Avis Budget Group

On 29 June 2016, I rented an AVIS rental car at the Minneapolis St. Paul International Airport, Terminal 2, which I had previously reserved using my AVIS Wizard account. I was visiting a elderly mother in a nursing home nearby, so this was a personal rental. Upon arrival, the AVIS agent could not find my reservation. My confirmation number was 39801933US3. When I presented a printout of my reservation confirmation number, they initiated a contract and issued me AVIS car # 47057043, a Gray Dodge Journey.
The next day, 30 June 2016, I received an email from AVIS saying they regretted that I was unable to pick up a car per my reservation, but that if I did have an AVIS car, please contact them. I contacted AVIS at the phone number provided (800) 633-3469 and after being on hold for over 15 minutes was finally connected to "Julio". After explaining that I had an AVIS rental car and giving him my contract information, Julio placed me on hold for another 12 minutes. When he returned to the call he said the AVIS agent at the Minneapolis airport had not correctly registered the rental contract, but that he had resolved the issue. He gave me AVIS case number 17452427.
Upon returning the AVIS rental car on 07 July 2016, I was told by the AVIS check-in agent at the Minneapolis airport, after he had scanned the car's bar-code, that there was no rental record for the vehicle. I had to go to the AVIS counter at the airport and spend another 30 minutes while the AVIS desk agent tried to sort out the problem. While doing this she switched my credit card number from my personal credit card to my company's credit card, which AVIS had on file, without informing me. Embarrassingly, I had to explain what happened to my company's financial officer how AVIS had completely screwed up the personal rental and reimburse my company for the AVIS charge.
When I called the AVIS customer complaint phone number 800-352-7900 to complain about the completely unprofessional way AVIS had handled my rental contract, I gave them the AVIS case number that "Julio" had provided me and was "elevated" to "senior customer service". There I spoke with one of the rudest persons I have ever come across working customer service. She did nothing to respond to my complaint except say my contract problem had been resolved, so she didn't understand why I was upset. When I explained the entire episode, trying to explain why I was upset, she literally laughed at me over the phone. I promptly ended that phone call.
