Review: On Tuesday September 23, 2014, I went to B&S Automotive to get a quote on how much it would cost to have the water pump replaced in my 1998 [redacted]. I had been having issues with my power steering, and I had been told by an [redacted] associate that it was my water pump causing the problem. I spoke with [redacted], one of the owners of the garage, and he quoted the repair to be around $400 for parts and labor. This was a discounted price, given because I had identified myself as working for [redacted] is across the street from B&S Automotive, and all of their employees take their vehicles to B&S for most of their repairs on a regular basis. I agreed to the amount quoted and, without having me sign any paperwork or show any kind of identification, [redacted] asked me to drop off my car and keys the following morning.

On Wednesday September 24, 2014, I dropped off my vehicle in the B&S Automotive parking lot and dropped my key in the slot in their garage before going to work. At the end of my work day, I returned to the garage to pick up my car. When I got there, [redacted] informed me that as far as he could tell, aside from seeming "a little dry", there was nothing wrong with my water pump. He went on to tell me that he had replaced it anyways, and that he was charging me the full price of $400. At the time, I was so frustrated that the problem with my steering had not been resolved, and that I had gotten the wrong part replaced, that I paid the bill, signed the receipt and left. I realized later, once I had gotten home, that I should have refused to sign the receipt due to lack of communication on the part of [redacted], regarding the necessity of the repair.

The next morning, on Thursday September 25, 2014, I called B&S Automotive to speak with [redacted] to see if we could come to a resolution. I told [redacted] that I was not comfortable with the previous days transaction, and that the fact that he knowingly replaced a part that was not broken and still charged me full price, was an issue. He immediately became combative and uncooperative, and refused to do anything to rectify the situation. His stance was that I had told to him to replace the water pump, so he replaced the water pump. Whether it was broken or not was not his problem. He also claimed that even if he had stopped the replacement, put everything back, and waited to talk to me, he still would have charged me $400 for the labor. The conversation became heated, I threatened to contact the Revdex.com if he refused to work something out, and [redacted] hung up on me.Desired Settlement: I would like B&S Automotive to refund me $200 of the $400 that I paid them, and repair my power steering.
