[redacted] did purchase a [redacted] with well over 100,000 miles. Shortly after having it he needed some repairs that were not covered by his limited warranty, AutoTraders had him come in and We fixed those problems for him at no cost to [redacted] also had a complaint of a water...

leak and We had his windshield removed and installed new seals, and had 2 different shops work on it to ensure his happiness.  We did not hear from him for over 1 year and recently he had contacted us that he had a leak. We advised him to go to a body shop and get an estimate and we will help him take care of this.  We are very surprised by this complaint and [redacted] never discussed trading this vehicle with us. As We have proven in the past we are more than willing to help [redacted] and accept responsibility for any cost.  We appreciate the Revdex.com being involved in this matter and We look forward to resolving this as soon as possible

This is our response to a complaint concerning a 2005 [redacted]bought “As Is” from our dealership almost 1 year ago, on March
2, 2015. (Please see attached purchase contract.)Just recently, on2/18/16, the customer called us (11 months after purchase),
and requested that we fix various...

problems on her vehicle.Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate the
extensive request for repairs the customer is asking for. We stand behind the
vehicles we sell, but cannot guarantee that our customers will never encounter
any issues on a used vehicle, almost 1 year after purchase.

I am rejecting this response because:In the conversation, the gentleman was unreasonable in listening to the facts surrounding the basis for the call.  All I wanted to do was bring to their attention that the car we purchased was not in a street working condition.  There had been modifications made to the electrical system which rendered the car inoperable while being driven.  The car stopped running on SEVERAL occasions while my son was driving it, causing [redacted] service to respond.  During one of these service calls, it was brought to our attention about the modification which had been made.   When the car was taken to our local [redacted] dealership ([redacted] in Exton, PA) the service technician explained that the modification on the positive wiring harness was for racing, and when the engine got hot, it caused a breaker in the line to trip, shutting off the car engine.  The wiring harness was replaced at my expense!  I was hoping that by contacting  the gentleman where the car had been purchased that I could explain this and question why his mechanic, or whomever goes over the cars prior to being sold, did not catch the modification.  I also had hopes that by explaining what took place, and the hazard it created, that the gentleman might offer to reimburse the expense  it took for me to have the wiring harness problem corrected.  Additionally, just after leaving the car lot, on the way home with the car, it was found that the center console transmission selector was broken.  The selector indicator remained in the reverse position and did not move to the correct position when changing the automatic transmission position selection.  This problem has not yet been corrected.  The gentleman would not listen to what I had to say and only referred me to the State Police.  The State Police only enforce the regulations concerning Inspection Stations.  If the gentleman would like me to have them notified, I will be happy to do so, so they can come in and audit their procedures and records.  I was hoping to get this resolved before any further action, such as this, would be necessary.

We received 1 phone call from this customer and were unable to understand or respond to whatever issue they had. [redacted] was verbally abusive and refused to let us speak, she yelled and cursed and accused us of many different things. The only thing we were able  to say is if her...

accusations were true she should contact the PA State Police since she had absolutely no desire to let us speak. We were never given the opportunity to talk to a mechanic or check the car. [redacted] was very unreasonable and out of control on the phone. We only received 1 phone call and were unable to even understand what her issue was. We ask the Revdex.com to intervene and We hope [redacted] can be civil as we try to get to the bottom of what actually happened and what can be done to resolve this issue.

[redacted] has never provided us any bills or any proof in any way that there is any problem at all. Her accusations are totally untrue and We were never contacted by her, her husband, the [redacted] dealership or anyone at all at anytime, The 1 phone call we received was from Gary ** M[redacted] who was reasonable but his wife [redacted] yelled and cursed in the background the entire time making it very hard to hear. [redacted] then took the phone and proceeded to yell, curse at and insult our employee, she also made false accusations that we had broken the law. Since she was unwilling to discuss or work with us in helping her we told her she should contact the Pennsylvania State Police. The only contact we ever had with [redacted] was this 1 single phone call and we were very shocked by her behavior. If she encountered so many problems and so many issues why were we never contacted? If her intention is to work with us we would need her to act civilly and provide proof of what she has done concerning the vehicle. Our employees must be treated as human beings and no one deserves to be treated the way Mrs. Barbara Moore treated them. We would like to ask [redacted] to please be honest and  do not yell and curse as this type of behavior makes it impossible to work with her. We Greatly appreciate our customers and We do everything possible to help them in any way at any time and we will continue to do so.

Review: Over Easter break, my stepfather decided that the car my daughter and I were using was not safe and it was time to look at new ones. We drove around for a little bit and found AutoTraders International, Ltd. We started looking at cars and then were contacted by a salesman. My stepfather told him that he was looking for a safer car for my six year old child and myself to drive back and forth from Virginia to Pennsylvania. The salesman showed up three or four cars after, we drove two up the road and back and ultimately decided to buy the 2001 Volkswagen Passat because my stepdad knew the safety rating on Volkswagen cars. The next day, he and I went back to the dealership with my car, traded it in and he paid in cash. Two days later, I drove this "new" car back to my home in Virginia, three and a half hours away with my six year old daughter in the car. On May 3rd, 27 days after I drove the Passat off the AutoTrader lot, my car caught on fire in the passenger wheel well while my daughter and I were in it. Luckily we were close to home. I called a tow truck and had it towed to my local mechanic. As it turned out, the calipers froze on that side which, from my mechanic ([redacted], [redacted]) was the result of AutoTraders changing the brake tubing(the tubing was brand new when the mechanic checked it) and flushing the gunk back into the brakes. My car had to have $1400 worth of repairs and I had only had it for 27 days. When my stepfather called AutoTraders, the manager he talked to was very rude and unwilling to work with him. He only wanted them to pay half of the $1400 bill but the manager said that because I drove it, they wouldn't help.

I am a 35 year old woman and know nothing about cars. I know that if it starts smoking or lights turn on, something is wrong. I drove it because I trusted the dealership when the told me that it was ok. I had no idea what any of it meant until I took the car to the mechanic, who was pretty sure the dealership knew the brakes were bad, told me all the problems with it and even then I had no idea what he was talking about. I have used this mechanic for all 11 years that I have lived in Virginia so I trust them because they have never done anything to break my trust. Because my car is German, my mechanic had to get special tools and computer programs to try to fix it. They went out of their way to get my car back to me.

I am so disappointed in this dealership and hope that it can be made known their sales practices but I think the part that is most upsetting to me is that we told them specifically that we were looking for a safer car for my daughter and I to travel back and forth in and they knowingly sold us a car that had the potential to kill both my 6 year old and myself because the brakes would stop working. It has caused me to lose faith in basic human nature that they could knowingly sell something so entirely unsafe to a single mother and her daughter.Desired Settlement: For the sake of my stepfather, I would like this company to have to issue a formal apology, acknowledge what they've done and refund my stepfather for the amount of the repairs.
