Shady business practices. We had cash 4 car. We wanted title. Too bad.

Dealer listed a vehicle for sale that was an employee's vehicle titled in the employee's name. When it came time to do the paperwork, it was revealed that the dealer did not own the vehicle therefore they could not provide tags or warranty. After purchasing and driving the vehicle, several issues arose within days. The seller will not take responsibility and the dealer said they didn't know him and he wasn't an employee despite the transaction taking place in their office. They then cussed out my husband and said there wasn't [expletive] we could do about it. Why did they advertise a vehicle as theirs when they weren't selling it and wouldn't take responsibility for?

2007 Volkswagen Jetta with the VIN of *** has never been belong to Auto Nova. This vehicle belonged to ***. There are several traffic tickets from several states he got prior to September 2019. He parked his car at Auto Nova’s lot and met with customers for his car in Auto Nova’s lot.

Customer who filed this complaint talked with *** through *** personal *** account prior to visit the car. When customer came to test drive the vehicle, they got informed that this car belongs to *** who they’d talked with through *** and he was meeting with people in Auto Nova’s lot for his own car.

If a car is already registered to Missouri, it only needs Safety and Emission Inspections at the time of registration. In private sales, inspections are not obligated to be done by the seller. Yet, *** completed both Safety and Emission inspections. Plus, since previous owner of this vehicle was a New York resident, *** also completed ID/OD inspection to register the car to Missouri. Because of these, at the time of sale, there were 3 separate successful inspections were done on this car. Customer received Safety and Emission inspections at the sale. ID/OD inspection report was given to License Office by *** to register his car at Missouri.

Auto Nova hadn’t bought this car from anybody and car had never belonged to Auto Nova. *** found customers for his own car through *** and this customer is also came through *** and contacted with *** through his own personal *** account. Auto Nova cannot be responsible for a car that had never been belong to Auto Nova. Yet, Auto Nova patiently tolerated this customer’s and her husband’s behaviors after the sale.

As security camera recordings proves, customer’s husband came to Auto Nova and asked ***. Then he explained that he bought a 2007 Jetta frm *** through ***. When he learned that *** is not at Auto Nova, he said that he has free time to wait *** until the end of that day, next day, the day after that and whole month. He requested to give the car to Auto Nova. As the reason, he said that odometer is broken, and car is lemon.
Auto Nova explained the fact that ID/OD inspection checks odometer and decides if the car is lemon or clean. Auto Nova also informed him that this car had 3 successful inspections at the sale time. Auto Nova explained that cars odometer was valid by inspections and current *** report. After that, he accused Auto Nova with “registering a lemon car on someone else’s name and trying to sell it without taking responsibility”. This accusation is also not true and there are proofs that show car has belonged to *** even before he moved to Missouri. After these, he wasn’t satisfied with the facts and he said that he was going to sue Auto Nova. Then while he was leaving, he slammed the Auto Nova’s door so hard that wall
decoration next to door fell down. Auto Nova wasn’t the cussing party in this event and Auto Nova wasn’t the outraging party neither. Security Cameras recorded all of these.

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because:
I never had any type of communication or knew of *** or his vehicle before stepping foot onto Auto Nova's lot. Saying we messaged on *** and met at the lot is 100% not true. I have never had any *** contact nor had I had any communication with *** until after the deal was made on Auto Nova's lot. Auto Nova says they never owned the vehicle but advertised the vehicle as being part of their inventory on their website, their *** page, and on ***. I visited your lot after seeing your cars on *** and asked for the vehicles in my price range. The salesman showed us 4 vehicles, this vehicle being one of them. Auto Nova did not try to make this right or help, they just immediately denied responsibility and told us we couldn't do anything about it. They denied responsibility for a car sitting on their lot that they advertised as their inventory. For a car Auto Nova has no responsibility to, Auto Nova sure has quite a bit of information on and knows quite a lot about it. Auto Nova has offered no resolution.
