Complaint[redacted]In the Fall of 2014 Ayotte Plumbing Heating and A/C installed Refrigerant in our air conditioner and told us that due to its age around 6 years that sometimes they just lose refrigerant and they would recharge the system. We agreed and they recharged the system only to have all of the refrigerant deplete once again. We understand now, in speaking to [redacted] of Ayotte plumbing that refrigerant should never fully deplete in a system as it had in ours and if it does then 99% of the time it means there is a leak. No testing was suggested by Ayotte in 2014 to test for a leak, a matter we would have agreed to have undertaken immediately given a quick fix such as that which was completed was in no way helpful to us situation. We advised [redacted] that its now plus 30's all this week and we have a 1 year old and a 3 year old who are having trouble dealing with the heat of our home. [redacted] advised to find another plumber and that he would not come to our home to do any repairs and then accused me of not even being home during the repairs of 2014 which is untrue as I was outside watching two of the plumbing techs complete the refill myself. He advised Ayotte would have for sure told me that there was probably a leak, I assured [redacted] no one advised us of this and we with obvious reasons would have gladly had the problem corrected instead of incurring needless costs associated with filling the system only to have it deplete once again. [redacted]. [redacted] advised that 99% of the time a leaking A-Coil is to blame, regrettably [redacted] was not involved in our original service call and had he been maybe this information would have been conveyed to us which would have altered the course of action to include replacing the A-Coil at around $600.00 installed he advised in cost as opposed to incurring recharge costs which then leaked out again.Desired SettlementWe are seeking to recover the repair recharging costs associated with our billing in 2014 to recharge our system. [redacted] Business Response In the fall of 2014 we went to the house as their air conditioning was not cooling. We filled it up with refrigerant. Advise client that if it happened again there may be a leak and to call us. (like we tell all our clients) He signed the work sheet approving work. At the end of May 2015, we received a call saying their ac was not cooling again. I went to take a look and advised client that we would check for a leak and a date of June 3 (six business days away & our soonest appointment) was set with his wife. On May 26 a phone conversation took place between Mr [redacted] and my wife, he was upset and advised her that date would not work [redacted]. My wife advised him I would call, which I did. He was very upset, [redacted]. That's when I told him he could find another plumber [redacted]. Our bookings are on a first come first served basis, unless in the event of an emergency, which this was not. [redacted]. Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)They put in 70oz of refrigerant into our system that as we have been told is absolutely ALL of the systems refrigerant and would have been 100% indicative of a major leak as this is refilling the entire system which is not normal. [redacted] has come by and they advised that with a sniffer they tested and found the leak in 10 minutes and the previous plumber should have never put in 70oz of refrigerant because this is the entire systems capacity. [redacted]. [redacted] the whole systems acoil is leaking and when they filled the refrigerant they needlessly costed us the full amount of their invoice when a leak test would have been obvious given they had just put in 70oz of refrigerant.
