Auto Max of Prescott

I had to deal with the owner of the place and it was a horrible experience. He talks down to his customers and comes across as a total jerk. He will never get another penny from me to support his business. The only good person there is [redacted]. If you really want to get your car fixed fairly, honestly, and from a good person, seek him out and ask him to do the work on the side. STAY AWAY FROM AUTOMAX....apparently the owner with his attitude does not need the business anyhow....it's a shame it's not owned by the good guy there.

As I went into the office to see Dan about my car, he was in the middle of lecturing another customer because the small dog she was holding barked. I was embarrassed for her as he spoke in a very unprofessional, demeaning, and condescending manner to her.

I had a coolant leak in my car and wanted him to find out what the problem was. He charged me $42. to tell me my car had a cracked surge tank, and I was fine with the charges. However, he wanted to install an after market replacement tank. I do not want after market parts on my car, so asked him about obtaining an original (OEM) part. He told me that the dealer wanted over $250. for the part. I offered to buy an OEM part online, and provide it to him to install. That’s when he became rude, saying “he does not install other peoples parts”.

Having no other choice, I ordered the OEM part anyway for half the price he was quoting me with the intention of installing it myself, but got stuck, as I needed a special tool to remove other components to get to the tank.

When I called Dan to see if he would install the part for me, he rudely refused basically leaving me hanging apparently because he couldn’t include the mark-up for his owe profit using the same part from the local dealer.

Fortunately for me, I called John of Arizona Automotive in [redacted], where I had repair work done in the past. I explained the situation to John, and he said it wouldn’t be any problem at all to install the new part, but with the caveat that he could not warranty the new part.

John, like a friend when you need him, always willing to work with his customers vs. Dan, a greedy, and rude man who doesn’t mind ripping-off his.

I’ll never go back to Auto Max again, and don’t recommend this nasty tempered man to anyone else either.
