Autotech Collision Reviews (3)

Let me just say this. A trip to a body shop is something that people usually NEVER want to do :( However I was lucky to come across the people at Autotech Collision.

After being involved in my first ever accident the guys at Autotech picked up my car and pretty much took it from there. Once I informed my insurance company where the vehicle was they dealt with all of the red tape and it felt like I was back in my vehicle with minimal inconvenience to my daily life (which is what had me most nervous of all). My car was done in a timely manner and the vehicle looked like nothing ever happened!

Unless [redacted] or some auto insurance agency have referred you here, I wouldn't take my car here. Let me explain. I had minor rust work done to the car above the windshield by the sunroof. It took them two weeks and it wasn't until I called in to inquire about why it was taking so long to finish. By the time I got the car back, I found a noticeable gash on the passenger side of my dash. I confronted the manager about this and he of course denied telling me it was an old gash. He went back to the computer to look at the pictures they took of the car to see if that was there before they started work on the car and that portion of the dashboard was out of frame. I persisted to convince him that the gash wasn't there before and asked for the original camera to retake that snapshot so I can compare the old and new picture of the dashboard and he refused.

Kam (not the manager) was able to reach an agreement and called out a specialist fix the dashboard. The repair is still somewhat noticeable. It wasn't long until I've also noticed that the blower fan to the AC has become louder when turned on as in a fan becoming unbalanced rotating at a high speed - only fan, no AC was used. This is aggravating. Furthermore, I proceeded to look for signs of anything in the car that was tampered with starting with the passenger side area and noticed that the bolts to both the front seats have been removed and put back in. There were scratches around the bolts to show this. The screws to the glove compartment box have also been over- tightened. I wonder what they were doing in that area and why the compartment was removed.

The car also felt as if it's been abused. At idle, there's now a harmonic vibration that's more noticeable, felt with hand resting on steering wheel, and shifter, that wasn't there before. After driving while the engine is at operating temperature, the engine now exhibits a slight knocking sound. Also worth mentioning is that when I brought my car back to them to fix my dashboard, the guy who took my car in, drove the car in reverse, into the garage, and scratched my rear bumper at the left side- I only noticed after driving the car back home. I'd take my car to the dealer every time for even the smallest issue, but this time I regret to have even chanced my car with Autotech Collission.

I'm now looking into how to diagnose the blower fan, engine vibration and the knocking sound on my own, not to mention looking for another body shop to repaint my rear bumper. [redacted] must've been doing more to my car than what I had wished for. I've never left my car with anyone for more than two weeks since I've owned the car and I really regret it this time. It's NYC and anything can happen behind your back. I have proof and pictures of all of the claims above if you want to know more. I've also posted pictures so you can see for yourself. Do yourself a favor and look around for a family owned business and don't use them. Good luck.

==================

In light of the above review posted to yelp on the business. I called the shop to ask for the name of the particular individual who was responsible for handling my car so I can address him directly and ask what really happened, I was given the owner to speak to, which I couldn't verify if it was him, which was fine, but this person said he couldn't give me any information about who handled my car because "there were many departments the car had to go through to getting it fixed", which wasn't very convincing. I would have even revised my review on yelp depending on the nature of the conversation with this man on the phone, but he began calling me names once I asked him what more can he do to fix the issue that required even more money to repair the car at the Nissan dealership. At this point, he was buying himself time fumbling around in not giving me the name of the worker who was responsible for the damages made to my car in telling me he wanted to help me. I said to him I wasn't interested and said to him, "I've already told you, and you've read my review on yelp these are the damages that I will be paying out of my own pocket, that's why I am not interested in answering your questions unless you're going to pay for my damages".

That is when he flipped on my and began calling me a "smart [redacted]", "smart mouth" and began threatening me with lawsuits etc. I was so disgusted at this point I just hung up. So these were the jackals I had to deal with covering for each other even my phone call to them was a chance for me to further understand why all this happened, but nothing.

Review: The first complaint I have against Auto tech collision is in regards to customer service. [redacted] failed to communicate with me concerning my vehicle. I reached out to her many times with no response. My second complaint is that my vehicle was in the shop for over 30 days and [redacted] and employee [redacted] failed to give me details about the repairs. Third I have asked for an estimate on 2 or 3 occassions and [redacted] refused to produce any documents about the repairs and the estiamtes of the repairs. I was told I will only receive the final bill when they are done. My vehicle was suppose to be ready 3 weeks ago. I called the shop and the number I was given was no longer in service. I went to the shop and [redacted] was very rude and [redacted] never came to the shop and she did not reach out to me concerning the matter at hand. This is poor customer service. I just want my vehicle out of the shop its been over 30 days.Desired Settlement: I would like to receive an estimate for the repairs not only the estimate from the insurance company on what they are willing to pay. I want [redacted] to answer my phones and or contact me. And I want my car out of the shop its been over 30 days. I do not want to be overcharged for repairs because I never received an estimate in the beginning when I requested a copy.
