To whom it may concern:The oil leak on ***'s car did not just start. On January 15, 2015, *** brought her car in for an oil change. Our staff informed her prior to starting the oil change, that the oil drain plug previously installed by someone else appeared to be a self
tapping oil drain plug typically used for a stripped out oil pan, and the plug was starting to leak. She was also advised about another oil leak on the backside of the engineShe asked us to finish the oil change and she would have "her mechanic" look at it.On July 27, 2015, *** brought her car in for another oil change. Our staff again informed her that the self tapping drain plug we discussed Jannuary was still leaking upon arrival and would not tighten upThe proper fix was to replace the oil pan. We installed a Napa Brand Universal Oil Drain Plug Seal to help seal the oil leak until she could have it properly repaired by "her mechanic". Our staff also noted the other oil leak(s) from the rear of the engine area were now moderate to excessive and should be repaired*** informed us again "her mechanic" would fix itOn September 2, 2015, *** brought her car in suspecting the engine was low on oilWe confirmed that the engine oil was 2-1/quarts low, we added oil, and added oil leak dye to help her mechanic identify the other leaks on the engineOur staff once again informed her to get that oil pan repaired as previously discussed because the universal oil drain plug seal was not the proper repairOn September 11th, *** brought her car in and asked if we could check the oil leak dye added days earlier. I told her we found oil leak dye on the rear on the engine, around the head gaskets, and on the turbo feed linesThere was very minor dye on the temporary oil drain plug. I told her once again that she needed to get those oil leaks fixed by "her mechanic". On September 23, 2015, *** came to the shop with a young man whom I assumed was "her mechanic" with the old oil pan and an invoice from another auto repair shop, requesting that I pay this invoice because we caused the problem. The mechanic also said that I should pay the invoice or they would post bad review online against my Revdex.com AAA rating if I didn't pay. We kept *** well informed on every visit about those oil leaks and advised her what to repair. We never prepared a quote because shewas always goint to have "her mechanic" fix it. As an auto repair shop, all we can do with our clients is to advise them to best of our abilities. On different occasions we advised *** what to fix. It is and always has been her decision whom or where she would like repairs to be made. There seems to be more to this situation than I am being told. After telling *** on multiple visits since January to fix the oil leaks properly, we she kept telling us her mechanic would fix the oil leaks and then keep coming back to us with the same problem. I almost feel like we were intentionally being setup. I told *** and "her mechanic", I wouldn't pay for a repair that we didn't cause. I also will not pay for a repair we didn't cause just because someone threatens to post bad online reviews if didn't pay.Respectfully,*** *** * *** Auto Select, Inc

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, we would like to know your view on the matter.]I had the oil change done & Auto Select did not recommend a new set of tires installedI requested it & had to tell Matt Salchert numerous times, like about times to go ahead & order themThere wasn't very much snow or ice & had to use wheel drive to get out of driveway & then forget to disengage most of the time.As far as the ball joints, I wasn't having any problems & don't agree with the expedited necessity of having them replacedIt could have waited for a month or twoI don't drive around town too much & don't go on tripsThe total was around $I went in the deeply in debt several years ago & just got out of debt last fall. The axle pan cover wasn't leakingI never saw a drop in my driveway or even on the snow or iceThe mount was around $I believe it could have waited a monthI wasn't given the opportunity to inspect the axle pan cover. To add up the tires, ball joints & axle pan cover axle pan cover, the total was around $The battery, towing & heater fan motor were I believe a necessity & were required & caused by the cold weatherI don't have a problem with the latter, just the ball joints & axle pan coverThe total cold weather repairs were around $2000. I get $VA & $SDD monthly benefitsI am not rich, but finally getting out of debt.I wasn't really given any opportunity to waitAuto Select both the ball joints & axle pan cover were in dire needI feel I was pressured.*** E *** Regards,

Regards,
Kathy [redacted]

December 12, 2017, Mr. [redacted] brought his vehicle in for an Oil Change.  We recommended to replace his tires because they were worn to almost bald at 1-2/32 tread depth and to replace the Rear Differential Cover because it was rusted through and leaking gear lube, a condition...

that could cause differential failure due to lack of lubrication.  On that day, only the Oil change was performed. December 20, 2017, Mr. [redacted] brought his vehicle in to have the tires replaced that we recommended on the previous visit.  While installing the new tires, we found the abnormal tire wear was caused in part because both upper ball joints were worn with excessive movement and a possible wheel alignment issue.  The lower ball joints were OK and not recommended to be replaced.  On that day, only replaced the tires. On December 21, 2017, Mr. [redacted] brought his vehicle in to have the Upper Ball Joints replaced and a Wheel Alignment. On December 22, 2017, Mr. [redacted] brought his vehicle in to have the Rear Differential Cover replaced, per our previous recommendation. On January 2, 2018, Mr. [redacted] had his vehicle towed in because it would not start with the temperature at -10 degrees.  We found the Battery had failed.  After the battery was replaced, the vehicle started and passed all starting and charging system tests. On January 5, 2018, Mr. [redacted] brought the vehicle in because the Blower Motor for the Heater would not turn off when the vehicle was turned off, thus draining the battery overnight.  The temperature that day was -15 degrees.  We found the Blower Motor resistor overheated and failed, causing the Blower to continue running even with the vehicle turned off.  We replaced the Blower Motor resistor and the Wire Harness to the Resistor.  the Blower Motor itself was OK.  The corrected the symptom. On January 9, 2018, Mr. [redacted] filed a complaint with this office.   We agree, Mr. [redacted] spent a lot of money is a short period of time for the Tires, Upper Ball Joints, Wheel Alignment, Battery, and Blower Motor Resistor, all repairs were needed and approved.  We do not pressure our clients to make any repairs, we make our professional recommendations, and always let the client decide.  I believe this is demonstrated with Mr. [redacted] having recommended repairs done days after initially discussed.  The Battery and Blower Motor issues were a direct result of the sub-zero weather and the age of his vehicle. On January 10, 2018,We discussed the above visits with Mr. [redacted] and agreed the Tire needed Replacement and the other repairs were needed.  He also agreed the Battery and Blower Motor issues with sub-zero temperature related and just poor timing with the other things just done.  He stated his main concern was the big credit card bill he was facing when the statement came.  To help alleviate this payment burden, we applied and got him approved for $1,000 Credit Limit with our Car Care One credit card which gives him 6-months no interest before the payment is due with a small minimum monthly payment schedule.  We then applied a $1,000 credit to his initial credit card and charge $1,000 to his new Car Care One card, giving him the 6 months to pay off.   In addition, we also applied a $50 credit to his initial credit card, for points that he earned from his previous repairs, with our new Rewards Program, in an effort to lower his balance due.  Mr. [redacted] seemed very satisfied, reported as such to this office that his issue was resolved, and the Complaint was Closed as Resolved. On January 17, 2018, the Complaint was reopened again, prompting this reply.   We are empathetic about Mr. [redacted]'s financial concerns and the unfortunate timing, but the worn tires, worn Upper Ball Joints, and weather related issue with the battery and blower motor were not caused by us.  I believe, and initially so did Mr. [redacted], we made every efforts to help him out.Respectfully,[redacted]Auto Select - Stevens Point

To whom it may concern:My apology for the late reply, per the last conversation between Mr. [redacted] and our people at the Stevens Point location, we thought the matter was resolved.  One of our responsibilities as an auto service provider to insure that our client's vehicle's are safe.  We conduct vehicle inspections, consult with our clients our findings, and provide estimate options.  At that point, the decision is always with our clients and never pressure anyone to make a decision.  On Mr. [redacted]'s Trailblazer, the original equipment upper ball joints are made with a non-greaseable plastic design with a small stud which are prone to premature failure because of that design.  If you have ever saw a vehicle on the side of the road with a front tire bent over, that is usually caused by a ball joint failure, a safety issue we try to prevent.  In addition, the extra movement caused by excessively worn ball joints leads to abnormal front tire wear, a condition we're also trying avoid with the new tires just purchased. The rear differential on Mr. [redacted]'s vehicle only holds slightly less than 2-quarts of gear lube.  Gear lube as a heavier thickness than motor oil and will not always drip on the ground, especially in colder temperatures.  The rear differential cover was starting to rust through, allowing gear lube to leak out.  With the small gear lube capacity, a condition that can cause premature differential failure from lack of lubrication, a much more costly repair we want to prevent. We are empathetic to cost of these repairs, especially when a client is on a fixed income.  However, we want to prevent even more costly repairs that can add to financial responsibilities we all live. Our solution to this is to offer our CFNA charge card that provides 6-months of deferred interest so our clients can either pay for repairs, service, tires in 6-months, or make 6 equal payments.  This is what we did for Mr. [redacted] so he has 6-months to pay without interest, a even better solution than waiting until next month as he suggested.I believe we provided Mr. [redacted] with a good solution to get his vehicle fixed before something more costly happened again and 6 months to pay, which addressed his fixed monthly income financial concerns.  Sincerely,[redacted]Auto Select, Inc.###-###-####

We originally repaired a wiper issue in July 2017 because the vehicle's wipers had NO MOVEMENT, a condition created because the Wiper Transmission (Linkage) assembly broke. We installed a new Wiper Linkage Assembly and the symptom was corrected. The wipers had been...

working properly until late December when we received a call that the wipers were not working properly, they were Parking nearly straight up in the middle of the windshield when turned off instead of properly parking into the windshield cowling.  At that time we dis-assembled and diagnosed that the wiper motor was the cause of the wiper parking problem when the wiper were not in use, not a defective wiper transmission (linkage) assembly.  The wiper motor and the wiper transmission only fits in one way, so I don't understand how they were installed improperly and worked for 5 months.  Having to order a new wiper motor and wait for it to arrive, we re-assembled and returned the vehicle until the part arrived.Scott [redacted], I believe the boyfriend of Ms. [redacted], decided to bring the vehicle to another shop, [redacted], for a second opinion.  After talking to [redacted], I understand they made a slight ("a few inches from the proper parking location") adjustment on the wiper linkage.  They didn't seem to know anything about the center windshield wiper parking symptom we experienced and that Ms. [redacted] complained about.  I suspect the vehicle may have an intermittent electric wiper motor failure problem which can be affected by cold weather temperatures or snow.  If it's an intermittent issue with the wiper motor, only time will tell and confirm for us.  I do know, the straight up wiper parking condition we had in December was caused by the wiper motor and was not corrected by a few inch adjustment to the wiper transmission.Mr. [redacted] was demanding a $350 refund from our July repair, a request that I denied for the reasons listed above.  I've left 2 messages with Ms. [redacted] to work through and resolve this issue, with no response.  I'm disappointed that I haven't been able to talk to her directly and now have resolve it through this complaint process.  I don't want any client to be disappointed in our service. However, the wiper transmission (linkage) assembly we originally replaced for you in July is not defective. Our 3 Year 36,000 Mile warranty would cover its failure if that was the case.  The last concern is our original inspection and labor charge to replace the wiper linkage in July was only $98.03, so why the $141.21 charge to make an adjustment?  The amount seems excessive. Please feel free to contact me directly to discuss further: ###-###-#### or [redacted]Thanks!Joshua [redacted] - Auto Select Green Bay

Extremely disappointed with Auto Select. I needed tires for my car, and I called this company. At first they were extremely accommodating, promising they'd get the tires by the next day, and fit me in their schedule the next day. I arrived at the location, waited for an hour (as they were trying to squeeze me in their schedule) and was then told that they never took the tires I'd ordered off of the truck. With a promise to customer satisfaction, they asked me to come in the following day (today, Saturday). So, I had to drive home (45 minutes from their location) on a bad set of tires. I was told I would receive a phone call when my tires came in, either that night or the next morning. Upon not receiving a phone call last night or this morning, I called them. They are not open. Thankfully another business was able to help. I've come to Auto Select multiple times before for my tires, I don't know what is happening to their honest reputation...

Review: I dropped my vehicle off for an alignment check and new tires at Auto Select around 9am and was told the service would be done around 1pm. Around 11am my wife and I were on our way to the store when we seen our truck being driven down the road so we followed them and the driver dropped someone off at the hospital and the we followed them to another business where the driver picked up parts for Auto Select. We drove back to Auto Select to ask why our truck was being driven and [redacted], ([redacted]) told us that another costumer's car broke down so he had an employee drive our truck to drop off that costumer at work (the hospital) and also to pick up tires for the business. I told him that I was not happy that they are using our truck as their company vehicle and shuttle survice and he said they do it all the time and it's legal because I signed the paperwork and I told him that me signing the paperwork is for him to test drive the work done to the truck and he said he didn't do nothing wrong. I asked for my truck back and not to install the new tires that I am going to take it somewhere else. I was charged $89 for the alignment and paid that and left. The next day I took my truck to another place to get tires and they also checked the alignment and told me that the alignment was not fixed. I then took the paperwork back to Auto Select and explained to them that the work that they said they did and charged me for was not done and I wanted my money back for the alignment that wasn't done and money for gas for them using my truck for their business. [redacted] told me that he is not going to refund my money because they did do an alignment check. I have the printouts from both places on the alignment and it is clear Auto Select didn't do the work that I was charged.Desired Settlement: Money back for the alignment check

money for gas

money for them renting my truck for the day

To who it may concern:

At around 9:30 am (time our repair order printed) on January 27, 2014, a gentleman named [redacted] brought his 2010 Toyota Tundra SR5 into our shop, Auto Select, in Green Bay for new tires and a wheel alignment. He requested to have this work completed by 12:00 pm, a slightly tighter schedule than we normally work with, but obtainable. We performed the initial pre-alignment road test, the wheel alignment, and the post-alignment road test first, to be sure there we no other conditions present that may affect the wheel alignment and normal wear to the new tires. As we were about to take the post alignment road test, a local hospital employee en-route to work encountered a car problem near our shop and needed a ride to work. We also needed to pick up the tires for Mr. [redacted]'s truck from our warehouse, located 2.2 miles from the shop. In a genuine goodwill effort to get the stranded hospital employee to work, meet Mr. [redacted]'s 12:00 pm pickup time, and perform the post-alignment quality control test drive, we did indeed use Mr. [redacted]'s truck. We put a total of 6.2 miles on the vehicle.

Shortly after 11:00am, another gentleman came into the shop, only identifying himself as the [redacted] of the truck, demanding his truck back because he followed our employee using his truck for company business of shuttling customers and picking up parts. I'm going to assume that he is the person who filled this complaint. Since the alignment was already performed, we asked for payment for that service. Mr. [redacted] was given an invoice with the pre-alignment and post-alignment specifications sheets attached. Mr. [redacted] paid for alignment with his Visa card, and the gentlemen left.

The following day, the 2 gentlemen returned demanding their money back, now claiming we did not perform the wheel alignment, per the Toyota dealership. We declined that refund because the alignment was performed and documentation was provided the previous day.

Because our Green Bay operator, [redacted], was so concerned about not meeting a client's expectation, he contacted Mr. [redacted] the following day to assure him that...

...we were not using that truck for transporting multiple customers, only 1 in a time of need.

...we were not picking up multiple vehicle parts, only his tires.

....we would provide him a Gas Card with more than the 6.2 totaled miles put on the vehicle, which at most is 2 miles more than a normal road test(s) would accumulate.

Mr. [redacted] declined the goodwill offer.

We will refund Mr. [redacted] for his wheel alignment only because we used his vehicle to provide the stranded hospital worker a ride to work.

Sincerely,

Auto Select, Inc.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Review: I took my Volkswagen Jetta to Auto Select on 7/27/15 to get my oil changed. They ended up stripping out my oil pan and replacing my "drain plug" with something that was more like a dry wall plug and caused my oil to leak. I took my car back to Auto Select on 9/11/15 and they said that my head gasket and turbo feed lines was what needed to be replaced, the estimate they gave more for that was $1,495 for the head gasket and $100.00 for the turbo lines. I ended up taking my car to another shop and they told me that the only thing that needed to be replaced was my oil pan which came out to be $318.52 which Auto Select caused. I would like Auto Select to pay the fee for having my oil pan replaced and also refunding me $19.99 that they charged me for having the "drain plug" replaced that once again was more like a dry wall plug.Desired Settlement: I would like Auto Select to pay for my oil pan being replaced witch was $318.52 and also refunded me $19.99 for the "temporary drain plug" that they put in and wasn't even made for the oil pan.

We confirmed that the engine oil was 2-1/2 quarts low, we added oil, and added oil leak dye to help her mechanic identify the other leaks on the engine. Our staff once again informed her to get that oil pan repaired as previously discussed because the universal oil drain plug seal was not the proper repair. On September 11th, [redacted] brought her car in and asked if we could check the oil leak dye added 9 days earlier. I told her we found oil leak dye on the rear on the engine, around the head gaskets, and on the turbo feed lines. There was very minor dye on the temporary oil drain plug. I told her once again that she needed to get those oil leaks fixed by "her mechanic". On September 23, 2015, [redacted] came to the shop with a young man whom I assumed was "her mechanic" with the old oil pan and an invoice from another auto repair shop, requesting that I pay this invoice because we caused the problem. Review: May 14, 2014 brought my 02 toyota rav4 into Auto Select [redacted] because I was having issues when I accelerated , it was slipping and lagging and wouldn't change gear until it hit 3 on the rpm. after about an hour and half, Tony came and told me it was the transmission that was the problem. I told him ok and would look elsewhere to find a good price. he insisted I do it right away so He quoted me 2 prices, $3900 for new and $3400 for rebuilt. I told him if I was going to do this I wanted the brand new transmission and not rebuilt. so I agreed to have it serviced there for the new transmission for $3900. my total bill came to $3979.47. Thurs 5-15-14 I was told to pick up my car right when it closed at 6pm. I drove it home it was fine. Tues 5-20-14 the same issues happened again which almost got me into an car accident. the gas wouldn't move the car because the acceleration was stuck at 3-4 on the rpm. I called auto select back and talked to tony and he told me to bring it back in. he had one of the mechanics opened my hood, unplugged something, plugged it back in and test drove it. came back and said the plugged was dirty or clogged. a week later wed5-28 still same issue, I had my fiance go in with me and talk to tony to see what was going one when I paid for a new transmission. we had also called lemieux Toyota in green bay wi to see if the transmission was new or rebuilt. with the vin number on my car they told us that the transmission that was installed was a rebuilt. we questioned tony and he didn't know how to answer that except it came straight from Toyota. so we all agreed I would drop my car on thurs 5-29 to get it worked on fri 5-30. they kept my car for a whole week. my fiance had called to see what was going on since we didnt hear anything from them.. Tony had told my fiance that it was the pcm, the [redacted]n computer board that was going to run around $200. then my friend called and tony told him it was the shift gear(not sure if that is the correct term) so tony is giving us different stories and not a straight answer. Today my fiance and I went in and he said he said he was sure it was the computer board that is messed up and not sure which wire was wrong and was not going to test each wire to see. first of all, he took advantage of me because I feel that I was a girl who didnt know anything about cars, then he gave us round around answers. the problem is still not fixed and he wanted another $1500 to get the computer fixed. I did not want to be scammed anymore and we told him to put the old one back in and we will take the car out and take somewhere else. I feel that they did not do a clear diagnose and automatically assume it was the transmission which charged me new one but got a rebuilt transmission. I would like them to finish the job at no cost to me since they overcharged me on the transmission.Desired Settlement: Finish the job, fix the problem I had brought in the first place at no cost to me since I was overcharged. it was suppose to be a new transmission installed but what is in there is a rebuilt.

Michael and the team at Auto Select consistently reflect extraordinary customer service. They are honest and trustworthy. My 18 year old daughter had a total car meltdown and I was out of town. They helped her through a stressful situation, even driving her to work so she wouldn't be late. I will never have to search for that Fox Valley car service partner again.
