I am writing in response to *** *** communication to you regarding our service to his heating and air unit. We considered *** *** and his wife a lovely, hard working young couple who we were glad to serviceDue to their work schedule we serviced them after hours and did not charge
after hour fees - in fact - we bent over back wards to accommodate their work schedules for both the original diagnosis as well as the installationWe scheduled them late in the day and stayed very late into the evening to finish our work. The air handler is located in a crawl space underneath the houseThe owner had spread over an inch thick of gravel on the dirt underneath the house - which is not - but didn't seem to hurt anythingAnd people do cosmetic things to their house for reasons known only to themWe are used to that, after all - it is their house. Most people just leave the dirt untouched and we crawl underneath the houseWhen technicians are under a house it is easier to crawl on the dirt than hard rocksBeing on your knees or back fixing units is never easyDirt is a much softer bed to lie or crawl on than gravel, but it is our job and as always we persevere and complete our mission. We did in fact have to dig out extra space to fit the Air handler due to reasons:1) The gravel had to be removed to make space for the Air Handler, which was not grossly oversized according to *** ***. 2) The only Air Handlers that would work with the outside Heat Pump was of a specific sizeA bit bigger than the one installed over years beforeThere simply are no Air handlers the size of that old one any more - room had to be made - but only about inchesThe extra gravel/dirt was left in a mound because it could not be put back in the the crawl space due to spacial issues We did not take it with us as it was not oursIt was up to the customer to do with it as he chose.*** *** was fully aware of all the actions we took because he got in the crawl space with us, and stayed thereWe explained everything we did - as we were doing it - under his constant supervision throughout the entire installation. A major problem we encountered when we pulled out the old Air Handler to install a new one, was a deadly black mold on the Return Air DuctAlthough we removed the contaminated Return Air Duct as quickly and safely as possible, both employees were sick afterwardsTheir breathing was erratic and it took about two weeks for them to recoverWe removed that extra duct and replaced it at no cost to the customer.Upon finishing the installation, *** *** was extremely pleasedWe heard no complaint until now. Upon retrospect of this newly brought up issue, we now believe the gravel was there due to what must have been previous flooding of which the owner never warned usThe black mold - so deep inside the return supply duct had to be there also because of previous and constant flooding that the owner, of course must have been aware of. The problem was not our installation, but the the flooding of a poorly and dangerously designed, crawl space. Upon further investigation into this matter, we contacted the warranty company we performed this work forThey informed us that ** *** did not get Max Heating and Air to replace the new unit we installed last year

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to [redacted] and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
[The reason that I am not satisfied is for MANY reasons. My crawl space does have gravel in it but it was not put there by us and there is also vapor barrier covering the entire crawl space. The previous owners never mentioned flooding and the home inspector found no evidence of flooding. The crawl space does not flood now it is only the HOLE that they dug that fills with water. The hole is also much deeper than three inches and we can send pictures to prove it. [redacted] never informed us of "After Hour Fees" and because we both work full time jobs which we informed them when we set up the time that we would not be home till 5pm and they never said that would be a problem. As for the health issues we never saw any safety precautions taken by the technicians when they discovered the mold when taking the air handler apart. Also we were told by numerous companies once the issues started in spring that [redacted] should have suspended the air handler from the crawl space celling instead of digging a hole.  And lastly the reason that [redacted] and Air is not installing our new unit is because we have chosen to hire our own company through our home warranty and we are waiting on the parts to come in. Regardless of who is replacing it, the air handler is going to have to be completely replaced due to improper instillation. Lastly I was there to observe some of Avalanche Air's instillation and did sign off on the job but because we have a home warranty they chose Avalanche Air to replace our unit and we were not pleased with their work and they were very untruthful in their response to our complaint.]
