B & C Brother's Construction Company, L L C Reviews (2)

Review: I hired this company last year to pour concrete in my backyard including steps down to the garage and a path out to the alley. I was pleased with the service they provided and found them to be very friendly and professional. I called the company this year in approximately May when I noticed 2 very large cracks in the concrete near the garage. They came to evaluate the concrete and determined that it was defective and should not have cracked. They agreed to repour the concrete but were unsure about when they could come but they thought June or July. Not having heard back, I contacted them in July. They wanted to come and review the crack again. It was apparent at that time, they were not enthusiastic about repouring the concrete and tried to offer other repair services including some type of service to effectively buff out the crack in the concrete. After paying approximately $3000 for the concrete last summer and per our initial discussion during which we agreed to repour the concrete, I stated my preference to repour the concrete. Again, they were uncertain as to when they could come and pour the concrete.

I did not receive a call from the company when they did come to do the work, which was about a week ago. I felt this was very unprofessional as the work was located at the access point to the garage and I could have been without access to my car because of their poor communication; fortunately a family member was there to retreive the garage door opener prior to starting the work. On the day the work was started, the company stated that there was a 10% chance of rain and they spoke with the concrete company who apparently has access to the most accurate doppler information. They began the work, despite a very obvious storm that was developing during which the sky was essentially black that morning. It was very obvious that rain was coming but I believe they were irritated they needed to repour the concrete and wanted to complete the job. The job was completed and covered with a plastic tarp. No communication was made from the company regarding their plans for the tarp or any other updates on the concrete. They came the next day and removed the tarp and did not provide any further instruction. I noticed a significant area of gray discoloration about approximately 1 foot long, involving all 4 joints and oval shape. I spoke with the company about my concerns. They indicated they had no control over the weather and they had no further plans to repair the concrete. The spot is very obvious and is extremely disappointing given the significant amount I paid for the concrete.Desired Settlement: Given they have no further plans to repair the concrete, there is no way to remedy the significant discoloration, the property appearance is clearly affected by this discoloration and the follow up service and communication was exceedingly poor, I would like a partial refund of the $3300 I paid. I believe $500 is a fair refund.
