We have worked with [redacted] and [redacted] for almost 14 years and have provided them with quality honest service. We have always been accommodating with over 50 invoices for services being paid without any questions or concerns. Last fall [redacted]...

stated that had susspended service for their phone line to their townhouse in Minnesota, while they vacationed in Arizona, he asked me if the security system would function normally without a land phone line and I told him he would have to consider cellular backup if he did not have working phone lines. He said they had been gone for a while already and requested a refund for services at that time. I told him his service contract was a monthly charge prepaid quarterly program with a required written notice of cancel of 30 days. He agreed to continue services saying we would revisit the cellular options in the spring. When he returned this spring he contacted me and I got him out a quote for adding the cellular back-up we had discussed. He declined the cellular service upgrade, informed me he had found better monitoring options, and demanded a refund of the services he had paid for a month and a half. I reminded him that his panel would require deprogramming since it had specific account information programmed into it. The service call for deprogramming a panel was $80. If not deprogrammed, the monitoring account would have to deemed unusable for future customers and that fee was $200. Listed as a forced account closure by the monitoring station. His response was to demand his refund and threaten to slander my company anyway he could. I don't care for bullying and although realizing he probably will not pay the $200. Feel that hedid not give a proper written notice. 30 days from when he requested his termination puts him in the middle of the month he had paid for so he did not qualify for the refund. If his not receiving the $37 which he is not legally entitled leads to your printing this slander after over 14 years of honest service, then your system is not working. When Mr. [redacted] told me he would require an $80 service call to deprogram our monitoring system or, alternatively, that a $200 fee would be charged, he failed to ask whether we had removed the monitoring control panel he had installed. Later, he backed off demanding one of those fees when I told him we had removed his control panel. The $37 refund we requested is for the half of the three month period we had prepaid following the date we terminated his monitoring service. I do not agree that a 30 day advance notice should be required to qualify for this service refund. Finally, I object to Mr. [redacted]'s use of the word slander in describing this complaint. My intent simply has been to report conduct that I consider unprofessional.

The contract signed by Mr [redacted] clearly spells out in line item 10 that their is no refund given to payments already received and that a 30 day advanced written notice must be given to cancel the service. Mr [redacted] terminated the services and after the thirty days notice only a half of one month would remain and there is also no provision for partial month credit. Automated Lifestyles resells the monitoring service and does not make the rules Mr [redacted] agreed to. Mr [redacted] was made fully aware that there would be a need for service at the time the service is terminated to deprogram sensitive account information.
