This facility is accepting patients who they clearly know are not emergency cases (including college kids who think they are going to the closest urgent care center), charging astronomical prices for very minor care, and obviously have very limited ethical standards to do soI am disgusted by the theory that placing a red emergency sign where a red urgent care sign might otherwise be affords this facility to charge thousands for the same care hundreds would provide to a more scrupulous shopperWhen you are sick, years old, and hours away from anyone you know, perhaps you walk in to the wrong door for help? Absolutely, and probably quite often in a large college townPerhaps a dignified person, a kind person, winks and tells them to go down the street a ways to be treated for a lot less money? Not in this case, and it's horrifying to think they have probably financially strapped many families by not filtering them at the deskAwful!

I went to this facility with a cut finger on April 15, which they sealed with a "steri-strip"They also administered a tetanus shot and wrote a prescription for antibioticsMy insurance company followed up with an Explanation of BenefitsThe initial charges totaled $4,My insurance company repriced the amount at $3,I also received a letter from Austin Emergency Centers billing company, Tyvan Practice Management, prompting me to call them once I had received the Explanation of Benefits so that they could help me understand my billI called them on May 9, and was told that they were still reviewing the charges with my insurance company and that I would receive a final bill from them by the end of May, at which time I should call them back to discussToday is June 20, I have yet to receive a final bill and phoned Tyvan once againThis phone call confirmed that my bill would in fact be $3,I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told that person was in a meeting and would need to call me backI asked for the supervisors name and was put on hold for over minutes before hanging up
Understand that this is NOT an urgent care facilityThese charges are egregious

Be aware that this is not an Urgent Care Facility This is an Emergency Room with 24/staff and full facilities for dealing with life-threatening emergenciesThe costs of a visit are in keeping with what you would see if you went to a hospital ERYour bill or the bill your insurance gets will be HUGEIf you don't have an actual emergency, PLEASE do not use this placeFind an Urgent Care facility or wait to see your regular doctor
I know that many customers of this clinic have made the same mistake we did and were blind-sided by huge bills (nearly $2,for us) My purpose is not to criticize the quality of care or the professionalism of the staff, but to inform the public of the cost of the service
