Review: My 2000 toyota camry paint job was not done right and no refund or repaint was done. I wanted to work with him but he was threatening me to store my vehicle and not give my keys back so I had to pay $950.00 USD to remove my vehicle from the premises with the wrong paint job and body work and full money charge now im stuck with the car with the wrong paint which I use for buisness. we had showed him the color of the other fleet vehicle to match the color of the vehicle but he told us that was an expensive metallic paint. we discussed and agreed to use a little more reasonable paint and match the color but he used the cheapest paint no finishing the car looks like sand paper and still charged the full amount of $950.00. we had other vehicles painted from him which he charged $4200.00 and the paint is peeling off and when we mentioned about fixing it he was refusing and abusing so please kindly take action on him as soon as possible. Thank you

Business' Initial Response

The following is my response to the alleged allegations in the complaint filed by [redacted]. On Friday, May 10th customer brought his vehicle to my body shop for repair. The work that was requested by customer consisted of the following:

1. A two stage paint service:

(The roof was painted green ($300) and the rest of the vehicle was painted grey ($300).)

2. The body work that was completed was to the right rear corner panel and the right front bumper cover ($300).

3. The estimate for this work came to a total of $950.

Prior to any work being done customer and I had a discussion about the paint to be used for the entire vehicle excluding the roof on 2000 Toyota Camry. The customer brought another vehicle from his fleet to show me the color to be used and matched on the 2000 Toyota Camry. I advised and explained to customers the new color he requested to use on the 2000 Toyota Camry is a more expensive base coat paint. Customer expressed he did not want to pay for the expensive cost of the base coat as I suggested and he told me to use a single stage paint that is a lower cost and a cheaper paint.

I strongly advised the customer that using a single stage paint that is a cheaper paint may not match and give the desired outcome of the color of the vehicle he brought from his fleet to show me as an example. The customer strongly insisted that I use the cheaper paint for the 2000 Toyota Camry. The agreement between the customer and I was to paint the entire vehicle except the roof using the cheaper paint. I did exactly what the customer requested using the cheaper paint.

On Thursday, May 23rd the customer arrived at my shop to pick up his vehicle. The customer complained about the paint color for the entire vehicle excluding the roof.

Lastly, I never threatened to store his vehicle, I never threatened to keep his keys, and at no time during any of our conversations did I disrespect or refuse to work with the customer.

In the past, the customer has brought other vehicles for service to my repair shop. One of those vehicles cost for repair was $4,200 and the collision work included: paint, body work, body parts and frame work. The customer was happy and very satisfied with the services provided in the past. The customer never brought to my attention that there was a paint even after (8) eight months later. The customer never brought the vehicle to my repair shop.

In conclusion, I have been in the auto body business for over 15 years and I proudly stand behind any of the services provided by my work. In all of my years in business I have never had any complain about the quality of work. My customers' happiness and approval for any services are important to me. I would like the opportunity to resolve this matter with the customer with following options:

1. The customer can bring the 2000 Toyota Camry to my repair shop and I will resolve the paint color for the entire car except the roof.

Or

2. I will refund the customer #350.

If you have additional questions, please contact me.

Consumer's Final Response

Hi this is [redacted], Noticed today that my case was closed .I had sent you the reply but not sure how come you never received it.

Mam I Payed $4200 for Body work & paint for my Toyota Sienna, and all the paint is peeling off after few months. As the statement from the shop I took it back after 8 months ,I totally understand but please tell me would anyone pay $4200 for a 8 month job .All body shops as far as I know give 1 year warranty work ! Any way I agreed for $350 settlement for my 2000 Toyota Camry. But I m not taking my vehicles back to the shop again for more work .What ever Revdex.com decides on settlement for Toyota Sienna I will accept that.

Business' Final Response

Refund check was received at the Revdex.com office and forwarded to the consumer by certified mail.
