Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

The definition of Internet Café is a minor point. Internet cafés are a natural evolution of the traditional café. Cafés started as places for information exchange, and have always been used as places to read the paper, send postcards home, play traditional or electronic games, chat to friends, find out local information. While most Internet cafés are private businesses many have been set up to help bridge the 'digital divide', providing computer access and training to those without home access.
A coffee shop is a Café. Coffeehouse and coffee shop are related terms for an establishment, which primarily serves prepared coffee and other hot beverages. Café or cafe or caff may refer to a coffeehouse, bar, tea room, small and cheap restaurant, transport cafe, or other casual eating and drinking place, depending on the culture. A coffeehouse may share some of the same characteristics of a bar or restaurant, but it is different from a cafeteria. As the name suggests, coffeehouses focus on providing coffee and tea as well as light snacks. Many coffee houses in the Middle East, and in West Asian immigrant districts in the Western world, offer shisha (nargile in Turkish and Greek), flavored tobacco smoked through a hookah. Espresso bars are a type of coffeehouse that specialize in serving espresso and espresso-based drinks.
As Internet access is in increasing demand, many pubs, bars and cafés have terminals, so the distinction between the Internet café and normal café is eroded.
MESSAGE FROM BUSINESS:
1. This is a coffee shop, not a internet café. We sell drinks and food.
2. We don't sell WIFI service. Our WIFI is complimentary for a customer who consumes minimum $3 on food or drinks. WIFI is not our obligation.
3. My employees work on hourly salary, not on commission. They have no intention to MAKE people to pay for anything.
4. The WIFI was not working on your computer but working on others at the time you mentioned.
5. We don't refund or exchange food.
Our WIFI is complimentary for a customer who consumes minimum $3 on food or drinks. WIFI is not our obligation.
Ave Coffee says their WIFI is complimentary for a customer who consumes minimum $3 on food or drinks.  I originally purchased a coffee for $1.50. Asked for the WIFI password, I had to make an additional $1.60 purchase for a bagel to get the password. The receipt given after the second purchase did not have the password. The store manager then told me the WIFI was down. I was told to use the WIFI signal from the [redacted]s across the street.
Complimetary means given or supplied free of charge. Does this mean the Ave Coffee gives the WIFI free of charge to customers who purchase food or drinks for a minimum of $3? This is what  I did, but the WIFI was down. They could  not give complimentary WIFI when the WIFI is not working. Being told  to use the WIFI from [redacted]’s across the street is not receiving complimentary WIFI from Ave Coffee it is receiving complimentary WIFI from [redacted]’s. The free [redacted]'s WIFI is available to customers who pay less than $3.00.
If anyone intended to use [redacted]’s free WIFI why would they go to Ave Coffee  and spend $3 as stated in my original complaint? I purchased more than $3 in food and beverages, but did not receive the password to the Ave Coffee WIFI with the purchase. The Ave Coffee WIFI cannot be used without the password. If other users were using the WIFI they had been also given the password.
According to what Ave Coffee has replied, a customer may sit down at Ave Coffee use [redacted]’s WiFi signal from across the street for free. The Ave Coffee employees have no intention of making people pay for anything. There is no mention in their response to a 3-hour time limit. This is a serious omission since it is common for typical Internet users to stay online for six hours or longer. Anyone with this information about Ave Coffee would enjoy the benefits of free WIFI and unlimited access during hours of operation.
My experience is that Ave Coffee will expect you to pay $3 just for your computer sitting on their table for a maximum of 3 hours whether you are using their Internet or not.  I didn’t want to use [redacted]’s WiFi at Ave Coffee. A better business would not have you using a business neighbor's WiFi and charge $3 as if it was their own complimetary service. A cup of hot coffee for $1.50 or a bagel for $1.60 would have seemed sufficient trade for services provided. There were empty chairs and tables. I was not taking up space needed for other customers.

Review: On March **, 2014 I went to Ave. [redacted]. around 1 PM. I intended to use their free Wi-Fi and have a cup of coffee. I found a table, plugged in my laptop, and went to the counter to order coffee with cream and sugar. I paid $1.50 for the coffee. When back at my table I couldn't logon to Ave. Coffee Wi-Fi network. I asked the employees behind the counter for their Wi-Fi password. The lady behind the counter said that a minimum purchase of $3 was required to use the Wi-Fi. I bought a bagel for $1.60 which brought my total purchases to $3.10. They handed me a receipt. Then they told me their Wi-Fi was not working so use [redacted]. The [redacted] was across the street. [redacted] provides AT&T free Wi-Fi. I had been misled. I thought I would be using Ave. Coffee Wi-Fi when I went into the cafe. I already new [redacted] had free Wi-Fi and large coffees for $1. Ave. Coffee could have posted a sign in the window saying Wi-Fi is not working. Ave. Coffee could have said their Wi-Fi was not working when I asked for the password. Ave. Coffee could have refunded my $3 instead of just telling me to use [redacted] Wi-Fi. I wanted to use their restroom. The employees told me their restrooms were out of order so use [redacted]. The free Wi-Fi that was assumed independent of [redacted] was my main reason for going into Ave. Coffee. If I had known there was no Wi-Fi I would not have spent $3 to use it. The employees knew there was no Wi-Fi and made me pay for it anyway.Desired Settlement: I want a full refund, $3.
