Babe Cosmetics offers a beauty subscription service called BabeBox. I signed up through an advertisement offering a free box if you pay shipping. Of course, in the secret terms and conditions, this also signs you up for a second month paid in full, in addition to shipping; this ended up being the last of my problems. I reached out to customer service, tell them I didn't see that the second month was required, but they responded telling me I NEEDED to pay for it, end of. I angrily paid for the second month and figured I would cancel immediately after this box, how bad could it be? I was finally sent my second box and as soon as I open it, I see a lotion that is dirtied, scraped up, and when I take the cap off, unsealed. They sent me a used lotion, during a global health pandemic. I reached out via customer service immediately, and the response included nothing about the used lotion or how to rectify the problem, ie: replacement or refund. I check out their Instagram, turns out another customer also received an unsealed lotion. We are now on day 5 of no response back to multiple emails and DMs through social media. In addition to the lotion, they sent me a KN95 mask, and it felt almost out of jest in order to handle the truly dirty lotion they sent. There are numerous other comments about this company being unresponsive, scamming money, etc on Instagram, in addition to various other platforms like Influenster, YouTube, and Reddit dating back to 2019 and throughout 2020. I genuinely would like to see this business change their ways, respond to customers timely, give refunds or replacements for defective items, and overall, own up to their mistakes. It makes me furious to think about all the future customers who will eventually get screwed over by this scam of a website.

Desired Outcome

Refund I want a refund for my second box that I was forced into ordering. I would have accepted a replacement if they had appropriately responded to my complaint, but they haven't, and I still haven't heard anything. After years of working in customer service, I could not imagine blowing off customers in such an enormous and terrible way. You would think they would be worried about their online reputation but clearly they don't care about anything having to do with customers or their satisfaction.

We are very sorry to hear that this subscriber did not have a good experience with BabeBox. Our goal is to provide quality, cruelty free cosmetics and skin care products to our subscribers around the world. Quality is very important to us, which is why we pulled a product out of the shipment and notified everyone by email of the last minute product change. We are disappointed to hear that the moisturizer product tube appeared to be dirty, but we can assure you this was not a used or unsanitary product. This moisturizer is from a boutique organic skincare line that is hand-bottled (the silver safety seal is applied as part of a machine bottling process) - but the hand bottling is done under strict sanitary conditions. Please reach out to the moisturizer company directly if you would like to learn more about their process and safety/sanitation protocol. With regard to the request for reimbursement for the second box, we offered to send two replacement products to this subscriber and on 7/29 we let the subscriber know that her replacement order had been processed. On 7/30 the subscriber responded that she would like confirmation that her subscription has been cancelled and to please ensure her account is deleted after she receives the replacement products. This email exchange was 8 days after this complaint was filed requesting a refund. As the subscriber requested, the replacements were shipped out and her subscription has been cancelled. We have provided two boxes (10 products) and 2 additional replacement products to this subscriber. We do apologize for any issues this subscriber experienced with this process and we take all customer feedback to heart as it helps us improve the experience for all of our Babe subscribers.
