Review: I had a surprising and negative experience trying to consign items at Babies & Beyond on Freeport blvd. I believe that the behavior is unacceptable and was a form of theft. I was asked to leave my potential items last week because the owner was not there at her normal time to accept consignments. I was out of town for work for a few days and when I returned I came to pick up all of my stuff because her offer over the phone was quite low and I decided to give everything away instead. However one of the things I had left was a brand new (in box) pair of $40 toddler shoes, and it was missing. When I asked for them, I was first told that I must not have ever brought in the shoes, because everything was kept in one bin and was now being given back to me. Finally she called the owner, who told the clerk that she had mistakenly sold them, but would give me $8 (in store credit?), which is what she claims she sold them for. When I told the store clerk that I didn't appreciate that she had treated me like I didn't even bring in the shoes, when really they had already sold them, she was anything but apologetic. She told me that she didn't say or do anything wrong, and was very rude and snippy with me. It just added insult to injury that they sold my shoes without my permission, and then were incredibly rude to me about it!Desired Settlement: I would like the shoes back, since they did not belong to Babies & Beyond, so they were essentially stolen from me to sell to another customer. If that can't happen, I would like closer to the true cost, which I believe should be at least $20, because they were brand new shoes that had never been worn before, and they retail for about twice that amount.
