I have been a resident of prentiss creek apts run by b h management for approximately 1 year. I am due to sign another lease by 03/01/2014. when I go over to their offices today, this will be about the fourth time I have been over there to try to sign the lease. they started placing notices on my door that I had to resign the lease by 02/16/2014 when the lease does not officially end until the end of the month; when I went over to the office on 02/15/2014, one of their staff informed me she was unaware any notices had been placed on my door but the lease doesn't expire until 03/01/2014 so I could disregard the door notice. I attempted to sign the lease that saturday but they checked their file and I was informed I couldn't sign the lease until I proved my pet had received the rabies shot; I obtained the documentation and went in to sign the lease on 02/26/2014; I turned over the pwork on the rabies shot, signed the lease, obtained copies of the signed documents for my records and left. now I am being informed the lease still isn't signed that there are errors on their own document and if I don't come in and sign it by their timeline I have to go to a month to month lease; I believe this is a tactic in order for this property to get more money out of me by forcing a delay in the paperwork; it is more profitable to them for me to be on a month to month lease; the rent has gone up to 989.00 from 949.00; if I have to go month to month I will owe almost 1100.00 per month. this is not the first time this property has attempted to charge fees to me. the rent was late at the beginning of the lease, I paid the amount they detemined and thought it was resolved. however, a short time later, they re-evaluated their books and said I owed more money which I paid; I actually had to go over to the office and be stern with them about sending notices to my door continually stating money was owed. I work 7 days a week, my time is very limited; I think the mgmt office is taking advantage of this fact. if any errors are made on their forms, they need to absorb the costs and inconvenience. the last time I was in their office, I sat down with their own staff and was directed how to sign those documents; I didn't go into their offices and sign the papers unsupervised. I think their practices are questionable

in this I had some major maintenance issues, had to live with same problem over 3 months. but still it was ok till decided to move out. I have paid everything in full, breaking the lease fee, one month of extra rent and such. 3 days ago I got a call from them and I have been told that I owe them more than $600 for electricity. according to them when you dont have the electric on your name(why should I have it on my name I have moved out) they charge you $10 per day. since I wasnt living in there only thing that was working is the fridge which costs $10 per month. long story short what they are doing is bringing up these crazy charges to you which you will refuse to pay and they will sell that debt to collection agencies, then do write off on their taxes. so its a win win situation for them. and I think its an unfair charge.
