for business in addition to that my company is unable to use the capital of $50,000 from Nextgear Capital to purchase any inventory even though I repeat again I have paid the total amount of the debt owe to ADESA of $6500.00, there has been $0 losses. I owe $0 to all auctions my company has never use checks to pay for any vehicles, I've always have made wire transfers or paid with money orders. This is an unfair business practice I am not asking the Auction Insurance Agency for any type of loans or favors all I am asking them is to remove my company from the KO book so I can continue working and doing business since I have paid all my dues. The Auction Insurance Agency is suppose to be covering the auctions losses not banning small car dealerships from doing regular business because of details concerning their personal business accounts, which by the way is private information that they have no right to ask for in the first place and did not even explain why they ask for it to begin with. Mr. has decided as final authority not allowing me to speak with anyone else in Auction Insurance Agency or his superior to not remove VW Auto Finance INC from the KO book.I am asking to remove my company immediately.

Desired Outcome

I am seeking to have my company VW Auto Finance removed from the KO book. SO I can conduct my regular business activity this is damaging my reputation as a business owner as well

Auction Insurance Agency Response • Jun 22, 2018

Auction Insurance Agency insures wholesale auto auctions against losses from payment defaults by car dealers. VW Auto Finance purchased 3 vehicles for a total of $11,925 in April 2018 and defaulted on payment to the auction. The vehicles were resold to mitigate the loss. The auction attempted to collect the amount due, $6,522, from VW Auto Finance, but was unsuccessful. This was submitted to AIA as a possible claim. Upon receipt of this outstanding claim, AIA made the decision to no longer provide payment insurance for transactions with VW Auto Finance. We have not told any auto auction that they cannot or should not conduct business with VW Auto Finance. We have simply told them that, if they choose to conduct business with them and there is a payment default, we will not insure those transactions.

Upon confirmation from the auction that the amount owed was paid in full and that there was no longer an outstanding claim, we asked VW Auto Finance to send limited financial information to assure ourselves that they are no longer a risk, so that we could insure their transactions with auto auctions. The information submitted by VW Auto Finance did not meet our underwriting guidelines for us to insure their transactions. They claimed to have other information they could send to support their case and we allowed them to do so. This additional information was not enough to meet our requirements.

As a courtesy to VW Auto Financw, we will review their information again. If VW Auto Finance has additional information they would like us to consider, we are happy to do so.

Refund for Bstock Order SUPXXXXX

This is regarding an auction I won on bstock website. The auction insurance is the insurer. The order number is SUPXXXXX.

I purchased an item on bstock's website.
The item advertised was MIDORI WAY brand Organic Bamboo Cutting Board (100 in quantity). I paid for the auction.
The seller shipped a different brand, PANDA BOARD cutting board.
This transaction is covered by Bstock's buyer's protection plan through auction insurance.
On the same day I received this wrong product, I followed the instruction outlined in the buyer's protection agreement and informed relevant parties. The auction insurance contact person Elisabeth Young understands the product advertised and the one I received are different. She searcher online on amazon and ebay and was able to locate both.
It's clear that I received the wrong item. The transaction is insured. The auction insurance is responsible for a full-refund.

Now, I am being offered a partial refund on the basis that I did get cutting boards.
This is unacceptable by any means.

I paid $953 for the auction plus $25 wire transfer fee. I did not get what I paid for. I am not interested in buying PANDA BOARD.

I want bstock to fulfill its responsibility and issue a full refund.

Desired Outcome

I paid $953 for the auction plus $25 wire transfer fee. I did not get what I paid for. I am not interested in buying PANDA BOARD. I want bstock and its insurance agency to fulfill their responsibilities and issue a full refund of $978. If the items are not picked up in 5 business days, I also want the storage fees.

Customer Response

I would like to withdraw this complaint. The business is resolving my concerns.

Thank you
