Review: I recently had a replacement of both Front Strut assemblies for my car. The amount that I was charged was 273.58 for the parts and according to the office personnel, this is the List price (The price that they HAVE to purchase the parts for in order to perform the auto repair) But going to another two repair shops, one stating that the list price that is the same for all repair shops ...... The list price from another repair shop in the same area said that the parts for replacement would cost $110.00 per assembly. Now, I am not arguing the labor, that I understand will change from Shop to shop. and the charge for labor on this receipt falls into a reasonable range, and based on my research for the area of Charles Town area, the charge for labor for the replacement of the Struts was between 179.00 - 229.00 for labor and the labor charge was 204.40. Again I am not arguing that portion, the portion in question is the parts.

The Parts Listed were the Right and Left Front Strut Assembly - The charge was 273.58, and there is a shop not two miles away that for the same assembly it was 242.46 and it was the same for both right and left assemblies.

According to the different and various places I have spoken to and researched, I get that shops have to make a profit: but if both shops are looking for listed parts through essentially the same service that provides them with the listed price for the part, how can one come up with 273.58 and the other come up with 242.46. A difference in 31.12 (62.24 for both parts)

And I went to another Mechanic and according to the research for the same part for the same vehicle, He had list price for the parts found for 110.00 per unit which would be 163.58 per side.

After the service was completed, and I received my car back, I noticed that the right front tire when turning was making weird noises, and I went back to them and they took it for a test drive and said that the reason why is because "They missed something by accident, and that the part was about 12 dollars and he reiterated that it was not their fault because underneath was so messed up that it was easy to miss." And that it was going to take awhile for the Struts to adjust to the car, and that it would go away, It has still not gone away, and when I took the vehicle to the mechanic I typically use to change my oil. I asked him to take a look at the repair that was done, and provided the receipt of what was done for replacing the struts on the car. We also asked him if he could take it for a test drive and let us know what he thought.

After the mechanic took it for a test drive, he put the vehicle on a lift and took a look at the undercarriage of the car, and to check for anything he thought was causing the issue. and the mechanic pointed out that the undercarriage was fine and there was no damage to the undercarriage, and that the parts that we were told were replaced were parts that were not causing the noise with the Right wheel. and that the cause of the issue with the Right front tire was actually the Axle being broken and it would have been easily noticed by a knowledgeable mechanic. and for the mechanics that replaced the struts on my car should have seen that the Axle would have needed replaced as well. And seeings how I had a $1088.34 bill I would expect that this would have been caught and brought to my attention.Desired Settlement: According for the information that was provided by the mechanic we typically use.

Parts for repair: 110.00 per side (220 TOTAL)

Plus the tires replaced: 294.96

Labor: 204.40

Plus Sales Tax: 6% (43.16)

TOTAL: 762.52

Difference between this total and the total charged (1088.34): 325.82

Refund the amount difference and call it even.
