Axis Roofing completed roof repair but never completed interior repair, received payment in full and refuse to send a refund for work not completed.Axis Roofing installed a new roof at my rental property located at [redacted] the first week of September 2014. A portion of the claim was for interior ceiling repair in a bedroom. Axis Roofing never repaired the ceiling. I've sent 3 letters requesting payment in full of $463.16 and they have refused to honor the request. The 1st week of December 2014 they sent a partial payment, I returned the check December 10, 2014 requesting full payment.Desired SettlementAccording to my insurance company, $463.16 was allocated for ceiling repair. Since Axis Roofing did not make the repairs I'm requesting a refund.Business Response Contact Name and Title: [redacted]Contact Phone: [redacted]Contact Email: [redacted]January 9, 2015RE: Revdex.com CASE#: [redacted] Having completed over 3,000 successful roofing installations with associated general contracted services and being recognized as the highest volume residential roofing contractor in the state of North Carolina, we have found it is extremely difficult (at many levels) to allow an unknown sub-contractor (potentially unlicensed) to come in after the project is underway....at the request of the customer. Mrs. [redacted] wanted to change our agreement after 95% of work was complete and requested a refund on a portion of the scope of work contracted. These are many challenges that we face legally and financially when considering such a proposal. 1) "Where the liability starts and ends with each sub-contractor is at the top of the list. It is Axis Roofing & Energy standard operating procedure to carry the complete responsibility. This leaves us with considerable increased liability.2) We commonly observe and agree to provide contracting services for the amount of the total insurance claim plus the deductible. Over 90% of the time, line items on the insurance summary are over or under stated. This includes items not addressed in the claims summary, item or scope left out, measurement adjustments, quantity adjustments, etc. As a result, it makes it impossible to view the project on a single line item basis. This changes our original cost basis and can commonly reduce projected profitability. With this in mind, we have policy not to allow scope of work or pricing changes after the project has begun. This is standard policy in the industry with most professional contracting companies, unless provided for in a separate contract and/or agreement. In response to phone communications in late October, we agreed to refund the portion of the project in the amount of $265.72 as identified on the [redacted] Farm claims summary. I have attached the [redacted]e claim (Attachment A - Claims Summary Page 007), note circled painting line item. On October 30, 2014, we sent the refund check# [redacted] in the amount of $265.72 (Attachment B -copy of $265.72 check). In response to the first written correspondence (letter with check returned with refund request in the amount of $463.16) at the end of November (Attachment C -Copy of letter dated November 7, 2015). We could not confirm this new amount, however, as a token of appreciation and showing our willingness to go the extra mile, we have sent check #[redacted] in the amount of $463.16 newly requested amount (Attachment D -copy of $463.16 check) , via [redacted] (signature required). We confirmed receipt to Mrs. [redacted]'s PO Box, January 10, 2015.I hope this brings clarity to the situation and our commitment to be a professional quality insurance specialty contractor.Thank you.[redacted]President/CEOAxis Roofing & Energy(910) [redacted]www.axisroof.com
