Re: Case #XXXXXXX

Even though we are currently not members of the Revdex.com I will respond to the customer
complaint.
We did complete the repair as requested by the customer, after which we moved the vehicle
outside...

to warm the engine up to get the air out of the cooling system. My technician was
holding the rpm up approx. 2000 rpm which is a normal procedure. As he was holding the rpm
the engine went into run away. I happened to be standing outside when it happened, I looked
over when the rpm started to get high and my technician was getting out of the car to stop the
engine, as he did the engine sucked in oil out of the charge air cooler and stalled out. I had
them pull off the turbo tubes and check for oil in the intake system. There was a substantial
amount in the tubes. I have just recently taken over the business so I went back over the
vehicle history. I had found the previous owner had rebuilt the engine from a previous runaway
approx. 3 years ago, the turbo itself was replaced approx. 2 years ago. There was another work
order where something was done to the turbo but the work order was unclear just as to what.
The oil filling the cooler was the cause of the runaway and engine damage, also the fact that
the vehicle was not in gear led to the quick rise in rpm. Most vehicle runaways will happen
while driving so the transmission keeps them from reaching too high rpms and causing damage.
It is an unfortunate circumstance not caused by our shop but I was willing to cover the labor for
the repair if the customer provided the parts as a resolution.
Thank You for your interest,

Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 12, 2014/04/23) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
the response from the shop does not make sense
-first, driving over to the shop to get the flange repair initially done by the shop that was faulty, fixed again, I easily exceeded 2000rpm on the drive to the shop, if the "charge air cooler/turbo" was filled with oil then it should have easily gone into runaway on the drive to the shop,
-the car was running fine except for the faulty flange repair done by the shop
-the turbo was changed out by this shop, was the turbo improperly installed by this shop? shop record keeping inadequate?
-the engine was exchanged due to a previous "runaway" repaied by this shop
-just prior to the last repair to the flange the oil was changed by the shop, no mention of oil leaks or error codes or low on oil
-did the shop mechanic damage the turbo while fixing the flange?
-consulting two VW dealerships, if the engine & turbo had been changed out that recently and the shop stands by its quality of work, then only viable reason for a "runaway situation" is over- revving the engine which in itself the runaway can cause oil to be sucked into the turbo / charge air cooler, only the person (shop mechanic)in the drivers seat really knows what the RPMs are- if they are paying attention
-as a new owner taking over an established buisness/clients this does not necessarily excuse the current new owner from obligations /warranties / committments made by the previous management/owner,
- this unfortunate incident is entirely the shop's responsibility and they should be fair & fix the damage they have caused

“Request for Inspection” form is an initial requirement for any Out of Province Inspection in Alberta. Customer can get this form from any registry office in Alberta but remember this form is not free even in registry office. So, in this case customer didn’t...

bring “Request for Inspection” form for inspection so, we informed the customer at first place that you can get this form from registry office and you have to pay there but if you want, we can get this form directly here from registry office and our charges for this service will be $20.00. Customer agreed on second option as it was his convenience. Our charges for inspection are $80 and “Request for Inspection” form is something different which customer needs to bring with him to repair shop to get his/her car inspected. As far as re-inspection charges are concerned, our charges for re-inspection are $49.95 which is posted in front office on a big display board. For re-inspection charges, we also informed customer well in advance that if car leaves the shop for any reason and came back for re-inspection there will be charges for re-inspection which is $49.95 because we are suppose to inspect it again as per requirement of Alberta Transportation. In this case, vehicle failed the inspection due to bad tires and we order the tires as per customer request, mean time customer decided to come back in afternoon as tires were not in stock. Later on, customer came back in afternoon, we installed the tires and performed re-inspection, customer signed both inspection and re-inspection papers as a requirement of Alberta Transportation.
And, we don’t think, it was our fault that we didn’t stock new tires for his/her car, there are lots of other parts as well which we order daily for other customer’s cars.
We hope customer will satisfied with my answer. If not, he is most welcome to verify the facts given in above statement.
Thanks

The vehicle leased to me has not passed inspection due to safety repair issues. Started paying weekly payments; do not have car yet. Traded in my Volkswagen Jetta 2000 for an Acura [redacted] 2002. I signed all paperwork and began making my weekly payments for my car to the bank of $54.63 a week. My car has been under the possession of Auto Imports for two weeks today, and no fixes have been made. Managers gives me the run around, no where to be found. I spoke to the mechanic directly he told me he has not touched that car at all since it came in to the lot because manager hasn't told him what to do with it yet. Manager lied numerous occasions telling me to come and pick up the car that it would be all done and once I get there it is a different story. I recorded mechanic stating he hasn't began working on the car yet, and I have text messages from manager promising the car would get done about a week ago. I continue to make weekly payments to a car I am not driving. Purchase Date: June 12, 2015Dropped off car for repairs: June 19, 2015Was told the car would be originally ready completely fixed by: June 26, 2015Desired SettlementI would like the business to repair all of the necessary repairs for it to pass state inspection, and get my car back. I would also like for the company to repay me the money I paid to the bank for my car when it wasn't under my possession. The following are the repairs needed: - Oil Change- Tune Up- Replace A/C Belt- Replace Serpentine Belt- Replace 2 rear tires- Engine light On (fix)- Hole in the back of drivers seat floor (weld)Business Response Mr. [redacted], dropped off the vehicle without an appointment to get it repaired. He was advised due to dropping off the vehicle without appointment his vehicle would need to wait for a week before it would be able to be repaired. Mr. [redacted] did not bring his vehicle to inspection within the 7 days that it is required to bring car to inspection. Mr. [redacted]' vehicle runs and drives and he would be able to drive his vehicle during that week that it stayed here. Mr. [redacted]' vehicle is currently at the welding repair shop being fixed. His car is being repaired as fast as humanly possible. In response to Mr. [redacted] recording the mechanic, that is illegal and our mechanic was not informed that he was being recorded. Our mechanic feels that his rights have been compromised and is not comfortable with the fact that he was recorded without any knowledge of it. Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)I informed the dealer I would be dropping off the car. I have the text messages. I even asked how long it will take and he said shouldn't be long. Today marks three weeks with out my car and for the last two weeks its been "at the welding repair shop". When I called the welding repair shop the guy that answered said there a muffler shop and that he was told that the car was brought to him to check the exahust and was never told about the hole in the floor that needs the welding. I've also been making the weekly payments for a car that is not in my possession and if I don't make a payment I'm held reliable by the bank. I am an automotive technician and I know the repairs im asking for do not take this long, at the most two days. But, since theres only one mechanic I gave a week. Thats when the dealer stated they where close due to the fact that he was getting married. Then the dealer told pick up the car that friday at 5:00pm I arrived at 4:45pm I called him twice and no answer. I then waited and he never showed. His mechanic then showed up an approached me and said he left around noon time and also said he never touched the car not even once since it has been dropped off. There has been alot of back and fourth and misleading information. I need my car to get to work. I just my car fixed and this will all be resolved.

February 6 2015, I purchased 2003 ford [redacted] with 143,614 milage from auto imports[redacted] street Springfield mass. The purchase price was $4000.00 and an the dealer convinced me to purchase the warranty for an additional $500.00 witch I was told that I was to recieve the warranty in two weeks after the purchase date. 3 weeks after not recieveing it I called him and he said "i will fix it ad that I have his word" I called repeatedly but his phone was "turned off" so I decided to take a 3 hour trip to springfield, on arrivle he said that he woud get it fixed and that I had his "word". todays date is april 7, 2015 and I still do not have me warranty. I called the [redacted] protection plan ([redacted]) and they said that I do no exsist and that the payment was never made.Product_Or_Service: 2003 ford [redacted]Desired Settlement$4500.00 or my warranty as I paid for.

Vehicle under warranty, no work has been done to fix it.On April 27, 2015 I purchased a 2004 Chevy [redacted] from [redacted] at auto imports for $1895.00 cash. It was road ready on May 1st after insurance and registration which was $219.00 cash. I have since brought the car back to his dealership several times for service, which has not been completed. The car was taken for Massachusetts state inspection on May 6th, it failed the safety test, for the front end and airbags. May 7th the car was returned to the dealership via tow because the emergency brake had become stuck and wouldn't disengage . The car remained there for 6 days, 4 of which were business days. I picked the car up on Wednesday May 13th for a funeral I had to attend and no repairs had been done except the emergency brake. I returned the vehicle to the dealership on May 15th for the rest of the repairs to be done. Today is May 19th and the vehicle has not been touched. May 22nd will be the 10th business day that my vehicle has been out of service and I will be seeking a refund if the proper repairs have not been completed by that time.Desired SettlementI would like to have my vehicle serviced before the warranty runs out on May 27th. If by May 22nd the full repairs have not been done, I will be seeking a full refund.

Mr. [redacted]'s wife has been consistently slandering the business name all over social media, bad mouthing the company. For a vehicle that they purchased AND has passed state inspection. They have a very nice safe and reliable vehicle. As a business that provided them with a vehicle and following the law by having their vehicle pass state inspection, it is very hurtful to a small business by having its name slandered all over social media. Along with Mr. [redacted]'s wife slandering the name of the business. Mr. [redacted] was on our lot while we had a new customer purchasing a vehicle. I put a deposit down for 5623.75 on a truck that I never received. They will not give my money back or return my calls. They lie about their work. I went to auto imports to test drive a truck that I wanted to buy. A few days before I bought the truck I was waiting to turn into the post office to mail a letter. I was hit from behind by a girl looking at her radio and she didn't see me. I was hit at 50 mph and my truck was totaled. I needed a vehicle at this point to get to work. I had a rental car but I needed to buy a truck for my business and to get to work. I saw an add online at http://westernmass.[redacted].org/ctd/XXXXXXXXXX.html.I drove 100 miles to test drive this vehicle in Springfield Mass. because it was the same truck as I had before my truck was hit. I really liked this type of truck- chevy [redacted]. After test driving the truck- [redacted] the owner demanded I put half down on the truck. I put down a deposit down of 5,623.75. Before I put the deposit down I was told by [redacted] many lies that I believed at the time. The truck needed some repairs before it was drivable. He promised the company would fix everything by the next day- brakes, new tires, fill fluids to name a few things. He stated to me the truck would be delivered for free on April 29th, 2015. He calls me the next day to say his [redacted] was in the hospital and could not deliver the truck. Saturday and Sunday go by. I call him the next monday several times. No answer. His mechanic calls me and states the transmission needs to be fixed in the truck. I stated to the mechanic that [redacted] said the truck was fine to be delivered last Friday. [redacted] lied to me about the truck being ready. One week goes by and I keep getting excuse after excuse on why the truck won't be ready for delivery. Finally I stated that I didn't want the truck anymore because my rental costs were getting to much and that I needed to find another vehicle. [redacted] stated to me that I would not get any of my money back because I didn't want the truck anymore. He is a lier and a poor business man. He will be going to court with me if my money is not returned in full. He didn't return the truck to me the next day and he lies about his deals. Very fast talker but just wants to steel money from hard working people. I am an [redacted] at a school. I work hard for my money not to just thow it away. I never was given the truck and he owes me now over 6,000 because I am being charged with interest fees on my credit card from his excuses. I am very dissatisfied with this company and if my money is not returned hue will be going to court. He has already been to court a few times over lemon laws. His company needs to be shut down. I have gone to the [redacted] department as well and even the investigators are saying this company is in terrible shape and that these people are not to be trusted. I wish I knew that before I went there. I hope everyone gets a chance to read this and do not go to this place because they are not to be trusted. [redacted] is selling cars that are not up to standards by any means and he states to me that others are interested in buying the same truck that he is. He never saved their information if a deal doesn't go through. If I was him I would keep contact information of people that come into his dealership. If a sale doesn't go through at least have contact information to call people back. Please to everyone looking to buy a vehicle stay away from this place and tell others to do the same. This company needs to be shut down for good!Desired SettlementI would like my money back in full. They owe me $5,623.75. I am not even including the costs of rental charges and credit card fees and gas to go back and forth which add up to over $1000 on top of the 5,623.75. I never received the truck they promised to be fixed and delivered the next day! Now it has almost been a month and my money is still gone and I have suffered because of it. This company thrives screwing over hard working Innocent people.

Refusal to return deposit on canceled deal, and refusal to return my trade-in.On [redacted] 2015. I visited Mr. [redacted]'s place of business, Auto Imports. To test drive a 2001 [redacted] On the test drive I noticed the check engine light was on. After I drove the car we did a walk around and in general terms the car seemed ok for what I needed. I placed a deposit on the car and made arrangements to pick the car up once fixed. We created a make ready list of five issues, including the engine light (which we both signed). Mr. [redacted] made three (3) attempts to fix the car and failed every time (none of the five issues were fixed, including the driver side wiper falling off, he had excuse after excuse why they weren't fixed, and threw his employees under the bus several times). The last time I visited his location (under the pretense the car was fixed and ready to go)Mr. [redacted] tried to convince me to take the car and just go get it inspected [redacted] He stated "if it fails inspection I will fix it later". I canceled the deal, asked for my money back, and I asked for him to return my trade-in (2003 [redacted] that sits on his lot today). After several failed promises he has yet to do either, even though I have been there at the times he requested. I did contact the MSP to see if maybe he would respond to them, but he hasn't. I have filed complaints with: The [redacted] for [redacted] The [redacted] of [redacted] The [redacted] of Springfield licensing board, The [redacted] (going to report my car stolen soon), The [redacted] (detectives), and the [redacted] It should be noted this dealer doesn't post the mandatory consumer buying guides required by state and federal laws nor does he provide the consumer protection / buyers guide (and I have filed complaints about that with the appropriate parties already). As of today he isn't taking my calls (his cell phone voice mailbox if full), although I had others call his number on my behalf they too couldn't reach him (he picked up twice and hung up on the person calling).Desired SettlementReturn of my [redacted] deposit, return of my [redacted]Business Response This situation has been resolved.
