Review: I hired B&J General Contracting to waterproof my basement. They installed a backyard drain and put in a brick patio. When the first rains came after the job was completed I saw water in the basement. I called several times and never heard back from the contractor. Eventually I had to hire someone else to finish the job. The drain that they installed drains so slowly that several inches of water build up against the house and eventually leak into the basement. Again, every time I try to get through there's no answer. I leave messages and I never hear back.Desired Settlement: I would like the contractor to pay me the $500 I spent to have the job finished.

Review: My co-owners ([redacted] & [redacted]) hired B & J Contracting (which is incorrectly named G & J Contracting on the invoice they provided us) to complete a waterproofing job for our brownstone that totaled $7550 in fees. The job outlined 1) Waterproofing the back of the house 2) Installing drain and adding cement 4’x19’ across back of house and doorway path. 3) Waterproofing on back wall 4) Roof and gutter. After the job was completed, flooding was still present in the backyard and in the basement (multiple inches of water high). When contacted re: the lack of effectiveness of the job, the contractor was disrespectful of returning phone calls and when he eventually did honor an appointment time stated it was due to problems with clearing leaves from the drain in the backyard and that the soil was collecting in the drain. When we asked why did he choose that method of water drainage if it was not suitable for our backyard, he blamed his workers for being inefficient and lazy. We agreed that he would return the next day to alter the waterproofing to be more effective, and he did not show up, nor has he responded to multiple phone calls or messages since then. His workers also left a jar of [redacted] in our backyard as they were completing their work. He has essentially stolen $7550 from us, without any sense of a need to be accountable for poor workmanship and a disrespectful attitude and basically robbery.Desired Settlement: We want a full refund for the work that was not completed, since it basically amounts to robbery. He has been unresponsive to texts or phone calls and we are currently filing a small claims court case against him. Highly unprofessional.
