1.Copies of all reciepts
requested were mailedIn years of business, with good standing in the community, we have never been asked to provide copies of invoicesThese are
proprietaty documentsAll account numbers and pricing information is for
shop
use onlyBe that as it may, the
customer should have them in his
posession
2.In the case
of the vendor selection of the disc brake conversion kit....we had ordered a
brake kit from Ecklers before the customer suggested
that we use the kit Corvette Central carriesNo agreement, written or
oral, was made on which vendor we were to useThis was after the description of the Ecklers kit stated that
it requires non-original wheelsDuring
that time period, I called Ecklers
and they assured me that the
description was wrong, and that the stock original wheels would work with their
kit, with no modifications neededIndeed, the original wheels, supplied by the
customer, fit fineThe only modification
we made was to correct the mounting tab on the right side caliper bracket, which was welded on the wrong sideWe employ competent employees with
years of welding experienceIf we thought the weld (less than one inch long)
would warp a 1/Inch plate, we
would have asked the vendor to replace it
3.From the time of delivery
of the vehicle to today, the kit has worked as designedI see no reason to
replace the brake conversion kit at this time, unless a part failsThe vendor, Ecklers, has sent us a replacei-nent bracketWe
will pay for the replacement of this
bracket at customary labor rates: hours at our rate of $108/hour ($216.00)
Thank you for your fair consideration
of this matter

Complaint: ***
I reject the response from Austin Corvette to my complaint to the Revdex.com because the statements made by the shop owner in his response regarding the disc brake conversion kit are factually incorrect and are far from the truthI had retained Austin Corvette to install a front disc brake conversion kit on my CorvetteAfter the project, I sent a letter to the owner of Austin Corvette dated August 25, 2014, in an attempt to settle this matterI detailed the events as they happenedI will attach the letter along with its attachments to this response to the Revdex.com, and I will summarize the content as follows: _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
...1.THERE WAS A VERBAL AGREEMENT to use the Corvette Central disc brake conversion kitI can substantiate this agreement with physical proofThe owner of Austin Corvette broke the agreement and installed a different kit_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
...2.The shop owner had previously told me that the Ecklers conversion kit would not fit if I were to use stock wheel rims on my car (siting Ecklers website as stating so); however, I need the stock wheel rims so that I can use my stock hubcapsThat is why I researched and found that Corvette Central does sell a conversion kit that supports the use of stock wheel rims, and I asked and the shop owner agreed to use that kitWITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE, the shop owner modified a cheaper Ecklers conversion kit, damaging the adapter plates, and not until the day that I picked up the car and asked him why the adapter plates were all re-welded did I learn that he had used the Ecklers kit_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
...3.Ecklers continues to confirm that their disc brake conversion kit part # is NOT FOR USE WITH CORVETTE STOCK WHEELSEcklers website continues to state that the kit requires "aftermarket wheels or 1965-steel wheels"Anyone can call Ecklers right now (***) for the truth, or access http:/*** and enter product number 30140, then see "DESCRIPTION"(This clearly contradicts the shop owners statement to the Revdex.com that Ecklers could accurately assure him that the website description was wrong, that the stock original wheels will work with the Ecklers kit, and with no modifications needed.) _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
...4.Because the Ecklers components would not fit, Austin Corvette DID CUT, WELD, AND RE-FABRICATE BOTH of the adapter plates (Left and Right) so the calipers would not hit the wheel rims (as Ecklers product people told me that they would if their kit were used with stock wheel rims)Both adapter plates have substantial welding(This clearly contradicts the shop owner’s statement to the Revdex.com that only the right side adapter plate was modified and with a less than a one inch long weld.) _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
...5.THE WELDING DID WARP THE ADAPTER PLATES such that the calipers do not align correctly with the brake rotorThe warp is visually noticeableThis alignment is critical for the brakes to work and wear properly_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
...6.I removed and took the right side adapter plate to several brake shops in Austin for their review and commentThey all ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THE ADAPTER PLATE IS WARPED and presented their consequences in leaving it on the carTheir manager's comments are used with their permission_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
