Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2016/01/28) */
Our warranty for parts and labor at that time of service on 5/22/was 2yr or 24,miles, whichever came firstManufacturer warranty was revised 10-2-to a limited lifetime warranty which was months after service was done on the
vehicleWe have not seen the vehicle for service since 5/28/and customer did not return vehicle to verify the failure with the water pump he had the work done already and purchased a part from a different parts chainThere could have been other items leaking ie a gasket that would not have even been covered under warrantyWe feel we should not have to honor this due to our shop warranty and the parts warranty at that timeOur invoices also state that warranty work must be performed at our shop and cannot exceed the original cost of repair
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2016/01/28) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
B&B auto did not disclose that I had originally contacted them when I had this problem and I was told that there was no warranty and they could fix it for I quote "a thousand dollarish" This however is more than twice the amount I was quoted by a different licensed auto mechanic so I chose to have them do the work which B&B then bad mouthed the quality of work being done because they didn't get the jobI feel that if correct information had been given when I first called and before any work had been done they would have had the opportunity to give their professional opinionI am not looking for any warranty work or shop labor reimbursement for these repairs just simply the price of the part that has a limited life time warranty to be taken care of
Final Consumer Response /* (3000, 20, 2016/03/08) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
There had not been 95k miles put on since the pump had been replacedThe vehicle had 181,miles at the time the work was doneThe new pump was installed at 263,milesSo it is over 10k miles from that "service"
Final Business Response /* (4000, 22, 2016/03/18) */
Due to the age and mileage of the vehicle at least coolant flushes should have been performed by a certified automotive shop which are due every 90kReplacing the water pump it not the same service as coolant flushIf vehicle had been purchased used and no service history provided it is recommended to perform the service so a maintenance history can be established and the owner is certain all maintenance has been done
