Auto Shack Auto Repair Reviews (1)

sometime around april or may I took my [redacted] to the auto shack repair in kinston nc. I was first told that it was the starter I allowed [redacted] to proceed with the repairs after the starter was put on he called me and said that the car still wouldnt turn over I heard omeone in he background say the [redacted] motor is locked up. so he told me that I was gonna need a new motor he gave me a quote of around 2900.00 thats including the motor and labor and also whatever fluids hat would be needed. I gave him the ok to do the repairs I told him to take his time doing the repairs that would on 5/12/2015 I put a deposit down of 1750.00. didnt rush him on 8/28/2015 I picked the car up paying him the remaining balance of 926.33 I drove the car I notice their was a loud squiling noise. I took the car back to him now he says I need a harmonic balancer this part should have came on the motor he told me that he took the part off my old motor before that I was told that he had to turn my old motor in as a core charge.he charged me a 151.13 on 09/04/2015 I paid him the 151.13 I got the car and drove it for about an hour the check the engine light comes on so I call him back telling him that the check the engine light is on and I cant get the car inspected because of the light he tells me to bring the car back in this time he says its the evap purge tank he charged me 40.00 for that and took upon himself to have the car inspected so when I go to pick the car up on 9/24/2015 I had o pay him a total of 72.70 I ask him how did he get the car inspected being that it had a hea light out and the windshield wiper on the passenger side was completely missing he said he wasnt worried about the wipers or light he just wanted to get that light off long enough to get it inspected. I got the car about a day later the check the engine light comes back on the motor sounds like its surging and has a slight tick to it when I took it back to him and this time he says its the power steering pump and some codeson october 24,2015 I submitted a complaint against this same bussiness since then my car has put me down the the check engine light began to flash while I ws on my way home from work the motor was running rough it was stalling I took the car to [redacted] they said I had a misfire I then took it to [redacted] garage on [redacted] nci ask him to look at the car I explain to him that I just had a motor put in the car and would the spark plugs be changed if a motor had been replace he said yes they should have been changed but not the coils I then ask him to put the car on a lift so he could look under the car to tell me his professional opinion if the motor had been changed out he explain to me that any motor brought from a savage yard would have some type of markings on it to identify wher it came from and you wouldd be able to tell if the bolts had been taken out I had him to put some new spark plugs in the said that a new starter had been put on an they did change the gasket on the engine h said his opinion is that he may have fix whatever was going on with my motor but it has not been replaced I also looked on the receipt that the auto shack gave me under th labor dscription it has R&R transfer what is R&R if te name of their business is the auto shack I fel very violated for someone to take my hard earned money like this thinking I would never find out prime example of a mechanic taking advantage of a womanDesired Settlementi would like the total amount back that I paid to him minus the starter I saw it was a new starter put up there. he also charged me for charging the air condition it doesnt work. and no farthr contact with them I also would like othr people to know that they lie about the service they do Business Response The fact that I even have to make time to respond to this complaint on the Revdex.com website is appalling. Firstly, Ms.[redacted] (and yes, I will state your name since you found it necessary to use my Operations Manager's name in your complaint), since you were so unhappy with our work, you were told (by my Operations Manager) to get a second opinion from a reputable repair facility, specifically Sale [redacted], and return to us with a written estimate. Instead you chose to get a second opinion from a garage that has been in business for less than a year and who we have GAINED customers from due to his incompetence. May I add that we have all required insurances and our technicians are ASE certified. Secondly, if we did not replace the motor in your vehicle then why do we have receipts from our suppliers for your motor and the fluids and accessories required to perform the swap? If you would have taken your vehicle to a reputable repair facility for your second opinion, you would find that there are THREE non-removable warranty placards on that motor. You asked us to retrieve your vehicle and diagnose the problem. The starter was bad and upon replacing the starter my technician found that the motor was locked up. This means the motor was SEIZED and would not start. It would not be cost effective to repair a motor that is locked up and the most effective fix is to install a new or used replacement motor. Yet you are accusing us of not changing out the motor in your vehicle-even though we have receipts as proof of purchase. Since your vehicle was not running when we got it, there is no way for us to know if there were any more problems with your vehicle UNTIL a new motor was installed. Lastly, if you read your invoice carefully, you will see that it says, "R&R ENGINE AND TRANSFER PARTS" in the labor line. Our business name is stated at the top middle of the invoice. "R&R ENGINE AND TRANSFER PARTS" means this: REMOVE AND REPLACE ENGINE AND TRANSFER ALL PARTS FROM THE EXISTING MOTOR TO THE NEW MOTOR. This includes parts such as the alternator, starter, PULLEYS, TENSIONERS, IGNITION COILS, and the list goes on. [redacted].Consumer Response I somewhat expect response like this from a group of unprofessional individals the bottom line is that I was charged over 3000.00 in total and I have been told by several people that the motor has not been changed out in my car there are no signs of any tampering with any of the bolts there are no markings on the motor that it same from a savage yard when I took my car to the auto shack I told them to take his time on it I wanted it right and also that would give me time to get the money up.im out of 3000.00and each time I would take the car back aand tell them that the engine ssounds bad he comes up with a different problem and another price the reason I know im dealing with a fraud is when I took the car back to him telling them that the check engine light is on and I couldnt get the car inspected he came up with it needed a evap tank then he took it upon himself to get it inspected the car had no windshield wiper on the passenger side there was no wipr what so evr up there alo the low beam headlight on the passenger side was out when I went to pick up the car I ask him how did he get it inpected he added he wasnt worried about the small things his main concern was getting the light off long enough to get it inspected thats another issure I will contact the [redacted] fruad dept to report this matter also I was totlly unaware of how unprofessional this buisness really is I didnt let the apperance affect my judgement the fact the shop is in his back yard his website was very impressive. now the so call operational mananger [redacted] tells me to take the car to a dealer he wont repect another mechanic opinion my question is why not and as for going to the dealer I paid him all my money so therefore I cant afford to spend anyore money on this car I should have took it to the dealer in the beginning at least they wouldnt have told me to turn my radio up loud so I wont hear how the car sounds totally unprofessional. he has no respect for th fact that I gave his business a chance im seeking my mony back for everything except the starter and labor I was also told that he did change the gasket on the op of th engine and for the R an R transfer I [redacted] that business the only one I could find was out of state an why didnt I recceivee a copy of the warranty for the motor after all I paid for it im pretty sure he will come up with some receipts but the proof is how my car sounds and runs I want a refund and last but not least what business tells a paying customer correction a paid customer to go [redacted] themselves as wll as the Revdex.com no respect and down right unprofssionalFinal Business Response As we have previously stated: R & R MEANS REMOVE AND REPLACE!!!!!!! It is not an acronym (another word) for some business that this customer thinks we do business with. It is proper terminology in auto repair. Also, as we previously stated: THE MOTOR HAS BEEN CHANGED IN THEIR VEHICLE. We provide our customers with all proper receipts from our company for the work we complete and keep ALL RECEIPTS FROM SUPPLIERS for our tax purposes. As far as the "professional opinions" that this customer has sought, I didn't see in the customer's response were they took it to a reputable dealer. [redacted] is not this. They are right in their conclusion that they should have taken their vehicle to a dealer who starts at $90+ an hour labor rate and doesn't provide a payment plan. But the fact is you took it to a local shop where we don't have complaints or you wouldn't have brought your vehicle here. Also, the dealer would have done the same things we have done and charged you significantly more. What is unprofessional is this customer's lack of capability of writing a full grammatically correct sentence and their lack of understanding of commerce. We have no time for people who are out to get things for free. We were paid to order, and install an engine which we did and have paperwork verifying such work as well as camera footage of our mechanics doing the work on the vehicle and the parts for said vehicle being delivered. Anything else done to the vehicle (i.e. inspections, additional diagnosis, multiple tows, etc.) were done to help the customer resolve their problems and approved by the customer or we would have not done the work. We do not make our money doing work people don't ask us to do. As previously stated, we will not be refunding any money to this customer as we did the job asked of our company and that is where we are finished. This customer is asked as of now to not return to Auto Shack Repair Shop. The Revdex.com is nothing more than a gestapo regime used by delusional customers to attempt to extort businesses. If this customer feels this strongly about the work we have done, we urge the customer to do what normal people do and take up the matter in the courts as opposed to attempted slander on media outlets. Thank you and we hope to never hear from you or this customer again.
