Review: Members of our family have purchased a number of vehicles from Autowise over the past decade and were happy with our experience. However with our recent purchase we are very disappointed with the new management's attempts to cover up its defects and refuse to repair them despite the warranty. Their posted inspection form said the transmission, tires, air conditioning, and windows were in clean condition, but they were not. The first problem we discovered was the transmission. When [redacted], the salesperson, drove it across the lot immediately after our purchase, it took him a long time. He handed us the keys nervously and asked, "You know how to shift gears, right? You just have to hold it down and shift..." We thought it was a strange thing to say, but soon after we got it home, we found that we could not shift gears for up to fifteen minutes sometimes. My calls were not returned, so I called back and left messages several times. We took it to the shop for repairs twice - the first repair didn't work, the second one did. The second problem we discovered was the bare tread on the tires that [redacted], the auto technician, informed us was technically passing so they would not cover the replacement. The third problem was that the moon roof did not actually open or close and soon two of the windows wouldn't either. The fourth and most expensive problem is the air conditioner. As soon as we had a hot day, about three months after purchase, we discovered there was no cold air. My calls were not returned, so I called back several times. We took it in for repairs and [redacted] told us "it was too cold to check the air conditioner in the when we bought it." He told us he would only temporarily patch it up but not fix it. It is a $750 repair to repair the leaks and replace the freon. We have a baby and it is unsafe for her to be in the car for long drives now. She cries and sweats in her chair. We paid more than a fair price for this car based on our trust that it would indeed be in clean condition and are filing this complaint because it was not and because they have left us to pay for these costly repairs.Desired Settlement: We would like a refund of $750 so we can have the air conditioner repaired by a more reputable shop.

Response:

We do appreciate the patronage of all of our clients and would hope that the ownership experience is a good one. Unfortunately, we do have situations that we are unable to remedy. Ms. [redacted]s' case is one such case. At this time we are unable to cover any other cost associated with the ownership of the vehicle.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have decided not to pursue this any further. After reading their response I am fairly certain Autowise does not intend to remedy their dishonesty. We would just like to warn others to get a second inspection before buying.

Review: On September 16, 2013 I traded in my 2003 Monte Carlo and purchased a $20,000 Tahoe from Autowise LLC on 76th and Bradley road on. Well it's now December 18, 2013 and I don't have the title, an explanation on why I don't have the title and the vehicle is still registered to someone else. As of today the Tahoe isn't registered in my name, it's not even registered in Wisconsin. I've been in contact with the salesperson, [redacted], and he gives me a different story every time. On November 26th the Monte Carlo was tolled and I found out the car was still in my name. I don't know what else to do and now the dealership won't answer my calls unless I call from a different number. Please help!Desired Settlement: I just want my vehicle title.

Response:

Good afternoon.

I did speak to Ms. [redacted] yesterday. I have explained to her before that we hadn't received the title in a timely manner and was unable to process efficiently. She stated that the plate she transferred was due to come up for renewal. I let her know that my title clerk would take care of it for her and renew the plate in the process. Upon returning from the auction today I had our clerk complete that transaction. To do so she did have to request the previous transaction which did not renew the plate had be reversed and the renewal transaction completed. Her title number is [redacted]. I also informed her she should see her title at any moment. She can pick up her new sticker anytime.

The owner [redacted] took my radio out to be fix it after I purchased the vehicle 9/10/2013. I get a call from him 9/5/2013 saying that Westlake finance did not give him all his money and he is holding my radio until he gets a payment. I told him that is between him and Westlake. I made my car payment before the due date so take that up with them. I also called the finance company on 9/5/2013 and they told me they paid Autowise over 7000 and I put down 1500, the vehicle was sold at 7,990. [redacted] took my radio out about 3 weeks ago because the radio controls everything. [redacted] basically told me and my fiance that he is not putting the radio in until we give him the payments for Westlake. I can make my payments to Westlake and that is no way for a business owner to act. [redacted] didn't care if Westlake was paid or not. He did not check with Westlake to even see I had made a payment until 10/11/2013. You cannot tell someone that your not giving them back their property, even if I was late paying the finance company it has nothing to do with him. [redacted] took my property and I had to tell him I will sue him, his remarks were: I love you too. Very unprofessional
