When we went to install a remote start on this vehicle the check engine light was already on. This is a common issue with the Nissan...

Sentra 2013. I explained this to the customer and he is trying to hold us liable for this. I even offered a refund of the remote start, which he refused and wants me to pay for the repair costs of the vehicle which was existing prior to us even working on his car. I offered to have one of my contacts at Nissan take a look and see if the could repair it under warranty and the customer refused to allow us to do that. He claimed I was trying to commit fraud which isn't true at all. I was simply trying to help him out and the vehicle is actually still under warranty. The car only has 16,000 miles on it. He has been making false accusations against me and my company. We have over 22 years of experience and primarily work on only new car dealers. I have great references from these dealers if you would require more information. Thank You for your time and consideration, Please feel free to contact me with if you require any more information on this matter. Thank You [redacted]

Review: On 2/**/15 I brought my **13 Nissan Sentra to the company Automotive Enthusiasts Inc. Upon arriving at or around 9:15am the [redacted] and his son "[redacted]" pulled my car into their garage and proceeded to install a remote start on my vehicle. After the installation was complete and when the [redacted] of the company was showing me how to use the remote start by engaging the remote start my check engine light came on. He checked the code for the check engine light and reset the system so the check engine light would go off. He told me to call him if it came back on so I paid him via bank [redacted] debit card in the amount of $270.94. After leaving and driving about ten minutes I stopped at a store, I was in the store for about 15 minutes and when I started the vehicle the check engine light came back on so I called [redacted] and he asked me to bring the car back to the shop. So I brought the vehicle back to his shop and he reset the check engine light again and it came back on later in the day. So I called him and he said that he needed to turn down the crank time on the remote start because that it was "tech support" told him could be triggering the check engine light to come on. On 2/**/15 I drove to his shop again so he could try and fix the problem. He turned down the crank time and reset the system and the check engine light went off. On 2/**/15 the check engine light came on in the morning starting the car with the remote start. I called the business [redacted]" and he stated that I had to bring the car to Nissan. I brought the car to Nissan on 2/**/2015 and they found they found Code [redacted] Step Motor Relay causing the check engine light to be on. Nissan stated that they needed the remote start removed in order to further diagnose. After [redacted] removed the remote start Nissan found Codes [redacted] and [redacted] and found that the IPDM needs replacing. The cost is $950.00 plus tax and [redacted] flat out refuses to pay it. He is trying to get my vehicle warranty to cover the damages that he caused which Nissan won't.Desired Settlement: I want my car fixed, the cost is $950.00 plus tax. I also want a full refund for the remote start in the amount of $270.94. In addition I also want $500.00 in punitive damages for the stress and mental anguish this has caused me dealing with this dilemma.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

He is completely being dishonest by saying that my check engine light was already on before. It came on only after he installed the remote starter in my vehicle and he told me from the beginning not to worry that he had me covered but when it came time to pay for my vehicle to get repaired from the damaged he caused he backed off and wouldn't pay and denied responsibility. The warranty on the vehicle was null and void as soon as he tapped into the wiring harness under the steering wheel. He was trying to get Nissan to cover the damages so he didn't have to pay and Nissan wouldn't. He was actually working/talking with [redacted] Nissan when this happened in his place of business on the phone about the check engine light and further communicating with them about the issue and even told them to order the part and then said not to. Then he told me he had another connection at another Nissan dealership and I declined this because it was dishonest and seemed very shady. I told him he owed me around the sum of $1300 for repairs to my car including a refund for the remote start in the amount of $270.94 at which he said he would refund me the $270.94 to resolve the issue and I said no it's not going to resolve the issue and that I'm still going to be holding him [redacted] the [redacted] of Automotive Enthusiasts Inc. accountable for the damages he caused to my vehicle. The [redacted] from [redacted] Nissan will be happy to talk with anybody further about his dealings with [redacted] over the phone. If the check engine light was already on why was he talking with Nissan and trying to get my vehicle fixed in the first place? Doesn't make sense right? I have text messages of him saying that "he is trying to make it right". What is he trying to make right if the check engine light was already on before and why was he dealing with Nissan? He is a bold faced liar and lied in his response to this claim. I had to lay out $1,026.18 of my own money to fix the damages he caused to my vehicle and not only that I am also out $270.94 for the remote starter he installed and then uninstalled. So thats a total of $1,297.12. I'll see this guy in court.
