RE: Revdex.com complaint - [redacted] - submitted 5/11/2016 – ID [redacted] Gulf Coast Marine has received your Revdex.com complaint notification filed by [redacted] and offer the following response. season is over and the boat show starts in early January we get slammed with work. We try to explain this to our customers so they can get in the habit of bringing their boat in for service during our off season, Oct. -thru- Dec. so they have less down time in season. Gulf Coast Marine (GCM) seeks to manage all incoming work in a manner that rewards with priority those who purchase boats from us. This method has proven successful over the 60+ years of doing business here in Corpus Christi. Mr. [redacted] did not purchase his boat from GCM. The size of our service staff manages both the peek seasons of the year as well as the slow times during the winter months. This year, however, we didn’t have a slow period. Our techs balance the incoming service along with the preparation of new boats as they are sold. We apologize for the time it took to complete the work to Mr. [redacted]’s boat. Mr. [redacted] stated in his complaint that he dropped off his boat for a water pump problem and poor engine performance. Review of the work order #21609 prepared on 2/19/2016 when Mr. [redacted] delivered his boat to GCM shows a similar description. Diagnosing the water pump, the tech found that the water pump impeller had cracks in the blades and the housing had burned and melted, both of which would cause the pump to perform below its required output pressure. The pump was replaced. Diagnosing the engine performance, the tech found that the fuel in the gas tank and motor was “flat”. Mr. [redacted]’s boat had old fuel in it when he delivered it to GCM and this flat was the cause of the poor engine performance. The tech cleaned out the old fuel from the fuel tank and the fuel passages in the motor and put 20 gallons of fresh fuel in the tank. The fuel was treated with stabilizer to extend the life of the new fuel. The tech took the boat out for a sea trial and videotaped the speedometer documenting the speed of the boat going 44 mph, 2mph over the customer’s request when he delivered the boat for service. Flat fuel results from age. Octane evaporates from the fuel over time. Low octane fuel causes motors to ping and knock and perform poorly. The 10% ethanol–gas mixture from the gas pump separates in a short time into two distinct layers and also results in water buildup in the gas tank. Separated ethanol and water do not burn in the motor and result in poor engine performance. When customers pick up their boat at the completion of service, Gulf Coast Marine provides customers with documentation describing the importance of understanding the problems that occur with the use of government mandated 10% ethanol fuel in marine engines. The documentation describes the importance of using up the fuel before it separates and the engine damage that occurs from using old, flat, separated fuel. Fresh fuel, even when treated with stabilizer, lasts up to 60 days maximum when put into the gas tank.  Please refer to the attached documentation that was provided to Mr. [redacted]. By the date of Mr. [redacted]’s Revdex.com submission, it appears as though he submitted his complaint a few days before the tech completed the work and contacted him to discuss the diagnoses for the water pump and engine performance. The tech reports that Mr. [redacted] was pleased with the work done and after picking up the boat, Mr. [redacted] reported to the tech that he was very pleased with the performance of the boat in the water. Sincerely,[redacted] – Gulf Coast Marine

6/22/2016 RE: Revdex.com complaint – [redacted] – submitted 5/27/2016 – ID [redacted] Gulf Coast Marine has received your Revdex.com complaint notification filed by [redacted] and offer the following response. owned by the dealership, consignment boats belong to the registered owner and they utilize our display lot to put their boat in front of the boat buying traffic that passes through our business daily. As a result, Gulf Coast Marine is not in possession of the titles to said consignment boats. In particular to the boat purchased by Mr. [redacted], the original owner financed the boat. Gulf Coast Marine started the process of transferring the title to him by paying off the loan to the lienholder. After which the lienholder will release the title to us and upon receipt of said title, we will then transfer the title into Mr. [redacted]’s name at Tx Parks and Wildlife. There are many parts of this process that Gulf Coast Marine has no control of nor do we have control over the length of time these parts of the process take. We are waiting just as Mr. [redacted] is. All of this has been explained to Mr. [redacted]. When the transferred title is received by GCM, Mr. [redacted] will be notified as soon as possible. Regarding Mr. [redacted]’s concerns about the lower unit oil and water pump, upon purchase he was assured they were OK because when the original owner brought the boat in for consignment sale, we serviced the lower unit by replacing the water pump and changing the lower unit seals and oil along with pressure testing the repaired assembly and running the motor. The boat remained on the sales lot in this condition until Mr. [redacted]’s purchase. Regarding the helm (steering) and Mr. [redacted]’s personal expense for said repair, [redacted], President of Gulf Coast Marine, on 5/27/2016 has been in communication with Mr. [redacted] and to his satisfaction they reached an agreement consisting of GCM paying him $128.84 (check # [redacted]) as reimbursement for the helm repair and his inconvenience. In short, all of the issues stated by Mr. [redacted] in his Revdex.com complaint have been resolved to his satisfaction. Sincerely, [redacted] – Gulf Coast Marine
