Azm Tint Audio Alarm & Accessories Reviews (4)

Unfortunately, in the automotive field, businesses are presented with difficult jobs that entail unforeseen challenges.  This particular vehicle presented AZM with such challenges.  From the beginning, AZM notified the customer of the work that was suggested, along with labor/part...

quotes and was given permission to continue the work directly from the customer.  This particular vehicle was only manufactured for a short period of time, so the parts required to make repairs had to be special ordered and cost both AZM and the customer more money than the typical repairs.  These issues would have been presented from any auto shop in the valley.  The difference being, AZM is a small family run business that is honest and prides itself if offering fair prices for work that MUST be done, rather than work that MAY need to be done.   The customer paid a total amount of $3843.40 for work that any other shop would have charged in excess of $6000.00.  We at AZM are not in the practice of releasing a vehicle that is not up to high standard running condition.  This particular vehicle was released to the customer with an entirely different issue than was originally repaired.  It was not related to any work that was done, nor was it a result of negligence.  The customer was notified of the new issue and decided, himself, to decline more service.  In attempts to keep relations between AZM and the customer on good standing, AZM waived all accrued labor in order to stay within the original quote amount.  This was an expense that AZM absorbed and we were glad to do so.  In the end, AZM did not make any revenue on this repair. We did the best we could do and stand by our decisions.  Thank you for the opportunity to reply.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

I reject the response from AZM on my complaint for the following reasons: 1. Any competent mechanic business after having a vehicle for six months could have repaired this vehicle.2. Not included in their computed dollar amount that I paid are the two other parts I paid directly to the parts store.  The correct number is an additional $325 for the part purchased from the Tucson auto parts store and an additional $2182.82 paid for the control module. These costs would normally be paid by the shop and then charged me on my invoice. They required me to pay for them.3. Due to their shoddy work they are responsible for breaking my high pressure fuel pump, a cam, my control module and my engine.  4. I had diagnostics done on my vehicle before and after my vehicle was in the AZM shop for repair.  Their was no problem with any cam, the fuel pump was working properly and there were no issues with the control module or the engine from these diagnostics until AZM started working on it.5. The labor hours they state they could have charged me are only estimates to make it look like they were working on the vehicle every day.6.  I agreed to tow my vehicle back to AZM from [redacted] only after I was quoted that they would not charge me any more money to finish the job.  When I was asked to pick up my un-repaired vehicle they stated I would have to pay an additional $1000.00 to take it home.  Only after stating I did not have that much money did they allow me to pay $400.00 to be able to take it home.7. What reputable mechanic shop would have a vehicle, any vehicle, for over six months and charge the customer over $6000 and NOT return the vehicle in running condition? The vehicle is now worthless and cannot be driven.

Regards,

AZM Tint provided tinting services for this vehicle in August, 2014.  After a couple attempts to provide a clean tint job it was determined that the interior of the vehicle was just too dirty to allow a clean tint application.  Please keep in mind that this vehicle was sent directly to us...

from a body shop.  There was body work dust everywhere and we did the best possible job given the circumstances.  Please note that we showed the customer towels containing the endless debris/dirt from the window tracks.  One more note to add, we use an integrated window tint plotter that automatically cuts windows to size.  The benefit of this program is that no razor blades are ever used inside of vehicles.  We did not trim any window components/gaskets.  It is in our best interest to provide the most professional job possible for all applications.  AZM has been in business for more than 20 years and we pride ourselves on professionalism and clean applications.  We could like nothing more than to attempt to make this situation right given the circumstances regarding the body shop dust.  I can be reached Monday Through Friday from 9:00AM-5:30PM.Sincerely yours,[redacted]Owner

Thank you for the opportunity to reply to the following allegations listed by our customer. 1. Any competent mechanic business after having a vehicle for six months could have repaired this vehicle. The mechanics at AZM are thorough and professional, and unpleasant instances are the exception rather than the norm. It was never the intention of AZM to have our customers automobile for as long as we did.  What came in as a seemed simple matter, turned into a long-term nightmare due to the manufactured year of the vehicle (The motor and components were only manufactured for 1 year) and the difficulty in obtaining parts. 2. They required me to pay for them. AZM does not keep track of customer supplied parts, as they are not accounted for in our inventory.  If AZM recommended a customer obtain their own part, it was because it would save them some time and hassle.  In this circumstance, the parts mentioned were not available locally.  AZM did not have any control over the cost of the items supplied; however, if the customer had indicated that he would like AZM to order the parts, AZM would have happily complied. 3. Due to their shoddy work they are responsible for breaking my high pressure fuel pump, a cam, my control module and my engine.  AZM has been in business for 20 years.  Automotive work was added in 2008.  In that amount of time, we have not had any complaints that could not be settled.  AZM does not provide shoddy work. Please see number 4 for the descriptions of the issues with the parts in question. 4. I had diagnostics done on my vehicle before and after my vehicle was in the AZM shop for repair.  Their was no problem with any cam, the fuel pump was working properly and there were no issues with the control module or the engine from these diagnostics until AZM started working on it. On the paperwork submitted by both AZM and the customer, the diagnosis from AZM was estimated and the customer prepaid for the work to be done.  This indicates the customer agreed with the issues and accepted the new diagnosis provided by AZM.  When the vehicle arrived at AZM, there was an indicator light on the dash for “reduced power.”Both a bad valve and a faulty high-pressure fuel pump caused this. The cam broke because the high-pressure head mounted fuel pump locked up.These issues were both discussed and confirmed with the customer. After aforementioned repairs were completed, it was determined the engine control module was faulty resulting in all issues.  The customer was notified and the vehicle was brought to [redacted] Isuzu for installation of a new computer.  AZM was not involved in this customer decision.  5. The labor hours they state they could have charged me are only estimates to make it look like they were working on the vehicle every day. The hours on the bill were an honest accumulation of the additional hours worked on the vehicle.  It was impossible to work on the vehicle each day due to the wait for special parts, etc.  Parts for this vehicle (due to the year, make and model), were difficult to obtain because most had been discontinued.  For example, the replacement high-pressure fuel pump had to ordered through [redacted] Isuzu and was shipped directly from Japan.  The part was not available in North America.  This particular part took many weeks to arrive and AZM did not have any control over this issue. 6.  I agreed to tow my vehicle back to AZM from [redacted] only after I was quoted that they would not charge me any more money to finish the job.  When I was asked to pick up my un-repaired vehicle they stated I would have to pay an additional $1000.00 to take it home.  Only after stating I did not have that much money did they allow me to pay $400.00 to be able to take it home. The hours on the final bill to the customer were discussed on the telephone prior to the customer arriving to pick up his vehicle.  It was after he showed up that AZM decided to write off the additional labor in an attempt to avoid any ill feelings pertaining to a difficult job with an unpredictable outcome.  7. What reputable mechanic shop would have a vehicle, any vehicle, for over six months and charge the customer over $6000 and NOT return the vehicle in running condition? The vehicle is now worthless and cannot be driven. In short, AZM did not have the vehicle for more than six months.  The vehicle (per customer instruction) was towed to [redacted] Isuzu and was in their possession for nearly one month while they waited for special parts to arrive from outside North America. Please see above details for any questions regarding the time allotments.
