I have contacted our Billing Company to find out what has happened to this date of service The Billing Company has stated that they have resubmitted the claim to Blue Cross Blue ShieldI have contacted Blue Cross Blue Shield who has informed me that they are reprocessing the claim I am unaware of what the $charge was, but have informed the Billing Company to adjust that charge off of the account I want to extend my apologies to how this situation was handled and assure you that this is not how AZ-Tech Radiology conducts our Billing Ernesto has been reprimanded for how he handled this account If at anytime you have questions or concerns, I can be reached at ###-###-#### Thank you Donna L [redacted] Billing Manager AZ-Tech Radiology

For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.My son *** and I discussed with *** that he had insurance but it would all go towards his deductibleWe asked her for the best price since it would all be out of his pocket*** was well aware he had insuranceWhen *** went in for his procedure he also told the check in person that *** quoted him $Since the check in person knew that he was quoted $why did she ask for his insurance OR why didn't she consult with *** or discuss with *** your practicing proceduresI feel we were taken advantage of by this company..they just wanted to get us in and would have told us anything to get us in the door.

I would like the add the condition that you personally monitor the processing of this claim to its completion, since the original error was yours, not mine, and inform me when it has been finalized.

AZ-Tech Radiology was required by law to charge patient the deductible amount that patient's insurance required which is $215.95.    AZ-Tech Radiology was paid zero by the insurance and the amount billed is the amount that is always billed to all insurances for this procedure.   I have attached the EOB which shows that the only amount being paid to AZ-Tech Radiology is the patient's deductible, which again is what the insurance has REQUIRED us to charge the patient.   We are not committing fraud, we are following the insurance guidelines set up by this patients insurance.   Cash prices are only offered to people without insurance.   We are unable to do a cash price if the patient's insurance has been charged.   Patient is responsible for the deductible and can appeal with insurance if patient feels this was processed incorrectly.   AZ-Tech Radiology only charges what insurances require.

I made a call to the debt collection agency today and they confirmed my account no longer shows as owing anything and that nothing was or will be placed on my credit card report.

I hope this complaint and dispute is posted on a website for others to see. It's fraud. I was quoted about $500 for a low contrast scan of my abdomen. It's the least expensive abdomen scan that a doctor can order. I don't make a doctor's salary and I have to know what it costs before the procedure is done. AZ Radiology charged my insurance company well over $800. My doctor and I called their place of business for a quote and the self pay rate is $170 but they couldn't answer my question about insurance until I got there. When I arrived, the person at the front desk excused herself to ask a supervisor or radiologist about my procedure. She came back and told me it was approximately a $500 procedure and it would cost me about $100 with my insurance applied. My choice was to pay $100 or $170. I paid the $100 and the person at the front desk never said a word to me about additional charges. If they did I would have opted to pay $170 the day of the procedure. About a month or two ago I talked with a supervisor or radiologist at AZ Tech Radiology and told him I opted for the self pay rate of $170. I immediately sent the additional $70 and then two or three weeks later I get a letter from a collection agency. This contest is over about $45. AZ Tech Radiology collected almost $800 for a procedure that costs $500. This is what's wrong with our healthcare system. I paid my bill. Thank you.

provided us with insurance at the time of service we are obligated to bill the insurance. The amount we charged is what the patients insurance stated was owed for the procedure. The patient can call their insurance company to verify this. 
Since our policy is to only have cash prices for hardship/indigent cases, we feel that the out of pocket price from the insurance should stand.

I have reviewed this account with the supervisor at the center where Mr. [redacted] was seen.   Mr. [redacted] was told if he wanted to pay cash it would be $170.00, but if his insurance was billed he would be responsible for the Deductible, Coinsurance or Copayment.   At the time of...

his visit the insurance required us to collect $101.20, which we did.   Mr. [redacted] was informed that we would submit to his insurance and bill him for any remaining amount that the insurance required.    I have attached the patients explanation of benefits which shows that the insurance required $215.95 as his deductible.   We bill a rate that is CMS approved by law and for this particular procedure the billed amount was $823.00 which is the amount we bill all insurances.   Our contracted rate with [redacted] is $215.95 which the insurance stated patient owes towards his deductible and we are required by law to collect.   If the patient needs further information of what his insurance plan covers he should contact [redacted] to appeal with them.   If [redacted] feels this amount is incorrect, they will contact me.   AZ-Tech Radiology is required by law to collect all deductibles.   If we do not this is considered Insurance Fraud.  We only collect the money that the insurance companies require us to.

I have contacted our Billing Company to find out what has happened to this date of service.  The Billing Company has stated that they have resubmitted the claim to Blue Cross Blue Shield.
