I was looking for reliable transportation to primarily get back and forth from work and get my daughter to and from school/daycare. I read reviews and was apprehensive about buying a car from Auto Masters which I disclosed to the salesperson, James Pentecost, who assured me their particular lot was legit with dependable vehicles. Against my better judgement I believed Mr. Pentecost who looked me in my eyes and shook my hand. Although the car was dirty (I was promised a detail that never happened) and I didn't receive all my paperwork due to the printer failing on 01/02/16 I made a down payment of $750. From that moment the next 30 days would be nothing but a huge headache.
The very next day the battery died causing me to be late for work. I contacted my insurance who sent an agent to jump start my car and 01/03/16 James Pentecost of Auto Masters sent me to Advance Auto to have a new battery installed. I was hoping this incident would be the last of my issues but that wish was far fetched. I noticed my car making a loud knocking noise and on 01/20/16 I contacted my insurance again because my tire blew out. I had not run over a nail and judging from the position of the hole the tire was faulty. My insurance sent an agent to change my tire but was unable to do so due to not having the proper spare equipment. Apparently my car had locked lug nuts which I did not even know existed and the dealership failed to include the key. I contacted Auto Masters and spoke with Sonya who said I could pick up the key from their location across town not to mention it was close to closing time and I had no transportation.
The next day I called my insurance to tow my car to Auto Masters which should've been free within 15 miles but they informed me I would have to pay out of pocket because they were unable to assist me the previous night. I did not have the funds to pay out of pocket because on 01/20/16 I paid $300 towards my car and had recently paid other bills. I missed the first half of my work shift and drove the car as far as I could before parking at a local Sonic. A friend, who was also present at the time of purchase and heard my pleas for a dependable car, picked me up and took me to Auto Masters. Salesperson, Tasha Butler, tried to empathize with me as a mother and explained hardships she's had with transportation. She told me they would have my tire replaced and she would personally deliver my car to my job at the end of my shift. At 5 p.m. she arrived with my vehicle and had scheduled a date to have the knocking noise fixed as well as an alignment because my car veered to the right horribly. My car was scheduled to be fixed on 02/03/16
On the day my car was supposed to be fixed a co worker followed me to drop my car off at 9 a.m. I told Ms. Butler I would call for an update on my lunch break at 1 p.m. because I got off 5 p.m. and must pick up my daughter by 5:30 p.m. I made the call on my lunch break and according to Ms. Butler the part needed had not arrived but was in route and my car would be ready by the time I got off. At 4:40 p.m. I called and was placed on hold for six minutes so I hung up and headed towards their location. A co-worker dropped me off at 5:15 p.m. and when I arrived Tasha and the mechanic were walking towards my vehicle parked in the same spot I had left it at 9 a.m. They said they were about to test my vehicle that had been in their possession eight full hours. Nothing was repaired as promised. I asked for my keys because I was late picking up my daughter. I spoke with Mr. Pentecost who advised I receive a loaner car for 48 hours so the issued could be thoroughly inspected. Later that night on 02/03 after speaking to James about receiving a loaner while driving on the interstate all electricity went out in my car causing me and my child to be stuck on the side of the road for nearly two hours in the cold.
On 02/04/16 I received a two door loaner car without a rear view mirror which I preferred not to receive but they claimed it was the only option they had available. Again the car was dirty with no gas and unfortunately I had just filled my tank. My first car payment was due on 02/06/16 and I contacted both Mr. Pentecost and Ms. Butler asking for an update on my car. I told them both in my messages that I did not intend on paying my payment until I received the car I agreed to pay on. No one returned my messages. On 02/11/16 I called the front desk and spoke with Diana asking for an update on my car repairs. Sonya Webb later returned my call. She said her associate informed her I didn't intend on paying my payment. I added until my car was ready for pick up. I assured her if she had my car ready today I would have my payment same day. She said there were no updates on my car and I could consider this a repossession. The same evening of 02/11/16 I went to Walmart with my daughter and upon exiting saw my vehicle being towed. I was out $1050 and a car.
