Axis Builders, Inc. Reviews (13)

The company was bought out by new owners.  We will work to get this job rectified and completed. Will update with a completion date as soon as we have one.

We are working to get this home completed. After various setbacks out of our control, we lifted the home and had the foundation put in, but now we are waiting on the township. The inspectors are scheduled for inspection on Wednesday of this week, but since it is a holiday, we cannot guarantee they...

will show. We cannot do anything until the inspection is completed. Out of our control.

This subcontractor's workers were arrested for stealing from the house next door to our customer when working on this project. [redacted] would never show up when he said he was going to show up. When he did show up, he was always late. He would promise to be at a job and not show which caused...

customers to get upset and eventually seek other contractors to complete the work. On numerous occasions we had to higher new subcontractors to redo or fix what Fernando did because it was done incomplete or wrong. He then began to bad mouth us to our customers, which actually caused this customer to kick us off the job before paying us for the work that was already completed. He was the reason for the problems and instead he blamed us for his mistakes.

Design drawings took longer than originally factored due to zoning issues.  Permits also took longer than anticipated.  Factory lead times also increased since the original contract signing as well.  Some of these factors were beyond our control.  The first floor was not 100%...

complete from factory.  Most finishes had to be site built.  The entire second floor is conventional construction as well.  So longer lead times are required for the entire second floor as well.  Work has been progressing steadily as we have had guys working continuously.  We are sorry the anticipated time frame is not to the homeowners expectations.  We are however working to get this home completed as soon as possible.

This is the first we are hearing of this.  We apologize that this happen, however, we are new owners that bought the old Axis Builders LLC in October of 2014.  We do not have any information about this job. If the homeowner would like to contact our office to come out and take a look for...

her, we will do our best to help in anyway we can.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: I don't accept the response for the delays in the initial building process.  I was just told their had been an unexpected delay in the factory and they refused to say what that was.  Secondly, since my house was installed on the pilings at the end of July and up until now, there has not been a steady stream of workers.  For the first month or so their were virtually no workers.  Lately, my neighbors tell me that one or two workers show up, drink coffee, eat bagels, work for an hour and leave.  They finally just last week had a plumber and electrician in to do some preliminary work but I still have no sewar, no gas, no electricity, no siding, no decking.  The HVAC has not even begun to be installed and the weather is getting cold.    I also had a letter from their [redacted] Company threatening to lien my home because Axis hadn't paid them.  They have done some framing upstairs but it's not sealed by the sofits and the insulation has not been put in up there yet so the cold air and elements can come in.  There is really no move in date in sight so this has not been resolved.
Regards,
[redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:I'll accept the "response" when they complete the job.  This is the same answer I have been told for 9 months.

[redacted] could not deliver until today. Awning is being delivered today and installed between tomorrow and Saturday, March 21, 2015.

We contacted the customers Mr. & Mrs [redacted].  There awning is being delivered today to their home and installed tomorrow.

Review: I contracted with Axis Builders to raise my home after Sandy in the middle of 2013 after meeting with the owner at the time, [redacted]. Over a year later in July of 2014, I was billed and paid for 50% of the cost to apply stone veneer and finish off the four pilings that my front deck sits on. The total paid in July of 2014 was $1,781.50. For the past 9 months (from July of 2014 until April of 2015) I have had to call over and over and over and over, to find out the status and inquire about when the work would be done. I had been told "soon" on every occasion. I was told in December of 2014 that there is now a new owner of Axis and that they want to fix the issue and get it done right away. I have even been told in the past that the stone veneer was ordered and sitting in my garage (of course it never arrived). I have 4 pilings in the front of my house that are covered with plywood and have been since last summer. I called Axis and asked to speak with the new owner in March of 2015. He told me "he would make some calls." After 9 months of waiting and being taken advantage of by this company, I decided to file a complaint with the NJ Revdex.com.Desired Settlement: The desired outcome is that the four pilings in the front of my home will be immediately finished in the exact manner that had been reviewed with an employee of Axis while at my home. A sloppy rush job to just make me go away will not be acceptable.

Review: I signed a contract with this company to build and install a modular home back in November 2013. I met with the owner [redacted] previously and was told that it would take about three months from the time I signed the contract until I was in the home. At first there were several long delays in the design phase which they blamed on the engineers. Then the building of the house was delayed. They refused to give me any reason for the delay in the building process in the factory. They released the design in April and the house wasn't finished until the end of July after I had been told 5 weeks to build in the factory. The house was delivered July 28th. I was told I could get a partial CO and move into the first floor after a few weeks of delivery. These statements are also on their website. However, virtually no work has been done on the house since July 28th. I have paid them the majority of the money for the completed home or $153k. They would not deliver the home until they were paid with a certified check. There is one worker there now working on the back deck. Nothing else has been done. There are no pipes, HVAC, electricity, gas, sewar, water, etc. etc. There is no end in sight and I am being given excuse after excuse. I was told by the lone worker, they can't get sub-contractors. I don't understand why they weren't lined up. It's not like they didn't know what needed to be done months ago. I understood after I signed the contract that because it was a Cape, they needed to build out the second floor on site and that it would take several weeks to do that. The upstairs is still just a shell and zero work has been started on that either.Desired Settlement: I want the owner to intervene to help the project manager who cannot seem to get anyone to work for him. I want the plumbing, HVAC, Sewar, electric, etc. installed, hooked up and turned on right away. I want workers hired and I want work started right away.

Review: On Oct 16, 2014 we contracted with [redacted] (then president of Axis Builders)to order and install a [redacted] awning at our home. We gave him a deposit of $1670 (half the cost of purchase and installation). We have a signed contract with these details spelled out. Delivery was to be to our house in approx. 3 weeks with installation to follow. After 4 weeks we heard nothing, so we called and talked to [redacted] in [redacted]'s office, who promised to "check on it". After several phone calls with her she claimed that awning was delivered to their warehouse and installation would be arranged. After not hearing any more we stopped at Axis office in Forked River and was greeted by ** (managing director, Lic#[redacted] and new home builder #[redacted]), who informed us that he had bought the company from [redacted] in November. At that point he said he was unaware of our order, and paper work had been left in disarray by [redacted], but that he would check it out for us. We called him 2 days later and he claimed that awning is in his warehouse and will install it when weather permits. This was mid January. At this point we realized that installation was not possible due to the weather. We then sent ** a registered letter (we have confirmation) requesting that he give us the invoice/packing slip showing that Axis Builders received the awning in their warehouse, or refund our deposit of $1670. No reply from them was received. We then decided to call [redacted] awning directly to see if we could determine if awning had ever been ordered. On Feb 16, 2015, we received a phone call from Crista from [redacted] awning headquarters (ph#[redacted]) who informed us that they had no record of any such awning being ordered or shipped.Desired Settlement: Unless ** can provide us with the invoice/packing slip showing that awning was delivered to Axis Builders, we expect a refund of $1670.
