Mr*** *** visited Audi Bellevue complaining that his clutch was slipping in his manual transmission Audi A4. He was advised that the transmission had to be removed and the clutch examined to determine the cause of the slippage. He was also advised that the slippage could
be caused either by mechanical malfunction which would be covered under warranty or through wear and tear caused by the driver. The clutch would not be covered under the warranty in the event the issue was caused by wear and tear. Mr*** was not satisfied with this and elected to not have his clutch examined and or repaired at Audi Bellevue. Mr*** contacted Audi USA and they also conformed that if the clutch issue was due to wear and tear the clutch repair would not be covered under warranty. Please note that it is never in the interest of the dealership to not honor a valid manufacture warranty claim. We of course are always interested in doing everything possible to keep our customers satisfied and their vehicles repaired. Further, the dealer is paid by the manufacture to complete all valid warranty repairs. That said, we must also honor the manufacture guidelines for the limited warranty in effect for the vehicle in question. Accordingly, we cannot repair a vehicle under 'warranty' when in fact that particular repair was not warranty related. This would be in violation of our manufacture dealer agreements and covenants. Finally, please note that the complainant elected not to have the clutch examined to determine the true cause of the slippage/malfunction
Thank you for your communication of 4/4/with respect to Ms*** *** complaint.Ms*** purchased a Volkswagen Passat Vin number *** on November 5, from Barrier Audi in Bellevue Along with her vehicle purchase she also purchased a vehicle service
contract at the time of purchase signing After review of our file we do have a copy of the signed service contract along with her initials which are required by Washington Residents only agreeing to purchase the service contract With respect to Ms*** complaint about the purchase of the service contract please note that this coverage was in fact cancellable at any time If she did decide to keep the contract, followed the administrator’s guidelines, and the policy was never used she could have also received a refund not to exceed $less admin fees The employees Ms*** worked with on the day of the service contract purchase no longer with our company, the fact that this service contract expired November 11,2013, based on time, we would be willing to reimburse Ms*** the amount of $$as a gesture of good willDue to a recent buy sell of the company Ms*** did reach out to say the amount had not been applied This check has now been generated to her personally and is ready for pick up.We feel based on the amount of time that has passed along with understanding Ms*** complaint that this will bring the concern to a satisfactory conclusion If you have any other further questions, please feel free to contact me at 425-990-4487.Sincerely,Lisa** H***General ManagerBarrier Audi
