THIS IS ONE OF THE FEW PLACES WHERE YOU CAN STILL FIND THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS. EXCEPTIONAL WORK AND EXCEPTIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE. I DEFINETLY GET MORE THAN MY MONEYS WORTH. MY HUSBAND AND I HAVE BEEN A CUSTOMER SINCE THE EARLY 2000'S AND WILL CONTINUE TO BE AS LONG AS THIS BUSINESS IS AROUND. I RECOMMEND IT TO AS MANY PEOPLE AS I CAN. FRIENDLY, QUICK, CLEAN AND HONEST PLACE. ","pos-2

Myself and my co-worker have taken our work and home vehicles, and my RV there over the last 12 years. Ken and his team are very knowledge, fair and honest. They go the extra effort to make sure you get your auto repaired at a fair price in a quick as possible turn around time.","pos-1

Complaint[redacted] of Automotive Service Center told me that there would not be any charge for services, and once she towed the car charged me for tow and work.I have been a customer of Automotive Service Center for 5-6 years. Every single time that my car was towed to their establishment, I've used[redacted]. I have never had an issue like this in the 5-6 years I have used them. In fact, I have recommended others use the company in the past. I found the company from a referral from a junk yard. He gave me two names of local companies that he thought did good repair jobs on[redacted]. I've used both companies and both have performed excellently. This is the only time that I've had a really bad issue. This particular incident started two or three months ago, maybe a month longer. My shift cable had disconnected and it rendered the car un-driveable. I have had issues with my car since the initial attempt to repair the car. It would work for awhile--maybe a couple of weeks or a month--before you saw the signs that it was trouble brewing and it subsequently dislodge. Once it dislodges you must not turn the car off because once it is turned off it will not restart. The reason for this is that it stops in the drive gear--or other than park gear--and of course the car will not restart. The first time that it happened, after the repair, I dropped my mother off at her house and drove directly to the garage. Although it was late in the day, in fact they should have been closed, I went by in hopes that the mechanic that worked on my car was still working. I believe his name was [redacted] and he worked on my car only one other time previously......So the cable dislodged from the steering column after the first attempt at repair. [redacted] was still at the garage and reconnected it to the steering column. I drove the car home, which is about three miles away only to have the cable dislodge once again. Of course, I had no choice but to turn the car off or leave it running all night in my driveway. I chose the former and called them immediately the next morning. They advised me to get the car towed to the garage once again. After the tow, and after diagnosis, they called me and stated that the steering column was damaged beyond repair and that they were looking for a steering column for the vehicle. Damaged beyond repair in this case meant that the cable would not stay connected to the steering column. I asked [redacted] how much did she think that the part would cost. She stated probably around $250. I told her to stop looking. Now, my first question, that I did not ask them, was if the steering column was damaged then why didn't they know that when they first recommended to replace the cable? I'll be honest that I didn't ask the question as I trusted them. They stated that they would put the cable back on the car for the last time unless I purchased a new steering column. The cost of the part, plus labor, didn't seem to justify my continued ownership. Therefore, I drove the car until the next dislodgement. My car was parked in my driveway for at least two months after the last dislodgement, possibly three, when I saw an advertisement about a local company that rebuilt steering columns. I called them and told them about my issue. He informed me that he has rebuilt steering columns for thirty years and it is very unlikely that this was caused by the steering column since he had never seen such a thing and furthermore the steering column, on my car, is made of steel.I called [redacted], told her what the mechanic told me, and she offered to look at the car again and put the cable back on the steering column. I even offered to give her the name of the company and the individual that I spoke to. She declined and stated that, "She believed me." My thinking at the time was that it was probably their fault.....Therefore, I asked her in no uncertain terms would there be any charge for this? She said, "no," and told me that she would send a tow truck to my home....If I had any reason to believe that there would be a charge, of any kind, why would I use her towing service rather than[redacted] services?Desired SettlementI'm looking for a refund for the cost of the tow and the work. I am not looking for repairing of the door. Lesson learned. Frankly, I never even checked their Revdex.com rating before last week. Therefore, I think that is an indication of how much I trusted them with my car and our business relationship. It is a shame that a person that I had respect for as one I thought stood by her word would take this route but I guess things change...in this case, for the worse.Business Response Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)As stated in my original letter. I have been a customer of Automotive Service Center for at least 5 years. In that time, I have never had her to tow my car with her service. Every single time that my car had to be towed, it was towed through my[redacted] account. The only reason why it was towed this time was by her actions, not my request. I guess I should have known that the shyster move was being made at that point. Not only do you make money off of the work but you get a piece of the tow as well.I have spoken to another mechanic who states that the mechanic should have been able to see that the steering column was damaged beyond repair, before the original purchase of the shift cable. That is, if indeed that is the cause of the shift cable coming off of the steering column.I was right to call the police for a woman that obviously is irrational or a shyster or both. I asked her in absolute clear terms whether there would be ANY charges for the work. She stated that there would not be any charges. Why would I have her tow service to charge me for a tow that I could have received for free? There would not be any reason other than her assurance that there would not be any charge whatsoever. It is unfortunate that a person that I have respect for as a businesswomen would end our business relationship on this note. I should have known when she couldn't keep mechanics at her shop that this was a [redacted]. I should have stop going to her business when her son left to start his own garage in[redacted]. I never had one problem with my car after he repaired it, and I've been there plenty times before.I will never do business with a company that does not accept MC/Visa and will be very careful if they are not a member of the Revdex.com.This response is unsatisfactory because it ends up being nothing more than a bait and switch. If [redacted] and the Revdex.com can explain why I would pay for a tow while a member of the[redacted] to her services I would be more than happy to drop the complaint. That is, if she can explain it without lying.Really, I wanted to pay you $60 just because...really? Well, $60 may not be a whole lot to the people at Automotive Service Center but it was too much for me to pay if you told me that it would cost me nothing beforehand.Unbelievable what type of world and people that are in it. Devoid of honor and trust even for their loyal customers whom have ALWAYS paid them for services rendered. She never had an issue with me before this situation.
