I was having issues with my birdThis office offers overnight servicesI called them at 6:30pm on a Tuesday evening and spoke to the vet of this officeI told him about the issue my bird Sydney was havingShe had laid in infertile egg which caused some organ issues that were needing emergency attentionWhile on the phone with the vet, he told me I gave him a great description and that this issue was an emergencyThat was basically the extent of the first callWhen I had not heard back from the vet, I called again at 12:30amAgain, I was told that I gave a great description and that this medical issue was an emergency and that their offices would be open at 8:00amThis seemed very odd to me considering they told me it was a medical emergency yet they were having me wait all this time until the next morning even though they offer overnight servicesThe vet was not acting like this was an emergency even though he told me it wasI got there when the offices opened in the morning expecting for the vet to be there or at least for his techs to be aware of this situationThe vet was not there and his technicians had no idea that I would be coming in with my emergencyWhen telling the tech my situation, he actually told me himself that this was a bad day to be having an emergency because the vet actually had some personal matters to attend to with his own dogThe tech also said that they were under staffed on this dayAgain, this shows me that my situation did not seem very important to this vetHe seemed very absent and the techs handled a lotHis dog issues seemed more important than my emergency with Sydney Finally around 10am the vet finally arrived and handled my bird Sydney’s situationAfter all these delays, and mentioning it was a medical emergency, it only took the vet about 15-minutes to get my birds issued fixed and get her all stitched upThey did hold on to her to make sure she would progress betterI made payment and got all her bills taken care ofI received a call from the Vets office that Friday morning asking for another paymentThey also told me that Sydney had been eating and seemed to be progressing wellIt was positive news to hearThey did tell me that the vet would be calling later to update the rest of my information on SydneyThe vet did call later but with the opposite of positive newsHe had told me that Sydney passed awayI was shocked and speechless, especially because I had been informed just earlier in the morning that she seemed to be doing well and eatingThe Vet when telling me this didn’t seem very remorseful or concerned with how this all progressedWhat bothers me and hurts me is how this vet seemed very unprofessional in many aspects of this situationIf it was an emergency like the vet had said/described from the very first phone call I had made, then why did they wait over half a day to see her? If they would have seen her right away, she may possibly still be with us todayIf this was a person, it would have been handled right awayThis bird I consider a family memberWhen an office provides overnight services, and when I talk to them and they tell me I have an emergency, I believe the problem should have been addressed in a timely effortIf I had brought her in right away, she still may have not survived, I don’t knowBut what I do feel I know is that her chances of surviving would have been so much greater if this would have been treated with urgency and an emergency like I feel it should have been
