Car improperly diagnosed with inflated charges for something not needed.My son's, a college student in Raleigh, broke down and was towed to Automan. Since the car was not running it was impossible to get another quote. I (his mom) live in [redacted] and was not able to physically go to Automan. I received a call telling me the timing belt had broke and bent the valves. My options were new engine, used engine, fix valves $1500-$1900 or they would buy the car for $100. After talking with my local mechanic he told me there was no way an the valves could be damaged in that type of engine. I brought the car to him, he told me the timing belt was fine. The valves had not even been looked at, and it need a new fuel pump and distributor costing me $360. I am seeking a refund for the diagonostic services from Automan. They offered 3 free oil changes which would take us a year to use since my son drives very little, and I am very uncomfortable bring my car to a mechanic who tried to overcharge me for something I did not use.Desired SettlementRefund onlyBusiness Response the car was towed in and automan looked at it. we are willing to return the money for the diagnose's . the 77.14 will be credited back to her account .Consumer Response This has been resolved.
