I took my vehicle to this business for oil leaking and smoke from burning oil on 12/9/2019. On 12/10/2019 I was told by the business I needed to have my valve cover gasket replaced. On 12/11/2019 the service to my vehicle was complete. I was informed everything with the vehicle was good and running. Once I got to my vehicle and tried to drive issues with my starting happened. The mechanic told me to step on the gas multiple times while turning the key. The vehicle started. As of 12/12/19 my vehicle struggled to start again, a slew of engine codes appeared, eventually came on, and within 3 miles power to the engine cut off. Took the vehicle back to the shop, I was informed the mechanic forgot to plug a sensor back in, vehicle running, and future services to be done. Once I got my vehicle I observed that abs light, brake light, esp light, and my speedometer was ineffective. I reported these new problems to the shop, they told me once I pay for repairs whatever problems that now exist will be fixed. However, the only thing they can do is look at it again.

01/22/2020 To whom it may concern, This letter is in reference to complaint ID# ***. The vehicle was brought into the shop for service on December 10, 2019. Vehicle was driven in, upon on arrival the customer was checked in and asked what concern did he have with the vehicle. The customer stated that the engine was smoking and needed to have it checked. An invoice was created and given to a technician to identify customers' concern. Upon checking the vehicle, Technician states there was a big oil leak from the valve cover gasket, and leaking engine oil on the exhaust therefore creating smoke. The customer was called and notified of the situation and explained that we would have to 1st replace the valve cover gasket clean the excess engine oil on the exhaust and recheck. Customer agreed and gave an okay to begin the work. The valve cover gasket was then replaced and proceeded to clean off the excess engine oil all over the engine. Upon completion of repairs re-verified to ensure no other oil leak and found no other leak at this time. The customer then arrived and picked up his vehicle on December 11, 2019 at 4:43pm. The customer picked up the vehicle and drove off and called back after about 10 minutes and stated multiple lights were coming on the dash, speedometer not working, and had no power. The customer returned on December 11, 2019 and dropped off vehicle to have it rechecked. The following day on December 12th 2019 the vehicle was rechecked and found vacuum hose not secure, secured vacuum hose but also noticed gauges not working properly inside dash. The vehicle seemed to have been having an electrical problem not related to the valve cover gasket. Did some further analysis and found vehicle to be overheating in the coolant system but be advised the coolant gauge is not working properly. It would not show overheating on the dash due to malfunction of the gauge. Did further testing of the coolant system and found water pump bearing going bad, the water pump needs to be replaced, and would suggest replacing thermostat, with coolant temp sensor, advised to replace idler pulley and belt tensioner old and worn. Customer was notified of situation and advised customer after further checking the vehicle it is not safe to drive vehicle, and that additional repairs were to be made. The customer then decided to pick vehicle up and leave. As a Service Manager in the Auto industry we understand customers' come 1st and we attend to customers' request and or concern. This happens to be a situation where an oil leak which was leaking on the exhaust from the valve cover gasket could cause a fire. Hazardous situation. Additional repairs are needed and not related to work performed on vehicle. "If there are any questions and or concerns you can reach me via phone or email. Thanks in advance. Sincerely
