To Whom it may concern:  I, [redacted], Owner of Austin Hwy Auto service am writting this letter to reply to Ms. [redacted]'s complain.   Ms. [redacted] bought to our location a '98 Ford Ranger XLT for a leak she said was occuring in the car. She pointed out the location of where...

it was leaking and we got to working on it. We poured water over the section fixed and saw no leaking. We went on to doing a tune-up, replaced valve cover gaskets, and a sensor in the rear of engine. We did not have an issue with the battery and did not have any problems with the vehicle turning on while at the shop. The job could have been done sooner but we had to wait for all authorization for each job since she would have to communicate it to her nephew in the service who was stationed over seas and only able to do this through emails. When she returned around a week after because rain was still going in we explained to her that it would be extra because we would have to remove the cowls that are below the wipers. Ms. [redacted] was aware that this vehicle needed a lot of work done  to it but she stated that she was tired of putting money into it for her nephew. She was wanting for my mechanic Aaron to do work at her home but for warranty circumstances (we do offer warranty in the job we do perform) like these I do not allow it. Work is to be done only at the shop. If she had knowledge of more things that were wrong with the vehicle because she had passed it through the computer at Auto Zone then she should've repaired them also. . The work we did on her car has nothing to do with what she had to go out and repair elsewhere because we didn't have to work on the battery or on the air intake sensor. This is an older vehicle that needs alot of maintenance and a lot of work but like I stated before she is tired of putting money into her nephew car. We have never had a situation like this happen to us in the years that we've been here. We work with our customers, drive them back home/work if their vehicles have to stay and are very well known to our local military in Fort Sam Houston Army Base. I am rejecting this response because:These statements are false and they are putting words in my mouth. Every time I took the truck to Astin Hwy Auto Services they would say they need hundreds of dollars more . The check engine light was on when I took it to them and when I got it back. Not only was the check engine light STILL ON and the THE BATTERY LIGHT. They did basic tune up,valve cover gasket,a cam sensor . My nephew which is in the U.S. MARINE CROP. In Okinawa spoke the the machanic directly . Th machanic stated that he was a very nice young man . My nephew kept in close contact during all this( on daily bases). They charged me $100 before they did any work, just to look at the truck  . They charged me every time for one reason or another just to milk me for more money. I feel I was taken advantage of and being over charged from the original quote due to being female  .They wanted yet more money for me to bring it back to look at it and fix the damages .,lloo Plus getting the truck back in worse condition then when I took it to them . They had damaged the wiring and to several wires putting the parts back on from the valve gasket replacement . They also damaged the air sensor in the process.     I had to get that fixed too, which cost an additional $200. I had no problems with the wiring nor the air sensor till after they retuned the truck back to me and both the check engine light and battery lights were ON .
