Auto Haus of North Scottsdale Reviews (3)

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Regards,

The business was notified immediately of the damage he caused on my car.  It does no good to refute it.  The car interior was undamaged when it was taken in for an estimate.  The car interior was damaged when it returned from the estimate, period.  The Auto Haus owner claimed that it was something WOMEN WORE ON THEIR SKIN, A LOTION OF SOME SORTS THAT CAUSED THE DAMAGE.  It was amazing to me, in front of his female customers, that they stayed, with this nonsense he was speaking.  How stupid does he think women are?  I absolutely made him face me in person in his waiting room & tell me to my face that he was taking no responsibility.  He tried to do it over the phone & have his shop guy just give me back my key.  He kept the car 1 1/2 days to cause inconvenience, by having no vehicle, before he called to say he was taking no responsibility despite his earlier claim that he would, and to come & pick up the car.  With the overcharging that he was charging us on the repairs, he could have covered his cost to fix easily, had he wanted to.  If we women wore chemicals on our skin that would eat a console lid & armrest, surely our skin would be harmed.  We're talking toxic solvent of some sort.  What woman wears solvent that eats car interiors?  This is what he claimed and that he has seen it before!  What brand of lotion or fragrance would that be?  Moreover, why would it suddenly appear after in his possession.  I have owned the car since  2007.

The repair has been done.  It was $200 to [redacted] to recover the console lid to match.  A very good deal I thought for materials & labor.  It was $285 to remove the door panel & cover to match the door arm rest.  Also by [redacted] Upholstery.  Auto Haus is a bad business owner & I will never take a vehicle to him again ever over $485.00.  His reputation is his own to destroy.

In response to the complaint ID #[redacted]. Customer Mr. [redacted] brought his car in for us to inspect his car and to verify what the MB dealership had recommended for repair.  We inspect the car and release the car to the customer.  Car was in the shop for a total of about 15 minutes.  We...

told the customer we would put an estimate together and send it to him.  We did explain at the time of pick up what we found.  Customer called 2 days later indicating that there were some marks on the center console and arm rest.  I told him when he comes in for repair we will take a look at it and if its something we did we would take care of it.  Customer brought car in about 3 weeks later for the repairs.  I inspected the car and realized that this is not something that we did.  I called the customer and explained to him that this didn't happen in this shop.  I have seen this same issue in the past and was related to some type of petroleum product.  I informed the customer and explained to him what I thought.  The customer called me at 7:30 pm and left a voice mail indicating that I was full of crap and was insulted that I would expect him to believe it.  He then told me to get on the internet and get it handled.  At this time I stop the repairs to the car and realized this was not a relationship I wanted.  I called him back and asked him to pick up the car and I am not fixing the damaged areas on his console and door.  His wife came in that morning and starting telling me what she thought.  She was rude and embarrassing in front of other women customers sitting in the lobby.  I told her I'm sorry but we didn't create this problem and I am not going to fix it.  I run a very straight forward business and what,s right is right.  Customer states that the marks appear that the technician has something on his elbow.  We don't use these type of products and why wasn't on other areas of the car when he drove it in and out.  All technicians have factory training in their background and know how to treat a customers car.  Customer also stated that they took the car to [redacted] for the repairs and [redacted] had indicated that some of the repairs weren't necessary.  We gave the customer an estimate for what the dealership had recommended. Thank you for the time and sorry for the delay.

Review: My husband received an estimate for repair from Autohaus. He drove MY car to & from their place of business. When he returned with my car which I drive infrequently, I noticed when I drove it next that there were melted circles on my console & armrest. When he called they assured us they would take care of it when we brought our vehicle in for scheduled PAID service. 3 Weeks passed before I took it in and after keeping it a day or more, they refused to do the service we hired them to do and returned the car to us with the damage they had done, unrepaired. I spoke to [redacted] in person face to face and he refused to accept responsibility for the damage. He claimed women's body lotions damaged the car even though it is sudden damage not there before we took the car in. He said it was something on my elbows that made the twin marks. More likely it was something his employee had on his elbows since I don't immerse myself in solvents before getting in my vehicle & they work with solvents constantly. [redacted] personally accepted no responsibility. He refused to accept they could have done the damage. I have since had 1 of two repairs that are needed done, that was $200 to reupholster the center console. I have been given a verbal estimate from the same service provider, [redacted] Upholstery, to remove the door panel to reupholster the handle for $285.00 which I will be scheduling to have done. Autohaus was more expensive than [redacted] who did the paid repairs [redacted] refused to do. [redacted] said that some of the work that AUTOHAUS had on their estimate was unnecessary & did the repairs needed for less. For what AUTOHAUS was charging, they could have repaired the damage they caused. [redacted] tried to convince me that I had damaged my own interior on a car that I keep immaculately that has only 44000 miles since 2006. As a business owner I can't imagine why any person would take their vehicle to this dishonest business. I further can't imagine why a woman would trust her vehicle to his care.Desired Settlement: [redacted] owes me the [redacted] upholstery invoice payment I made for $200.00. I have a copy of the paid invoice. He also owes me for the repair of the armrest on the driver's door for $285.00 for repairing the armrest by removing the door & reupholstering the armrest lid. I have yet to take it in because I just got it back & I need my car for work & they will need it for 1 1/2 days to do the repair.
