AZ Home Renters

We have two properties currently being managed by AZ Home Renters. We realized very early into our contracts we have made a mistake in using this company. They are disorganized and I suspect, dishonest , in their business dealings. They have failed to timely notify us on two occasions in the previous year of serious events concerning our properties. The first event was a break-in that occurred at one property in which 3 large appliances, keys and the garage door opener were stolen. We were not notified of this for 3 full days after it occurred and despite 6 months of making requests for copies of the new keys to the home after the locks were changed, we still did not receive them. After numerous emails and voicemails (which were never returned) we finally got someone to commit to sending us the keys. After not receiving them for another week, and another round of phone calls and emails, we were told they had been mailed two weeks before.

When they finally were mailed out to us (with no notice and no indication of what was mailed) we received a damaged package from the postal service. [redacted], of AZHR, had placed multiple keys, 2 key rings and a garage door opener into a plain white letter envelope with the address of the property clearly marked on the keys and dropped that into the mail. She appeared to have no idea why that was wrong and the danger this placed the property and tenants in. Anyone could have stolen one of the keys and gotten into the house. Ms. [redacted] insisted a postal service employee had advised her this was the appropriate way to mail these items.

The second incident in which we were not timely notified occurred yesterday. A storm which occurred the previous night caused a tree on one of the properties to have some damage. We were not notified by Ms. [redacted] until 5:45 pm the following day that she had contracted with someone to remove the broken branches, for a cost of $800.00. She did not notify us until the work was already done, had no idea it had been done and violated the terms of our contract by spending money without prior approval from us.

I informed Ms. [redacted] in January of this year not to renew the tenants lease as we would not renew services with AZHR and I had sold the property to a family member. They did not inform the tenants of this and asked me on 3 later occasions whether we would be renewing the lease.

I should note the agent who was managing our properties left the company and we were not notified. Ms. [redacted] has apparently been managing our properties, after I previously indicated I wanted her to have no contact with our accounts. She is not an agent and cannot act in that role. I discovered incidentally she has a personal relationship with the current tenants which was not previously disclosed and is a clear conflict of interest.

Thankfully, I have retained copied of every email exchange between myself and MS. [redacted] and have the documentation in regard to everything stated in this review.
