I have been living at Privacy World for 15+ years. The apartments are old, but well-maintained, and in some respects the age of the apartments is a plus - they are larger and have more storage than is typically the case with similarly priced and located apartments I have seen.
The location of the apartments is ideally suited for someone like myself who makes frequent use of public transportation - it is literally across the street from the Glenmont Metro Station. Shopping, Fire and Rescue, and Police are all less than a mile away.
Amenities are somewhat limited here, which is reflected in the price. A newly-built kids playground sees frequent use, as does a picnic area with grills. Laundry facilities are in the basement of each building, and the front doors of each building are protected by a keypad entry system. All apartments are cable ready, and some or all utilities are included in the rent. You won't find fitness rooms, a game room, clubhouse, or other such high-end amenities here.
The maintenance staff are friendly and responsive. They respond quickly when a problem is reported, and fix the issue right away. I have found the office staff to be easy to deal with as well.
The community is currently in the middle of a major redevelopment project, which can at times interfere with the traffic patterns around and within the community. There can also, at times, be some construction noise. The management has generally succeeded in keeping enough distance between the occupied buildings and the work area that this inconvenjience is minimized, though.
