I never receive a written estimate for services. When we received the bill it had no start or finish time on it! Part of his justification was it took him 2 hours but there was no start or finish time written on the receipt. The informal estimate on the phone he told us it will be between $150 - $350 depending on the job. It was only one $2 part that had a crack in the sprinkler system ( an elbo or 90 ) and we were charge at the top of the estimate. He charged $335! If he would have given us a written estimate before hand and let us know. Okay I have identified the problem. Here are the parts I need, and here is how long it will take. Here is the price point your looking at. I would have paid the $98 charge to come out and look at it and sent him on his way. He stated on the phone "that's what you should have done." I however was not give the opportunity to say no thank you! He just did the work and handed over a bill for the top end of the verbal estimate. I was not there when the work was done so my wife paid him. When I got home I called him and asked him what justifies this $335 price point and he had no answer for me. He said something like well the glue has to dry for 30 mins before her could see if it is fixed. So while he waited for the glue to dry he was handing my wife a bill for time he thought it would take before he left. So he is charging me while he was waiting for the glue to dry? Okay well that doesn't make sense! That's outrageous and so was the bill! So, I was paying him to hand me a bill and tell me wife what he did...ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!! I also asked him well what does a $150 job look like if only 1 elbo is cracked and need to be replaced. He never did answer that one! He just danced around the question saying...IN MY 27 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE....AND DEFLECTED FROM ANSWERING

I am rejecting this response because: The contract says estimate, which we did not receive. We received a final bill, that was it. The receipt your looking at has no parts no labor. Just whatever he wanted to charge. No estimate was done. We my wife said come when you can, but never did she say, don't look at it first and give us an estimate.

The facts are:
1. We gave Mrs. a verbal estimate $150-$350 to repair her sprinkler system over the phone. She did not ask for a written estimate, but a verbal estimate will do; and when she signed the Work Proposal, that created a binding contract.
2. Mrs. had the opportunity to not sign the Work Proposal and to not pay the bill with a Credit Card.
3. Mrs. is the one who called, left a message on my phone, and answered my phone call stating that I would be there later in the day. She could have said “NO” at any time.
4. Mrs. was not forced to sign the Work Proposal.
5. Mrs. saw the amount and could have refused service, but she did not- probably because she wanted her sprinkler system fixed!
6. Now, where were you, Mr. when your wife asked you to meet with us? Well as stated in the voice mail you were not going to coordinate your schedule to meet with us. So, if you are not going to meet with us, then you will have to accept your wife's decision to hire us and to complete the sprinkler work that you tried to fix. The work is completed, the contract is signed, the credit card company received your wife's signature and has sent your funds to our company to satisfy your repair bill. If this is such a thorn in your side, I recommend that you make the phone call next time and set up your own sprinkler repair.
7. Lastly, we never did speak with Mr. initially, this was all his wife's doing and Mr. needs to accept her decision! She is over 18 yrs old and can make up her own mind as to how to spend her money!
