Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/08/12) */
Mr. [redacted] and his wife came to us to check his breaks in his van; he stated he had just had them replaced (brake pads) two days earlier (7/25/2015) at Marion Lifetime Muffler. I personally drove his van on. my drive up lift,. the...

throttle stuck and it had no brakes, I nearly drove off the front of the lift.
My mechanics examined his van and told him it needed a master cylinder, as his was leaking, that's why his vans brakes weren't working properly. We gave him a price for a new lifetime warranted master cylinder, he got permission from his wife to do the work, so we replaced it and she paid the bill for him (see attached receipt #1).
At that time he asked for credit to charge more parts, more brake pads, a caliper, and a rubber hose if it needed it, I asked him why he wouldn't go back for his brakes under the warranty from Marion Lifetime Muffler where it wouldn't cost him at all, and he said they couldn't get him in, Doesn't that sound suspicious? It does not make sense for someone to go to a different shop for work that they have a warranty on at another.
At no time did anyone at B & H offer to allow him to charge anything. Mr. [redacted] does not come across as type of person worthy of trusting to pay their bill. We typically don’t offer credit on repairs less than $100 to anyone, which this was, credit is usually reserved and offered to those with large repair bills and this didn't require that, the whole bill part and labor was only $58 (See receipt #2).
We told him that he may need a robber hose and a front caliper. Mr. [redacted] stated he couldn't afford the repair at this -time, as he was broke and didn't have the money to pay for the service; I assume his wife couldn't pay for it either. We told him again that if he wanted brakes he would
at least need a front rubber brake hose; this may be the cheapest way to fix his brakes. Since he hadn't had the brakes working properly for some time in this vehicle, he agreed and paid for it in full, not asking for credit this time.
Having fixed his rubber hose, Mr. [redacted] paid his bill and left.
The next morning we came in and his van was sitting in our parking lot, with the front brake allegedly sticking. His inability to pay the hill does not mean we have an obligation to buy him brake parts and trust that he will return to pay the bill.

He called my shop and demanded a refund from my son for his repairs I informed him that he
could give the new parts hack arid I would put his old parts back on his vehicle and then give him a refund, but 1 would not refund his money and he keep the new parts. He didn't like that idea.
When I spoke with Mr. [redacted], he tried tell me that we at B & H "Swore that the rubber hose was all that was wrong" with his brakes. 1 told him that's was not true, he was being dishonest we told him he needed multiple items hut he couldn't afford them, and he stated he was so broke he could afrord anything further on his vehicle, but the brakes still -weren't working properly, so we replaced his caliper out of pity for his family, which he paid $60 out of $100 fbr (Sec receipt #3) and he returned and paid mc the other $40 on that following Friday when his wife got paid.
So by 7/31/2015, he already has a new caliper, a new rubber brake hose, and a new master
cylinder from us that are all under warranty. He has new front brake pads from Marion Lifetime Muffler, also under warranty, but he still wouldn't be allowed to charge any work here because of his demanding attitude, the only problem with his repairs is he had to pay for them, he wants to claim someone other than himself is responsible for the condition of his vehicle, and this is simply not true,
We will not accept any bills submitted from any other shop, if he chooses to take that vehicle anywhere that is his choice and his responsibility, not ours.
Here is some free advice that we would like to offer Mr. [redacted]; if you cannot afford to pay a fhb-price for a repair, do not take your vehicle to the repair shop.
If you have any questions feel Free to call me anytime,
