I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me

We stand by our original statement on this matterEven if [redacted] did not see the problem, someone in his party did However to bring this matter to a close we will refund ***'s deposit in full Just a couple of added notes: Deposits are almost always required on larger cabins and lodgesThey are either charged up front as we do or your charge card is held in lieu of deposit to cover damages Our cleaner is very reliable and trustworthy and takes pride in her job

Sunday our cleaner arrived at Barton at 10:, *** arrived around 11:she showed him what she found in front king bedroom upon her arrivalSheets, towels, mattress pad and the zippered memory foam topper had been removed from bed and rolled in
ball on floorthere was a strong odor(possibly urine)The memory foam topper was flipped over on the bed with blankets on topTopper and blankets also wet
When they went to clean downstairs living room they found throw pillows on leather couch covering a very wet spotThey tried drying it out with vacuum and cloths, but it was still wet when new guests checked in at 4:pm
When *** got home from cleaning and checking all cabins that evening he called ***
*** explained to *** he was giving him a courtesy call to tell him why there was going to be a delay in returning his deposit.(to see if items had to be professionally cleaned or replaced) *** said he did not know about any of these things.
Upon checkout, Our guests are told both by us and in our Welcome Book in cabin to call us as they are leaving and that they may have to leave a messageWe do not do a walk through with our guests as they are leaving(as far as I know no one including hotels does this
*** also informed *** of the unusual amount of foam in hot tub and that it could affect his refund since he was the one that reserved and therefore the responsible person for his party
At this point *** got angry and said he would never stay with us again*** said I am not going to argue with you and that he was just giving him a courtesy call
We have been in business years and have only kept a full deposit one other time and a partial deposit twice
We take pride in our cabins and rely a great deal on referrawould only do us harm to hold or deny a refund for any reason without cause

I am rejecting this response because:
I had 5 other people that stayed in the cabin and we did a walk through as we were leaving to make sure everything was picked up and cleaned up and took out the trash as we were asked to do.  The hot tub scenario was normal usage, anyone that has a hot tub knows that there is a de-foamer chemical to clear it up.  We did not put anything in the hot tub unusual like soaps or lotions or bubbles.  This is what Mike and Judy are stating after we were long gone from the unit.  The couch there were witnesses to the fact there was nothing spilled or set on the couch.  How do we know that after we left the cleaning person didn't set something on the couch and then try to blame us for it.  Same for the bedroom, I double checked with the people that were in that room to make sure that nothing was spilled on the bed or urinated and they assured NOT as we double checked everything.  If the bed was wet, again how do we know that the cleaning person decided to make this up to keep our deposit because we did forget to leave the cleaning person a tip.  So the cleaning person may have been upset with us and decided to maliciously do some things to the cabin upon arrival.  I understand what they are saying about not doing a walk through when guests arrive and depart, but if you are going to withhold some ones money then you should do it.  If they would have pointed these things out upon our departure with us there then all of us would have been there and seen that oh yea this really is damaged.  Since this is not the case I feel like this whole thing is their word against ours, and they are finding reasons to keep partial or all the deposit money.  They can claim that they try not to withhold deposits and have rarely done it, however, it is their word against ours since the place was not inspected with us still there.  Even if they would provide evidence such as pictures, how do we know that the cleaning person himself didn't do certain things upset due to no tip.  I stayed at old mans cave chalets with my mother back in the fall and they did not even require a deposit, nor was anything found wrong.  We feel that since we were a younger group in our 30's that we were accused of "tearing the place apart"  this was not the case.  Overall I just want to see my deposit refunded in full and I will never be renting from Autumn Ridge Cabins again.  There are several other outfits that will accept our business and not do this to us.
