Auto World, Inc Reviews (4)

Review: I brought my car(2003 saab 9-3) to a shop in kenosha(autoworld) to have an intoxalock installed into my car on october 22nd of 2013, after the install the car did not start and needed repairs done. The mechanics there took my whole center console apart( I was watching them do this and mind you the technician was ripping it all out like it was a car at a junk yard) to get to the ignition switch, which is what they thought stopped working. They replaced the switch and that didn't seem to fix the problem. So about 2-3 weeks later they finally sent it to another shop called Anostos, and they could not figure it out either. About another week or two later, they finally send it to the dealership to find out the problem. The dealership([redacted]) told them it was the steering wheel module and transmissoin module. They took about another few weeks just to authorize the repairs to my car. [redacted] did all the repairs and Autoworld paid the cost, on the 7th of January 2014, I got a call from autoworld saying my car is ready to be picked up. I get there at about 4 pm and I go to my car and the center console was still all apart and nothing is put back together, I go back into the shop and let them know and they said the dealership was suppose to do all that. So the salesman there called his boss and let him know about it, and his boss([redacted]) called saab to complain about it, so then he calls his salesman(steve) and tells him if I bring the car to the dealership right now that they would put it all back together. So I said ok, I get in my car and start it, after I put the car into gear I have to basically step all the way down on the gas pedal just so the car would move( My car was not this way before bringing it to their shop). So I turned around and went back to autoworld to tell him that, The salesman called his boss up again and told him about it, but just stated that if I took the car to the dealership RIGHT now that they would fix everything. So I said ok, I get to the dealership around 520 pm and talk to the service provider and he tells me that the owner of autoworld did not want to pay the extra money to put the center console and everything back together. But then states they will anyways since its not my fault and that I would have to bring it back tomorrow. So I took it home and parked it, the next morning I get up to take it back and my car would not start. So I then called autoworld and let them know what was going on, I spoke to [redacted] and he said just call saab and tow it to them because it has to be the dealerships fault. So I did that and the dealership told me its not because of them, its my shifter gears and the car is not recognizing its in park, and because autoworld tore everything apart autoworld damaged it beyond repair and that it would cost around 1200 dollars for those repairs. I called up [redacted] at autoworld and informed him of what was going on with my car. He tells me he is not going to pay for anything else and that its not his problem, and that my car was just a rolling piece of junk to begin with. That he is done. So now I am stuck without a car, without a reliable way to work. There is a lot more than just those repairs also. The bill could be way higher.Desired Settlement: I am willing to take blue book for my car , and not the fair condition price either. it was in good running condition before I handed it over to autoworld.

Response:

We offered Mr. [redacted] a $2500. trade allowance .He found a car that he liked but did not have the remainder of the money to complete the deal, when he did have the money the car had been sold. We have since given Mr. [redacted] access to an auction webb site that we use, so he could find a car that might suit his needs,as soon as he finds a car whether its on our lot or at auction we can wrap this up.

Thanks

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

I went to go look at a red neon srt4 with one of my friends they had for sale posted up online and on Craigslist for 10 grand. I called first asking if it was still there and he said it was and that it needed a trans and to come make an offer.
I go take an hour an a half drive to this place I stand in the small lobby they have waiting for someone to come to the desk and about 10 min later he walked out asking what we wanted. I told him I was interested and looking at the srt and again told me about the trans and said its outback we are sending it in to get fixed. I asked to go take a look he said yes so my friend and I did. To start off it wasn't as advertised not even close. It had cracks and paint chipping on the body.
Needed a new front bumper, had a homemade welded exhaust with a broken flex pipe so it needed a new down pipe and full exhaust basically.
The trans was bad.
Oil catch can was home made junk
Oil feed line was zip tied on
It was sitting on flat tires
The lug nuts had looked like someone tried taking them off with a screw driver
The battery was dead and corroded
Radiator was loose
Duck taped interior
Had a manual boost controller that was taped
I'm sure there's more just forgetting because there was so much wrong with this car he didn't tell me
We went back in after seeing all that and I figured I'd make him an offer after hearing it run and drive. I asked for the keys and go out to start it and it's completely dead. The guy didn't offer to jump it or anything either.
Looking at the car as it sits it needs about 3 to 4 grand in work being realistic about it. Yes it is an srt4 neon but it is still a neon and wouldn't even start and isn't drive able that looks like it was beat and tore up.
Knowing that I told him I'd make him a low offer with all the stuff it needs and he told me to tell him so I offered 2000 for it which I guess offended him for some reason and he started swearing at us and threw a big fit about it so we left. The experience at the store was horrible he was making rude racial comments and swearing at his customers. Definitely not a business I would ever recommend to anyone. The whole swearing at my friend and I making a big scene was rude and disrespectful especially from a business standpoint when your trying to sell cars.

Review: When I purchased the vehicle it was not disclosed that the vehicle did not have a converter. The paper was never given to me. they produced a copy a few days of calling after this and it was written in. I t was not on the paper on the vehicle when the vehicle was purchased. I made several phone calls to a daniel stepler and he avoided me for a week and then said he did give me the copy and gave me a copy of what he had. he said it was my responsibility to put on the converter and pay for it. He was to call me back and give me a discount again no hear back. I purchased this vehicle in june 27 2013. I just around the time to get the paper work together to report this. Also there was no gas in vehicle. vehicle leaks gas if filled to full which was not disclosed. key lock had no battery. mileage stated on the the paper I signed was different than on the sticker price. poor customer service this vehicle was paid in full which I received a loan.Desired Settlement: I feel that the price paid for this vehicle was to much for all the defects that where not stated. especially the vehicle not having a cadialac converter. I mean no call back from owner avoidance of my calls.

To whom it may concern;

This truck had a thourough safety inspection if you look at the repair order you will see the items we saw necessary were repaired prior to sale,if I wanted to shortcut the process we would not have done these repairs. When a customer takes delivery there is a copy of the buyers guide attached to the vehicle and one for us kept in the deal it's unfortunate but most people just throw out their copy. I also have customers sign a " WE OWE " which spells out the promises made between dealer and customer as you can see in the attachment that the customer signed we owed them nothing. This is quite obviously just an attempt to renegotiate the purchase price of the vehicle, and just to set the record straight this customer never called me for any reason.

I responded to this complaint previously .Now she changes her story, you ask that we respond without emotion sometimes thats not possible.

This woman says the paper work was rushed,I disagree if it was rushed it was because her boyfriend at the time was pushing her, the truck was for him. When they split up she called and asked if would buy the truck back that she didn't need it. The mileage on the truck is consistent with the documents that I got when I bought the truck and when I sold it and reported it to motor vehicles. She acknowledged the catalytic converter problem at time of purchase and signed documents to support that. We do business the right way that is why we have been in business as long as we have, please don't drag me into this womens hard luck life as I am not a counselor.

Thank You

This gentleman first said he made no contact with me. in fact we played phone tag several times. This has nothing to do with my finase whats so ever. Why he would bring a personal thing into this is beyond me. I in fact did purchase the truck for myself which was not his buisness and I feel very poor business communication. I never ever went back and said that my finase and I broke up and wanted to sell the truck back. As the Lord is my witness I did not do this. All I wanted was a few things taken care of for the truck which were not. I feel that the way I was treated was unfair and I was taken advantage of. All he had to do was take care of the cadillac converter and the gas leak. Not to mention that the driver side door was broken but I was aware of this. As I was looking on line I see they have another lot in Illinois that that they swap there vehicles back and forth. Not to good of customer service there either. I work hard for my money as well does any other person and I just wanted to be dealt with respect and fairness. Which I believe he did not do. All the other employees are very nice and helpful. Although why he would do this to me I do not know and then make a false statement on me that I never did or say.

I worked with two different sales people at this dealership. Both of them gave me one rate for a vehicle to purchase. Every time I called back they had to re-run my credit score for some reason and it kept dropping my score. Then when we finally agreed on something, and I was called to confirm and pick up the vehicle, the sales person demanded 1,000 more dollars down, and when I refused he hung up on me and told me he didn't want to work with me.
