I purchased LEGAL tint with a lifetime warranty on 2/26/11 but car failed the NC inspection because of window tint. I didnt know illegal tint was usedAuto Audio tinted my windows on 2/26/11 for $165. I requested lifetime warranty and I wanted the darkness of the tint within legal limits. I went to [redacted] today on 12/26/13 for NC car inspection, but failed because of illegal window tint. I couldn't understand why it failed because I passed my previous 2 inspections done at other locations. Even though the inspection failed, I also had to pay $35 to [redacted] I took my car to another business today and they agreed that the tint was illegal. I shouldn't have passed any inspection. Plus they informed me there were two shades of tint used on the windows. [redacted] said I can remove the tint or see if the DMV will clear it. The other business said it wouldn't be cleared by DMV and to have it removed. I went to Auto Audio and said if the DMV doesn't clear my vehicle, would they be willing to remove the tint at their expense because I didn't get what I purchased. I spoke calmly and asked nicely. I showed my receipt. The manager challenged me stating that I didn't purchase lifetime tint when I clearly did. The receipt is marked "L" for lifetime. One of the workers told me that they don't even have a window tint reader. I'm thinking to myself how can you be a window tinting business and don't have the machine to read if it's legal or not? It makes me wonder if the business is shady. It actually proves my case that the tint was beyond the legal limit because they have no way to verify it. The employee told me I would have to pay $100 to have it removed and pay them again to redo the tint. I asked why when it wasn't my fault. While I was speaking with one of the employees, the manager got up from his desk, came to the counter I was standing and slammed my receipt on the counter pointing at the bottom of the receipt. He was pointing at the remark "Not responsible for any problem caused by illegal window tint". He then turned his back and walked away. I was completely disgusted. The employees lowered their heads as if it they were embarrassed. It was completely uncalled for and nobody should be treated like that, especially a female.I interpret that remark as if you ask us for illegal window tint, then we are not responsible. The reason I say this is because I've had a previous car tinted elsewhere and that was one of their stipulations. Some customers like to test their luck and ask for illegal tint, but that's not what I asked for. The manager tried to use that remark on my receipt against me. Since the manager acted in an aggressive manor, I told him that it was no need for him to slam the receipt on the counter. I looked at other employee and thanked him for speaking to me in a respectful manor and I left.I will no longer do any business with the company. All I wanted was the tint to be removed and possible redone for free. I never asked for a refund. Now, I will have to pay someone else to remove the tint just so I can pass inspection. I will find a more reliable company to redo my window tint at a later time.Desired SettlementAt this point I'm requesting that Auto Audio refunds me the $165 I spent on the window tint. It is only fair since I have to find another business with an affordable price for tint removal. I also think the manager could benefit in a customer service tutorial or perhaps an anger management class. Thank you.
