In March of 2013 I took my 2 1/2 year old John Deere walkbehind lawnmower to Fraser Lawn Center for some preventative maintenance. I picked the lawnmower up several weeks later once I called to see if it was ready. I was charged $135.00 and told that a Major Tune-up was performed on the machine. The next day I started the lawnmower to cut my lawn and discovered that it would not stay running, started blowing white smoke and sounded terrible. I contacted Fraser Lawn Center the next day and shared with [redacted] what was happening with the machine. She abruptly told me to just bring the machine back and that she could not diagnose the problem over the phone. I explained to her that it is difficult for me to get this machine back and forth because it does not fit in my vehicle, I have to rely on my father to pick it up and drop it off. [redacted] shared that they could pick the machine up and bring it back to me, however, I would be charged for this service. I found this to be poor customer service and shared with her that I simply brought my machine in there for a tune up and that it ran fine before they worked on it and now I got it back and it doesn't even stay running. After getting nowhere I asked a family member to pick the machine up and take it back to the shop. I was contacted the next day and told that the machine needed new piston rings and that it would be another $95.00 for the repair. I reluctantly agreed to the repair, however, I have researched this problem and found that piston rings blow when the machine is over filled with oil,(an oil change was performed during the tune-up). After more then 3 weeks I was contacted again that the machine was ready for pick up. I picked the machine up on May 17, 2013. On May 24 I attempted to start the machine and it will not start. Again I'm told to just bring it back and I explain the difficulty in doing so. After a very unhelpful [redacted] I have asked to speak to the owner. I am still waiting for a call.
