Initial Business Response /* (1000, 8, 2015/08/24) */
I did not offer any help in this case because after 6 years how can any shop guarantee anything in Minnesota against rust.
No one knows how clean the truck was kept or anything about the maintenance of the truck for the past 6 years. Rust is...

one of the hazards of having an automobile in cold weather states such as Minnesota.
There is not a shop out there that would put a rusted box on that new of a truck, especially when the insurance company is on the hook to pay for it. This is a prime example of why insurance companies and shops look for LKQ (Like Kind Quality) parts. The five hours cleanup could have been stripe or molding removal or anything inside box, etc.
At no time were we even alerted if any problem existed until another shop had the truck in working on it.

Mr. [redacted] called and did ask about cost which was explained to him. From the start it was 39.95 not 34.99. He had stated at that time he had some work done in Las Vegas and still had a bounce. When the car came in we started to pull the tires off the first tire we did one lug nut broke and another...

came off hard. That is when I gave him a call and told him what was happening. He said to stop and he would come up and loosen them himself. We had moved the car outside by that time and it was sitting in front of our office area. When he arrived he did loosen the rest of the lug nuts with no further damage. How ever he was using a long breaker bar and jerking them to loosen them which indicated there where very tight. I did charge him .3 hours to replace one lug stud  and two lug nuts this includes removing the brake caliper and replacing the one stud. This would normally be at least .6 hours or more depending on the time spent to do the operation. We do use impacts to remove tires all the time with no issues had we continued on we probably would have had the same results he had with the breaker bar. It is not our goal to try and charge anybody unneeded labor but how is it our responsibility when we never touched this car before.  It is our policy to put tires back on with hand torque wrench.   The total bill on this job was 85.90 including parts.

This car arrived over the weekend. I can not tell you if the seam in the seat was loose when it came to us or not.  This vehicle is over 60 years old and has a lot of dry rot going on with all the rubbers and everything else. Mr. [redacted] is right it is the original interior and it has...

seen a lot of weather over its life.   The hole in question is in the center of the bottom seat cushion. Not an area that would have been damaged by something in a persons back pocket. Again the seam is what came apart. In regards to the car cover the customer came up and put it on the car. While waiting for the pump to arrive the car sat outside through a couple of rain and wind storms.  I think it was the Friday before the car was picked up the weather was supposed to be bad with hail forecast. Myself and one of my techs. took the cover off and put the car inside. I know we did not tear the cover.  I guess no good deed go's unrewarded.

I am rejecting this response because:My 1950 Cadillac had no tears, cuts, abrasions or rot in the seats prior to delivery to Auto Stop on May 22, 2016.  It is a very well cared for original Cadillac with only 41,000 miles on it.The original purchaser owned it 20 years before leaving it to his grandson who owned it for the next 45 years.  I am 73 years old.  I bought the Cadillac on 12/30/2014 with 39,900 miles.  I drove it 2,000 miles in 2015 and 200 miles in spring 2016 before leaving it with Auto Stop on May 22, 2016.When I picked the car up at Auto Stop June 23, 2016 it had the tears in the in the upholstery where the driver's butt would be.  They are sharp cuts in good fabric, not a worn area.  There are no worn areas. The cover is a premium custom cover guaranteed to withstand 90 MPH wind, rain, hail, snow, bird droppings & UV rays.  It was new January, 2015.  When I picked it up at Auto Stop on June 23, 2016 it had a 9" tear by the left front tie down strap.  My guess is it was yanked without releasing the front tie down.
