Aunt Judy's Attic Reviews (1)

I recently purchased an 1900's antique engagement ring from an online antique website called Aunt Judy's Attic. The ad for the ring seemed to fit the description of what I was looking for, so I got in contact with the seller to see about a possible transaction. We corresponded over the course of about 3 weeks before I told her I was interested in purchasing the ring. I sent her an email asking for some information about the ring. Things like where it was designed, how old it was, what was the weight and the materials used in making it. I asked her appraisal papers and she told me that the ring was appraise at 4000 but because she re-sized it to fit her finger, which removed the makers mark, compromised the value and so she would drop the price to 2500. She told me the ring itself was made up of platinum, sapphires and diamonds and weighed 3.4grams. She told me the only payment she accepted was through [redacted] or money order, but since I was in [redacted] I would have to pay with a money order. I spoke to [redacted] on the phone to confirm the transaction and that the information she had given me was correct. She assured me again that it was and that she was an elderly woman who was in no position to lie or mislead someone. I sent my money order for 2500 dollars us on November the 1st and she received it several days later. She contacted me and told me she sent the ring and sent me a shipping number. The ring arrived a week and a half later, an although it looked similar to the pictures, there was a clear discrepancy in size. The following day I took the ring to a professional appraiser to verify if the information that [redacted] has given me was indeed true. First off the appraiser told me there was absolutely no platinum on the ring whatsoever. Secondly the appraiser set the weight of the stones at 2.2 grams not the .34 grams which [redacted] had let me to believe. The third and final blow was that [redacted] said she had the ring appraised at 4000 dollars, my appraiser said the ring was worth no more than 700 and that I was supremely mislead and overcharged. I immediately tried to contact [redacted] to discuss the issues I had with her dishonestly regarding the ring. I called her at home and at on her shop line. I sent a very polite email asking to discuss the discrepancies and possible restitution for the matter at hand. It has been almost a week and I have heard no response. I feel supremely mislead and taken advantage of. I bought this ring with my savings for my partner and now I am out 2500. I would like to stop this from happening in the future and stop others from becoming a victim of her dishonest business dealings.Product_Or_Service: Engagment ringOrder_Number: [redacted]Desired SettlementEither a partial refund of the discrepancy amount( 1500 dollars) to which I would keep the ring. Or a full refund of the 2500 and I would return the ring to the seller.
